In this story, you can follow my journey in Europe with my local team Viking FK. The Norwegian team haven't won anything since 2001, and will be looking for success in the nearest future. Can the new manager Henrik Steinnes take them to glory?

Starting squad

Rune Almenning Jarstein
Arild Østbø

Indridi Sigurdsson
Håkon Skogseid
Christian Landu-Landu
Johan Lædre Bjørdal
Björn Andersson
Trond Erik Bertelsen

André Danielsen
Martin Ørnskov
King Osei Gyan
Yann-Erik de Lanlay
Valon Berisha
Vidar Nisja
Trond Olsen

Erik Nevland
Patrik Ingelsten
Henri Anier

As you can see, it is not the biggest squad in the world. I don't have a big transfer budget either with only £850,000 to spend. Therefore, I will look out for free transfers.

I have signed one player: Lars-Christopher Vilsvik, fullback.

Season goals

The board expects me to finish in a Europa League-qualification spot. They also expect me to reach a quarter-final in the Norwegian Cup.

How do you think I'll do it? Can I reach the season goals? Can I win The Double?
Something different, I like that.

Good luck mate
Thanks. Hopefully I won't dissapoint you :)

Viking - Molde
Viking - Genk
Viking - HJK Helsinki
Sarpsborg - Viking
Ull/Kisa - Viking
Vejle - Viking
Vidar - Viking

You'll get the results after the last pre-season match. I think that I shoud get at least 5 victories in these fixtures.

Transfer update

Fulham midfielder Kerim Frei has agreed to join Viking on a season long loan spell. Former Viking defender Brede Hangeland supports the transfer and wishes Frei good luck at his former club.

The transfer for Odd Grenland striker Torgeir Børven collapsed due to Viking not being able to pay the price for the Norwegian striker.

Norwegian striker Veton Berisha got promoted to the senior squad, and will be looking forward to playing with his older brother Valon Berisha.
Its nice to see that I'm not the only person doing a story on a Scandinavian team on this site, I'm managing KuPS from Finland. Good luck with your story, will definately be following.

Pre-Season results

Viking 7 - 0 Vaulen
Ve. Berisha

Viking 1 - 1 Molde

Viking 0 - 1 Genk

Viking 2 - 0 HJK Helsinki

Sarbsborg 08 0 - 1 Viking
Ole Marius Aasen (Actually playing for reserves, but had 7 players on international duty)

Ull/Kisa 0 - 0 Viking

Vejle 0 - 1 Viking

Vidar 0 - 3 Viking
Eirik Schulze (Another reserve team player)

Transfers and injuries

Danish striker Morten Nielsen joins Viking on a free transfer after his contract with Danish side Midtjylland expired.

The supporters got a shock today after a club statement telling that the young talented winger Yann-Erik de Lanlay will be ruled out for two months after breaking his arm, and newly promoted striker Veton Berisha for 2-3 weeks with an injury in his thigh.

In the same statement, the board could happily announce that midfielder Vidar Nisja extended his contract with another four years.

Upcoming fixtures in March

Tippeligaen (Norwegian Premier Division
Viking - Molde
Strømsgodset - Viking

Can I start off with 6 points in two matches? What do you think of my transfers and pre-season matches? Please comment :-)
Good luck against Molde, they are a tough team to beat

I know. Title holders as well. In real life Viking haven't lost against them in a few years, so hopefully I can bring that with me here :)
