History

Formation
Huge tax debts buried Halifax Town A.F.C. after almost 100 years as a football club. The cash-strapped Shaymen owed over £800,000 to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. The Revenue refused any deal and that effectively finished the club – already over £2 million in the red.
At a meeting of The Football Association, discussing the makeup of the football pyramid for the 2008/09 season, F.C. Halifax Town were not placed in either the Conference National, the Conference North or the Northern Premier League Premier Division. Despite an appeal Halifax Town were eventually accepted to play in the Northern Premier League Division One North in the new season under the new name F.C. Halifax Town.

2008–09
The club's first game under the new name FC Halifax Town was a friendly away against Tamworth on 19 July 2008. There was to be no fairy-tale ending however, and the game ended in a 2–0 defeat.
The club got off to a poor start, despite recording their first competitive victory in the next match. However, a 7–1 home win against Salford City in late September seemed to turn the tide for Town. They went on an 8-game unbeaten run, 7 of those being victories, and shot to the top of the league table.
Halifax won just 2 of their final 14 league games, this poor run led to the sacking of manager Jim Vince, and senior player Nigel Jemson stepped up to the manager's position for the remainder of the season. The automatic promotion places were certainly out of Halifax's reach going into the final 5 games and they had to settle for a final position of 8th.

2009–10
With new manager Neil Aspin taking the helm near the start of close season, Halifax Town got off to a much better start. Jonathan Hedge was called up for the England C national football team. Halifax's glory streak faltered a little after losing 1–0 away to Prescot Cables in the only game during the season where they failed to score.
Halifax failed to record a game for over a month during the heavy weather in the winter, and Lancaster City dominated the promotion race for a while. However, Halifax continued to rake up impressive results, and during a congested schedule beat Ossett Albion 5–0. They held onto the top spot until the end of the season, becoming champions of the Northern Premier League Division One North with 100 points.

2010–11
The Shaymen began the season how they would have wanted, winning their inaugural match at this level 2-1 against Buxton at the Shay. After a less than perfect run Town were unbeaten in twelve league games, winning a remarkable eleven of them to send the Shaymen six points clear of nearest challengers, and having played two games less than them
Halifax won an incredible match against Chasetown in late March, with four of the five goals in the 3-2 win coming very late on after Town had gone behind. The winning run continued and gained Town automatic promotion to the Conference North. This was their second league title in as many seasons.

2011–12
After two incredible seasons, there was a belief around the club that three consecutive promotions could be on the cards. A good pre-season increased optimism but everyone was brought back down to Earth after Town lost their opening game at home to Corby Town. Defeats against Hinckley United and Vauxhall Motors didn't help the cause and Halifax were languishing in 16th place with only two wins from their opening nine games. This wasn't good enough and the team responded, winning four of their next six games including a victory against eventual league champions Hyde.
Despite the poor league form, Halifax were enjoying a good run in the FA Cup; the club reached the first round for the first time since their reformation and were drawn at home to Charlton Athletic who were five points clear at the top of League One at the time. The tie was selected to be shown live on ITV1. Town gave a very good account of themselves despite going down 4-0 after three late goals.
A sluggish period after the highs of the Charlton game were quickly forgotten after Halifax went on a ten game unbeaten run, propelling them from 13th position to 3rd, a position around which they stayed for the remainder of the season. Defeats against Nuneaton Town began an inconsistent run, which led to a nail-biting end to the season in the race to make the play-offs. Town lost away at fellow play-off hopefuls Stalybridge Celtic but three wins fron the final four games secured a 3rd place finish.
Halifax faced Gainsborough Trinity in the play-offs, a side who they hadn't lost to in the regular season, however after going 2-0 down at the Northolme they came back to draw the first leg 2-2. In the second leg, Town went down 1-0 despite having more of the ball throughout the game but poor finishing meant that they had to settle for another season in the Conference North.

BREAKING NEWS
"Neil Aspin’s success at Halifax hasn’t gone unnoticed and after failing to achieve the third promotion he wanted, Aspin accepted an offer to manage up and coming Lemans FC in the French Ligue 2. The FX Halifax board have wished him well and thanked him for his efforts at the club. They will now begin the search for their new manager in time for the new season in which promotion should be a realistic goal."

FC Halifax Appoint New Manager

Sky Sports has just received exclusive news from the Blue Square Bet North side FC Halifax.

It was announced earlier today that young, previously untested manager Alex T is set to take the helm at promotion hopefuls FC Halifax.

After just failing to make the grade last season, the board expressed a desire to adopt a fresh new approach in an attempt to shake the league up. They hope to see a real push for promotion from the new manager and are said to be prepared to accept nothing less than the play-offs again this season.

