I think it'll be tough with the group I've got, but if I can beat Sweden at home, and get a decent result away, I think I'll be fine. Thanks for reading :)
Good job so far. Also, by the way, when you click 'My Ireland Story' in your signature, it leads you to your Milan story.

Keane: “We Have To Look To The Future”

Ireland boss Robbie Keane has claimed that if the country wants to have any success, they have to look to their young players such as Clark to step up to the big stage.

Speaking to a journalist following his first match in charge of Ireland, Keane said “here at the Aviva we have a great pool of young talent to choose from. Clark, who’s already our captain, Meyler, McClean, and loads more. They all play first team football for their clubs, and now we need them to be able to play well for Ireland too. We’ve already seen them start to do it. I mean, look at the win against Estonia. Both our goals were scored by young players scoring their first goals for Ireland. They stepped up instead of the experienced players, and shows the transition between generations is starting. I think we’ve got a very bright future with the young players we have.”

Keane has already started moving young players up to the senior squad just weeks after taking over the nation. He wants them to get experience at international level so that they can cope in tournaments in the future.
I like Mcclean, I think he's quite a good player

Yeah, barring any setbacks, he'll be first choice, or at least in every squad.

Given Makes Shock U-Turn

Shay Given has announced his intention to come back out of international retirement just a couple of weeks after announcing it in the first place. He says that new manager Robbie Keane managed to convince him that his valuable experience would be useful for the young players making the transition to the senior squad.

Given has made 125 appearances for the Irish national team, making him a very valuable source of experience for Keane to use in the transition of young players such as Clark and McClean. This is the main reason Keane is said to have tried to make Given change his mind, as well as wanting to see how he can compete with Westwood and Kenny for the goalkeeper spot. He never had a chance under Keane, as he was left out of the first squad, for the match against Estonia, and announced his retirement in the run-up to the game. Now Keane has seen what he’s done, and managed to persuade Ireland’s record appearance holder to come back for one last hurrah.

Given is expected to be recalled to the squad for the World Cup Qualifiers against Austria and the Faroe Islands next month, providing he is playing games for his club, Aston Villa.
