when russia played against sweden and holland. then russia did play well.

BUT, what lagerbäck the stupid manager did, is that he fielded a tired team. 4 domestic quality players, and elmander on the wing.

now now dont forget that swedish team sucks and are tired. and russia are fired up, and they can easily have a god at sweden. the team sweden fielded and how we played, any team would beat us.

but of course russia did play well. im not taking that fact away.

but they had it easier to play their way because of the shite opposition.

against holland they did quite so well. i was shocked to see holland to be honest. i mean well done to russia. but holland didnt seem to be up for it mentally. their defence was all over the place. and a real lack of concentration in their team.

anyways, russia had the mental strength to go on in the extra time and tare holland apart. otherwise it was quite so evenly matched game.
but russia werent the exceptionally great like people or the media say.

of course they did do well. but not that they were out of this world kind of a team and its a miracle.

but then again im also a man who keeps it realistic. im not easily impressed by what people do out there on the pitch. and its rarely that i will go out and call a team superior and what not.

i will most of the times expect the unexpected. but people seem to forget that.

How does a team play really well?

one thing can and usually is that the opposition arent playing good enough. and against sweden that was the case. we were shite on both paper and pitch on that day. once again our manager sucks, i hope he burns in hell.

spain fucked russia up didnt they? they have fucked most of the teams they have met in the tournament. more or less, against italy they were shit though.

I think you're just making the mistake of assuming everyone but you thinks Russia are a 'out of this world' kind of team. I haven't seen anyone call there success in the tournament anything but good tactics by Hiddink and luck.

that seems like loads of tosh to me. Russia played some fantastic footie against Greece, Sweden and Holland respectively.

I am not just jumping into the media pundits' bandwagon in saying that. They were rampant against Holland and we all knew and witnessed how scary Holland played their footie prior to the match against Russia, yet again they got whooped by Russia all over the field. So, it's not that Holland or Sweden displayed some rubbish footie, Russia were too strong for them at those matches. End of.
Fair play to you for your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion at the end of the day, but I just think to dismiss Russia's achievement and effort is somewhat disrespectful.

try to make it even simpler:

russia could play that good because of the opposition not giving them a real fight.

if holland sweden and even greece played more or less to their best or even just good then russia wouldn have been able to play as good as they have done.

this point doesnt just go to russia but football overall.

i dont think anyone of you are understanding my point at all.

its like torres, he is a good player, but against good opposition he struggles. away from home he struggles. against a team like derby he can be world class.