When asked to make a statement exclusively to Sky Sports, Alex T had the following message for fans and players alike:
"It is an honour to be offered this opportunity to prove myself, I look forward to working closely with the staff and players to take this team to its highest potential."

He added:
"I'm aware that the club has come through a tough time in recent years and has made great steps towards it's previous stature. I want to personally guarantee the loyal fans of FC Halifax that I will do my upmost best to put this club on the map like never before."

With those strong words certain to feature on the back pages of all the local West Yorkshire papers, it is obvious that this manager is one to watch.

Even before the season has begun there has been a mixed bag of bets surrounding this upcoming season for FC Halifax, specifically surrounding the potential future for new manager Alex T.

A spokesman from William Hill stated:
"Thanks to his strong words, failure does not seem to be an option, which has influenced the odds on his departure within a short space of time: Currently standing at 11-2.
However, many staunch supporters of the club have faith in their young manager and the promotion odds for FC Halifax currently stand at 14-1."

There will no doubt be many changes over the coming months, but one thing is certain: This is going to be interesting!

Season 1: 2012/13

Pre-season and transfers

Transfers
New manager Alex T finds himself with only a short time to get to know his new squad, it’s strengths… and it’s weaknesses. Without even the luxury of a budget to play with there is less than four weeks until the start of the season.

Relying on the knowledge of the team of staff already in place the manager has some tough decisions to make which could ultimately make him a very unpopular man. No-one ever said success would be easy.
Bringing in a couple of players on a free to strengthen the squad in key areas was a must but for extra impact this season it would be up to the two loan signings who bring higher division skill and experience.
Several players found themselves on the receiving end of Alex T’s ‘new start’ policy. At the risk of making himself unpopular with the team FC Halifax now have a greatly reduced wage bill

Most notable of these was Lewis Wilson, a 19 year old Striker, loaned for the season from Northampton.

Alex T issued the following statement regarding the signings:
”While I inevitably look to the current squad to lead the way this season, it is important that we have the depth of squad to ensure strength in the key areas of the field. To this end I’d like to welcome the new players to the team, as with all my players I expect great things from them.”

He went on to explain:
”Lewis is a player of immense ability who I know will contribute greatly to the season, but rest assured, no places are certain in my team. Players who work hard on the training field will get their chance to impress on match day.”

Pre-season
It was an average pre-season for FC Halifax. With two wins and two draws there is a confidence around the training ground which suggests that any potential unrest from the summers trading activities seems to have been averted. The real test will be if they can carry this form into the league when faced with the tougher opposition they’ll find there.

After an extremely active transfer window, FC Halifax had brought in the most new faces with new manager Alex T obviously wanting to put his stamp on things. However after an average pre-season the fledgling manager still felt there wasn't enough depth at the club. In the first half of the season Alex T continued to look at new ways to build on the clubs good start to the league, bringing in 2 loan players and no less than 7 free transfers.

Most Notable of these was young Englishman Jake Wholey from Notts County. At just 18 the left sided wing-back is pegged as an up and coming player with a lot to offer the lower leagues.

The first half of the season showed a lot of promise to wary FC Halifax fans. First a new, untested, manager, then a complete overhaul of the team they know and love and only an average pre-season to show for it; there wasn't a lot for the fans to feel good about.

However, after several league games with no defeat and fan favourite Gareth Seddon leading the charge with almost a goal a game, things are looking good.

The other end of the pitch is showing promise as well, with only 16 goals conceded at the Christmas half way mark, and many clean sheets; it is easy to see why the Shaymen top the table.

Gareth Seddon continues to impress the fans and peers alike, securing himself two, well deserved, player of the month awards.

Attempting to solidify their domination of the Blue Square Bet North, FC Halifax have made four more signings this January. With 3 new players signed on a free, manager Alex T is obviously looking to ensure his team has the depth to see out the season despite cup runs and the ever present effects of fatigue.

With the added loan signing of 19 year old Midfielder Dan Parkinson from Morecambe, the Shaymen look to have made themselves firm favourites for promotion this season.

FC Halifax maintained their winning ways after the Christmas break, however, ecstatic fans were brought crashing back to earth when Hinckley defeated their dream team by 3 goals to nil towards the end of January.

When asked about the first defeat of the season, Alex T had the following to say:

"I'm not overly concerned with the loss, we are competing on many fronts at the moment and it is difficult to maintain the levels of fitness we need to continue to dominate in the league."

He went on to add that:

"Admittedly a heavy defeat like that one wasn't ideal but I know my lads and we'll come back from this stronger and more determined. We will win promotion this year, I've promised the board as much, I've promised my team as much. And I'm promising the fans the same, even if it costs me my job."

