Vinnie Went Shopping In Brazil
Crystal Palace have completed the signings of
Brazilian trio Adryan, Muralha and Wescley.
18 years old Adryan and 19 years old Muralha both played for the Flamengo Under 18 side. The highly rated duo was signed for a reported fee of €1.0m each as Crystal Palace activated the release clause in their contract.
Adryan is an
attacking midfielder by trade and is expected to walk straight into the Crystal Palace 1st team. The deal is seen as a huge coup by Crystal Palace as Adryan was touted to be a full Brazilian international in the future. Crystal Palace paid a
lump sum of €500k to his former club while another
€500k will be paid throughout the next 48 months. Adryan put pen to paper on a
5 year deal worth €8.75k/week.
Muralha meanwhile is a more defensive minded midfielder. Crystal Palace is believed to have fend off the competition from Italian giant, Internazionale, for the signature of the
defensive midfielder. Touted as the next Lucas Leiva, Muralha is seen as a player who is not just competent in the art of defending but is also comfortable with the ball on his feet. A good passer of the ball, Muralha is already a full Brazilian Under 20 international. The fees involved in bringing him to Selhurst Park is thought to be similar with Adryan with a
lump sum of €500k paid to his former club while another
€500k will be paid throughout the next 48 months. Muralha put pen to paper on a
5 year deal worth €15.0k/week.
28 years old
Wescley was signed on a
5 months loan deal from Ponte Preta. Crystal Palace will pay a
monthly fee of €1.5k throughout loan period while also covering
€2.1k/week of his wages. The
defender's contract with Ponte Preta is expiring by the end of December this year and it is believed that Crystal Palace coach Vinnie Jones view the loan deal as an 'interview' period for Wescley. Should he impress during the spell, he will surely earn himself a contract offer from Crystal Palace.
Speaking on the signings, Vinnie Jones said:
"These signings show that the club is moving in the right direction. The signings of Adryan and Muralha epitomize the club's philosophy in investing in youth. Both are great prospect and both are chased by big clubs. But they have confidence in our project and they chose to sign for us. I am sure that they will all settle in well in the club, we already have Brazilian Andre Moritz and he'll help the lads in settling."