After strong words like that there was no other option but for FC Halifax to keep the top spot to themselves. Despite several worrying draws there were many excellent performances to feel proud of. None more so than the six games won in a row to finish the season with, complete with the customary six goals from Gareth Seddon.

The season ends and the players can begin to celebrate one very successful campaign, champions of the Blue Square Bet North in impressive style.

ARMA-SEDDON!

Gareth Seddon is a name that strikes fear into the hearts of the opposition this season. He has proven to be an unstoppable goal scoring machine scoring 31 goals in 35 league appearances. A key player in the success of FC Halifax this season Gareth is sure to be a target for many clubs this summer despite his advanced age.

When asked about his season, Gareth told us:

"I'm on cloud nine, we have enjoyed a few years of success now and with last years play-off failure there was a real determination to prove ourselves this year. I'm pretty sure we have done that. I would like to thank the fans for their continued passionate support, they've really given us the boost to achieve the things we have this season. I'd also like to thank the gaffer for having faith in me, you can't score goals if you aren't on the field after all!"

Gareth is certain to go down in history as one of the Shaymen's greatest ever players for his service to the club, where-ever his future may lie.

Cup Runs

The FA Trophy saw some fierce competition this year with one team standing out above all others to take the trophy. FC Halifax saw off all comers with a series of impressive wins against their peers and BSP superiors.

It was an impressive 5-1 defeat of Hyde which set the scene for the successful cup run to come. Despite having to hold some of the bigger clubs to a draw, the Shaymen showed their fortitude and coped admirably with the pressure, storming through replay after replay to reach the semi-final.

It was a nail biting match against Salisbury from the BSP, but expectations were high after a series of league and cup victories and the Shaymen eventually came out on top with a late winner in the 4-3 thriller.

FA Trophy favourites Braintree awaited the underdogs in the final. But despite a 24 league place difference FC Halifax where riding a wave of high morale and even higher form, taking the trophy in a convincing 3-1 victory at Wembley.

Manager Alex T was quoted after the final:

"A manager can never ask more of his players then that they give it their all.
My lads have proved that their 'all' is more than enough for the success i want to bring to this club. I'm very proud of them today, as i am after every match."

Records set:

Most Team goals - 24

The FA Cup gives teams from the lower leagues a chance to show what they can do on the bigger stage. It is never more entertaining when a minnow slays a 'giant' of the footballing world and there was no shortage of that this season.

Premier League teams found themselves humiliated by lower division sides on more than one occasion but the most notable minnow in the competition proved to be BSN leaders FC Halifax. Under new management they showed what can be achieved with a bit of belief and some daring tactics as they romped their way to the latter stages of the tournament.

While they will no doubt rue the missed opportunity to face Premier League opponents, the Shaymen can still be proud of their third round victory over Championship side Peterborough. Despite propping up the division Peterborough are still 72 places higher in the league standings. Showing what effect form and morale can have FC Halifax took the victory with an impressive 3-0 win.

It took Championship promotion prospects Nottingham Forest to stop the Shaymen in their tracks when they met in the Quarter-Finals. Despite the end result being a 3-0 defeat the Halifax manager had a lot to be proud of as his players put in a classy performance against a much better side.

Season 1 review: 2012/13

Shaymen take the Double

In a momentous first season in charge, new manager Alex T has confirmed the Blue Square Bet North Title for FC Halifax.

Fans and players alike are singing his praises after the young unknown took his side to FA Trophy glory earlier in the season and has now achieved automatic promotion as Champions of the BSN. The overachieving didn't stop there however as FC Halifax enjoyed a glorious run in the FA Cup, beating several sides in higher divisions before finally being stopped in their tracks at the quarter final stage by Championship high fliers Nottingham Forest, one of the Shaymen's rare defeats this season.

The FC Halifax board have been reported as being ecstatic at their clubs achievements, placing a large portion of the credit at Alex T's feet, upon hearing this he told our reporter:

"While I certainly appreciate the comments from the board I most certainly cannot take all of the credit. The players have worked extremely hard this season, both on the field and off it. They have taken every match as if it was a cup final and that shows in the results. I'm proud of each and every one of them and can't thank them enough for the dedication they have shown to this club and it's supporters. We may not be the biggest club in the area, yet, but the support has been fantastic and driven the players to new heights."

The question on everybody's lips now is, what can they do to top this next season!

End of Season Board Statement

David Bosomworth would like to extend his congratulations, on behalf of himself and the board, to the manager and players for a fantastic season. It has been one to remember with a fabulous FA Cup run and the securing of the FA Trophy and League Title. All expectations were met or exceeded and we are looking forward to the challenges of the coming season. Hopefully our new affiliation with Rotherham will give us an added advantage over our opponents in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Season 2: 2013/14

In another bold move, FC Halifax manager Alex T has instigated a mass clear out of players, replacing the old guard stalwarts with young, untested players. For a second season in a row the Shaymen find themselves the most active in the transfer window with a staggering eighteen new signings!

A total of nine free transfers, four loaned players and five players signed for an approximate £18,000 means that the changing rooms at the Shay are fuller than ever before. It seems the saying 'You Can't Win Anything With Kids' is going to be tested in full this coming season in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

The biggest shock of the window was the mutual termination of fan favourite Gareth Seddon. Despite his instrumental efforts of the previous season and numerous accolades Gareth was happy to leave the club on a high after commenting on his time at Halifax:

"I have had a great time at the Shay but I'm as aware of my age and ability as anyone out there. Obviously I would have loved to have stayed at the club but to play first team football I need to be at a club whose plans for the future I can fit into."

He went on to add his best wishes for the coming season and to thank the fans for the support they showed him last season.

After a busy transfer window which saw many older players leave the club, the board would like to welcome the newest additions to the Shay and hopes the fans will embrace them in the same way they have previous squad members.

After his superb performances last season we are pleased to announce Lewis Wilson will be staying on with us with a three year contract.

We would also like to announce the arrival of two young prospects with great things ahead of them, Tom Hopper; a promising Forward on loan for the season from Leicester, and Adam Davies; a 21 year old Goal Keeper who has impressed our scouts in previous months as a player with a bright future between the sticks.

Due to the success we have enjoyed over the past few seasons the board are delighted to announce that the club has turned full-time. We hope the extra time this allows our players and staff for training and preparation will continue to breed the culture of success we are hoping to cultivate at the club.

Friendlies

A good pre-season saw the new arrivals at the Shay make an instant impact, winning three out of the four friendlies scheduled. The only defeat came at the hands of recent affiliates Rotherham United who demonstrated the power of the higher leagues with an impressive 4-1 victory, despite this the fans showed an appreciated for the style of football played, keeping the scoreline to 2-1 until the final minutes when a dubious penalty rocked an un-gelled teams morale which allowed a swift counter-attack to secure the rout.

FC Halifax have made a flying start to this season, winning eight out of their first ten games in the Blue Square Bet Premier including a reputation boosting televised win over promotion prospects, and last seasons FA Trophy finalists, Braintree.

The increased pace of the division seems to be taking its toll, however, as injuries start to stack up causing manager Alex T to draft in six more players on a free transfer, one more player on loan and spending £6,000 on 18 year old defensive midfielder Josh Readings from Woking during the January transfer window. Due to the new 4-1-2-3 formation the manager, known by fans and peers alike as 'The Tinkerer', is trialling, the position Josh is most comfortable in has become a key role in the squad.

Wa-Shay The Lads

Another dream season is on the cards for newly promoted FC Halifax. Sitting pretty at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier, the Shaymen are surprising everybody with their professional performances despite only recently becoming a full-time club.

After being pegged for mid-table obscurity it is seeming entirely possible that the young Halifax side, with an average age of only 23, could well be a promotion prospect again this year.

FC Halifax to secure promotion currently stands at 10-1
FC Halifax to lift the title currently stands at 14-1

Ever confident manager, Alex T, has proclaimed his expectation for his team to secure promotion this season. Not only that, he has been overheard confidently discussing their title chances.

A relatively quiet second half to the season showed that this confidence is far from misplaced with no teams even getting close to upsetting the Shaymen's party. Not only did the season end without defeat but Adam Davies proved why he was a key signing by keeping no less than nine clean sheets in the final three months of the season.

With a second consecutive title in the trophy cabinet the board are going to have to work hard to keep their manager as they enter the big leagues next season.

Simply A-Shay-Zing!

FC Halifax wowed fans and rivals alike this season by continuing their staggering success story, lifting another league title again this week. There is an air of confidence surrounding the club which can only be the result of such a glorious run of form. Having not lost a league match since January 2013, the question on everyones lips this week is: What now for Alex T?

We spoke to him earlier this today and he gave us this statement:

"As always I would like to thanks the fans and players for their support this season. We have all worked hard to achieve what was thought to be impossible.
I know there is a lot of speculation about my future and I employ a level of honesty in my work that I expect from all who work with me.
To that end I would like to announce publicly that I have been approached by several clubs over recent months.
I would also like to announce that I have just signed a new 5 year deal with FC Halifax. My work here isn't done yet!"

That can't fail to be good news for fans of the Shaymen, old and new alike, who have come to see a level of success never before known in this corner of West Yorkshire.

Won in a Row - 10
Without Loss - 71

Cup Runs

Another fantastic run in the FA Trophy saw some extra-ordinary results for FC Halifax this season. Having been upgraded from underdogs to favourites it was important to assert a level of dominance that would stand in the record books. Next season would see no FA Trophy run for the Shaymen having been promoted to N-Power Division 2, but this would be a prime chance for another piece of silverware for the suddenly full trophy cabinet.

Despite storming through the early rounds, including an impressive 6-0 victory over Stalybridge in the third round, FC Halifax met rivals Cambridge in the Semi-Final. Cambridge had been a thorn in the Shaymen's side throughout the league, forcing draws on both occasions they met, but this was all set to change.

A cunning change in formation coupled with the steely determination of every player on the field saw Halifax storm to a 7-1 victory in the first leg, including a simply inspirational quintet of goals from young striker Tom Hopper. Despite that demoralising loss Cambridge refused to lie down and it took a late free-kick goal in the second leg to confirm the 8-1 demolition of The Lilywhites.

Set to face Exeter in the final, confidence among players and fans was high, as were the expectations. It turned out to be a tense match, finishing 0-0 in normal time it took a wonderful solo effort goal from Tom Hopper in the 110th minute to secure the cup for the second time in two seasons for FC Halifax.

Records Set:

Biggest Win - 7-1 v Cambridge (8-1 after 2 legs)
Highest Scoring Game - 7-1 v Cambridge
Most Games Unbeaten - 19
Most Goals in a Game - Tom Hopper - 5 v Cambridge

FC Halifax were faced with another lucky set of draws this season in the FA Cup. It saw them face off against teams no more that 30 places higher than them in the leagues. This had proven to be no barrier last season and was the case again this time around. However, the stakes always get higher the further you get in this tournament and in the fourth round the Shaymen faced Division 1 promotion prospects Wycombe Wanderers.

The mood was somber on the morning of the match but a full house at the Shay showed why this team is never one to write off, cheering their side to complete a 4-1 rout of the stunned opposition.

The Fifth round would prove to be a more difficult challenge as the Blue Square Bet Premier underdogs faced off against Championship side, and local rivals, Barnsley. Despite going 2-0 down in the first half, Alex T's side came out full of fire for the final 45 minutes. Catching an overconfident Barnsley side completely off-guard the match finished 3-2 to FC Halifax.

Having reached the quarter-finals last year, it was a nerve wracking affair for Halifax as they faced another Championship promotion prospect, Huddersfield Town. Again local rivalry meant that this game was more than just a cup match and the underdogs were off to a superb start, going in at half time with a 2-0 lead. In an almost reverse mirror of the last match it was soon 2-2, but the determination of the Shaymen was too great for The Terriers and an 83rd minute stunning strike from Josh Dawkin took FC Halifax to the semi-final.

This was to be their greatest challenge yet, having never faced Premier League opposition before, it was made all the more special to face a side as huge as Arsenal. The result was all but fore-gone but the FC Halifax players went away with their heads held high having forced Arsenal to settle for a 1-0 win over the side 86 places lower than them in the league hierarchy.

Season 2 review: 2013/14

Shaymen take the Double… Again!

The dream continues for FC Halifax. Another season, another double. Having gone full-time at the end of last season, the extra time on the training field has already reaped dividends for the Shaymen who will begin next season in the N-Power League Division 2. As if that isn't good news enough for the fans, the team also lifted the FA Trophy for the second season in a row as well as reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

The Players have been unanimous in the support of young manager Alex T despite his often ruthless approach to transfers. Having attained a reputation for high turnover levels when it comes to players, he has proven that a young side can, with the right tactics, achieve great things.

We spoke to Joel Wilson, head of the FC Halifax supporters club about the past two seasons:
"There is a real buzz in the air around Halifax at the moment. It is seeming like nothing can go wrong when the Tinkerer gets it right. Even when it's not looking so good we manage to come out with a draw, I don't know how he does it but I'm glad he's sticking around."

End of Season Board Statement

David Bosomworth has extended his complete gratitude to the manager and team again today in response to another glorious season. Along with the board he has expressed his disbelief that the only result to mar an otherwise perfect season was a narrow loss to a Premier League side.

The board would also like to announce that, in accordance with Alex T's requests, the pitch at the Shay will be relaid this summer and that our training facilities are to be upgraded to keep us competitive with the teams around us.

We must also announce that since we will be in the same division as our affiliated club next season we have had to break off our deal with immediate effect.

Season 3: 2014/15

For the third season in a row, controversial manager Alex T has topped the transfer charts with several players leaving the club and thirteen coming in. For the first time since he took over the club the young rising star has found himself with a sizeable budget to spend on talent.

Sticking to his 'Youth breeds success' ideals Alex has still maintained an average age of 23 at FC Halifax at the end of the transfer window. With four players coming in on free transfers, a single loan signing to bolster the ranks and no less than eight players brought in for a total of £225,000 it looks like once again that the Shaymen, or what is left of the original team, mean business this season.

The most notable of the signings are Tom Hopper who stayed on after his loan from Leicester for a fee of only £7,000 much to the fans delight. His goal scoring record last season spoke for itself, making him indispensable to the club. Also joining the Halifax ranks this summer is 19 year old star Goal Keeper Nick Townsend. He signed for a record fee of £90,000 from Barrow and looks set to give last seasons Keeper Davies a run for his money for that vital first team spot.

Friendlies

With only time for two friendlies this season due to extended leave, the manager opted for a contrast of teams to help the new players gel under varied circumstances.

First up was lower league team Colwyn Bay who provided some much needed shooting practice after the summer break. Despite a late goal from the visitors the match ended 4-1 to the Shaymen although it could well have been many more.

Next up was a different match altogether. The new squads first taste of Europe, a visit from the Inter Milan reserves team who gave a masterclass in flair and positively destroyed the home team 3-0. While ultimately demoralising, many players left the field dreaming of playing in Europe for real one day.

Newly promoted FC Halifax face a real challenge now they have made it to the big leagues. Many pundits have them pegged for mid-table obscurity or even relegation. Based on Alex T's previous seasons in charge William Hill are offering special odds to FC Halifax season ticket holders:
FC Halifax promoted: 20-1
FC Halifax champions: 50-1

Get your bets in now, this offer will expire at the end of September.

It has become customary for FC Halifax to lose their final friendly and enter the league fray full of fire. This is no less the case this season with a blistering start. After the first ten games the Shaymen have secured themselves 22 points, have suffered no defeats and have five clean sheets to be proud of, a simply fantastic start for the League new-boys.

Sharing the job between the sticks, new Keeper Townsend and last seasons hero Davies have kept the defensive record at the Shay impressive to say the least. A series of draws in the build up to the Christmas period have made it tighter at the top of the table but the lead stays with FC Halifax, manager Alex T couldn't have hoped for a better present this year.

In a determined effort to make the top spot their own, Halifax needed to turn no-score bores into goals galore. Ever known as the Tinkerer, Alex T proved his tactical genius and brought in the new year with a superb 5-2 win over promotion rivals Torquay, following it up ten days later with a simply outstanding 7-1 win over local rivals, and ex-affiliates, Rotherham United.

Record Broken Yet Again

Breaking news from FC Halifax

News just in from transfer moguls FC Halifax. After smashing the clubs old transfer record during the summer it appears as if Alex T is still looking for ways to dominate in the league.

Spending £375,000 on three more players, the bulk of which went to AFC Telford for their free-kick specialist Joe McKee. Aged just 21, the midfielder has a fantastic conversion record for free-kicks, an area the Tinkerer obviously feels needs improvement at his club.

In other news one more player has been reported to have joined the club on a free transfer, bringing the total number of players being brought into FC Halifax this season to a staggering seventeen players.

The Board are proud to announce the arrival of the newest addition to the coaching team. Paul Scholes.
Having retired from the game last season, Paul was looking to stay in the game and we are honoured to have him as part of our staff. We feel his experience at all levels of the game can be a massive asset to the club.

It goes without saying these days that FC Halifax defy the odds when it comes to back to back promotions.

As we progress through the second half of Alex T's third season in charge of the Shaymen, it looks like they might just do it again. The Goal Keeping duo of Davies and Townsend have ensured that clean sheets are the norm both home and away. While at the other end of the pitch Tom Hopper, Ryan Doble and Blue Square Bet North survivor Lewis Wilson are supplying a simply awe inspiring number of goals.

As if that wasn't enough, the signing of Joe McKee seems to have paid of as Halifax are now dangerous from dead ball situations almost anywhere on the pitch. It seems as if the demolition of their league rivals only fuels the determined fires that drive this team onwards towards another title. Their third in as many years.

A stirling run of six wins back-to-back late in the season have ensured that the Shaymen are beyond the reach of the rest of the pack, there is little doubt amongst the fans that this is the best team ever to grace the Shay.

Holi-Fax Batman!

A stunned silence settled on the stands the moment the final whistle of the season blew. The fans simply couldn't comprehend what had happened.

FC Halifax had done it again… and again. Despite being crowned Champions weeks before, the end of that final match in Division 2 seemed to bring the reality of the situation home to the Shaymen fans.

The silence didn't last long as fans and players alike began to chant for their club, their players and most of all their manager, who has brought success after success to his team. Employing daring tactics and risking the displeasure of the fans and squad with his transfer policy there could be nothing but admiration for the man who has brought such glory to this small corner of West Yorkshire.

Cup Runs

The Capital One cup started as a relatively quiet one for FC Halifax, who, true to history, seemed to have the luck of the draws. Facing teams from within their own league or out of form teams from the league above, it wasn't until the Quarter-Finals that the Shaymen met any real opposition.

Premier League hangers on Wolverhampton Wanderers gave Halifax a tough wall to break down, putting on a defensive masterclass in the face of Hopper and Doble's multiple attempts on goal. It took a superb strike from Lewis Wilson in the 102nd minute to finally put them through to the next round where they would face the might of Tottenham Hotspur.

As obvious underdogs, FC Halifax where in a familiar position. Knowing that Spurs would be likely to try for an early goal, Alex T cleverly played a more defensive, counter-attacking tactic. He was rewarded with a 2-0 away advantage which stunned fans of both teams. Knowing they had to pull back the deficit seemed to make Tottenham anxious and they could all but watch as Halifax dominated at home, extending their aggregate win to 3-0 over their lofty Premiership rivals.

The day of the final loomed large in the calendar. Manchester City awaited the Shaymen at a packed out Wembley.

An early goal for City seemed to set the tone for the rest of the match as Alex T's men found themselves repeatedly having to scramble the ball clear from their area. They hung on for all they were worth and were rewarded with a penalty in the 77th minute as Lescott brought down Josh Readings in the box. Stepping up to take the penalty himself, Readings had the mettle to steer it confidently into the top corner, sending Hart the wrong way. Obviously playing for penalties FC Halifax went ultra-defensive and saw out the remainder of the match, and extra time with only a few more worrying situations at their end of the field.

The tension in the stadium was palpable as one by one the players stepped up to take their penalties. Time and time again the ball hit the back of the net until even the fans couldn't bring themselves to watch or cheer anymore. Then it happened, Josh Readings, the man who had got Halifax to this point with his penalty, missed, putting the ball just wide of the right post. Dzeko stepped up and slotted the ball past Nick Townsend.

Manchester City win on penalties 5-4.

FC Halifax sailed through the opening stages of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy before meeting league and local rivals Rotherham United in the Northern Final.

The first leg proved to be an equal affair, ending 1-1 at the Shay. The second leg would prove to be a must win game.

Going a goal down by half time was a worrying state of affairs in the second leg, but a serious half time talk from manager Alex T saw the team come back out with renewed vigour. Fantastic team work saw the Shaymen waltz into the overall final after three goals in the second half secured the tie 4-2 on aggregate.

All that stood between FC Halifax and the trophy now was Division 1 side Notts County. Having beaten bigger and better opponents already this season, the Shaymen had the advantage psychologically but the increased match schedule was beginning to take it's toll and Tom Hopper was out injured, as was star Keeper Nick Townsend. Never a side to let their heads drop, the Shaymen came out attacking, taking an early lead through Joe Curtis. By half-time however Notts County had pulled it back level and were taking the offensive. The second half carried on as the first had finished and the match looked certain to go to extra-time but a brace of goals in 5 minutes from Ryan Doble stunned the County fans and secured the trophy for FC Halifax.

In recent seasons it has become apparent that FC Halifax thrive on the thrill of the FA Cup. Breezing past the likes of Southend, Bristol and Bury, the Shaymen soon found themselves in the Semi-Finals facing Premiership new-boys Watford. Both teams have something to prove in this match, Halifax have yet to reach the final of this tournament despite coming close in the previous two seasons. For Watford, this could be a superb chance to assert their return to the top flight, and add to their trophy cabinet at the same time.

Both teams started the match looking anxious, a cagey affair which saw little action in the first half. As the teams retired to the changing rooms both managers looked happy with the scoreline if not overly impressed at their respective team's performances.

FC Halifax came out in the second half with fire in the eyes and took the game straight to Watford. Obviously expecting the Shaymen to continue the midfield to-ing and fro-ing the Hornets seemed to be caught off-guard by the sudden attack and conceded the only goal of the game in the 48th minute. Mission accomplished the Halifax players reverted to their first half ways to see out the rest of the game unthreatened by an increasingly frantic Watford side.

There was a real buzz around Wembley on final day, FC Halifax, the underdogs with a vicious bite facing a Manchester side in a final for the second time this season. This time they faced the mighty Reds.

Unlike the previous game, it was non-stop action throughout the entire game. A real battle with many chances for either side. United got the first advantage, Rooney slotting home a precision pass in the 23rd minute. By half time the scores were all square after a long range effort from Joe Curtis beat De Gea. There was to be no let-up in the second half but it was the Shaymen who took control in the 80th minute, Ryan Doble heading home a looping free-kick from Joe McKee. The celebration was short lived as United, through Rooney again, evened the scores less than three minutes later.

Extra-Time came and went with a series of attacks and counter-attacks but no final result to decide things. FC Halifax were once again faced with penalties against a club from Manchester. The Halifax fans could only hope that their side had been putting in extra practice from the spot. Nick Townsend proved his worth by stopping the first two shots he faced while his side easily put theirs into the back of the net. Rooney again thwarted Halifax's chance of an early party by slotting his penalty home. In the blink of an eye, it seemed, the scores stood at 3-2 to Halifax and Josh Readings to go next, there was a notable tension in the air as he stepped up to the spot. Could he conquer his demons from the last shoot-out and secure the trophy for his team.

Confidence evident, he didn't hesitate, putting the ball low and to the left. De Gea guessed right but couldn't get enough of his hand to the ball. The trophy was FC Halifax's.

Season 3 review: 2014/15

Triple Delight

History maker Alex T has done it again, leading his team to three cup finals and yet another league title. Winning three out of the four potential trophies on offer this season has sent the growing FC Halifax fan base into raptures. Losing out on the Capital One Cup by a whisker could hardly be seen as a failure for the League Two underdogs. Having bested a choice selection of Premier League opponents along the way, including reigning Champions Manchester United, it looks as it stature is no obstacle for the Shaymen.

The real test will come next season as they are set to face off once more against Manchester City for the Community Shield, and then the League One side will find themselves facing some of Europe's strongest sides in the Europa League. Can they continue this run of golden form, the fans certainly hope so!

End of Season Board Statement

The Board are finding themselves running out of praise for the team as year on year they exceed all expectations. David and co would like to wish the manager all the best for the coming season and it's myriad challenges.

To facilitate the teams efforts we have signed a new deal to be affiliated with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. We hope to benefit from their superb youth and reserve squad and have been promised at least one player on a season long loan. The details will be announced in the first transfer window of the coming season.

As we continue to grow as a team, in both stature and squad size, we have taken the requested step to improve our youth facilities. We hope to have the £1.6 million centre open by the festive season.

Sweet FA!

03.08.2014

In a ridiculous knee-jerk reaction the FA appointed lucky manager Alex T as the new England manager. The relative new-comer may have achieved great success at FC Halifax in recent seasons but he has no experience at the top end of the footballing spectrum.

Prepare for a few more years of English misery sports fans. Alex out we say!

In a Sun exclusive, turn to page 43 for pictures of Alex T on his holiday to Greece this summer. Fit for purpose? Fat for purpose more like.

The FA welcomed young manager Alex T to the post of England manager this August. After Roy Hodgson failed to make it past the group stages of the World Cup this summer they felt it was time to move on. Roy's last two games in charge consisted of back-to-back defeats at the hands of Japan and Columbia which was simply unacceptable compared to the expectations of the Nation and FA alike.

The new manager made an instant impact, winning the first two friendlies, most notably with the 1-0 win over Italy who have often proven to be a difficult team for England to play.

The real test would come with the European Championship Qualifications, if Alex T could prove his tactical know-how here he could start to win the respect of the Nation who have so far refused to accept him as the manager. England face an easy group; Northern Ireland, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Lithuania, but given their recent international history there is ample opportunity to slip up.

Alex T continued to impress, guiding his side to a win in all three qualification matches this year England are in a strong place in the group. 6-0 win over Slovenia in the first match, followed by a brace of wins with only one goal conceded and another six scored lends ample credence to Alex T's reputation as a Tinkerer who gets results.

In, what is considered the highlight of the international year, England stormed to a 2-0 win over world legends Brazil courtesy of two goals from Wayne Rooney in the first half.

FA End of Year Statement 2014/15

The FA would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the work Roy Hodgson did in his time as England manager. We felt it was time to pass the baton and the ground work he put in place has helped to increase England's chances in future competitions.

We have already begun to see the fruits of this as new manager, Alex T, has taken to the role with real panache. Stringing together a fantastic series of results over the past few months. The players all speak highly of him despite the media's suggestion that he wouldn't be ready for such responsibility so early in his career.

May the good results continue.

Season 4: 2015/16

The annual cull at FC Halifax continued this year with twelve players finding themselves being pushed out of the door and a further four more heading out on loan for their future development.

However, in the customary spending frenzy, Alex T has refilled his changing room with a staggering eighteen players. Eight players joined on free transfers, two came from season long loans and a club record spend of £2,645,000 in this window brought in the other eight players.

In a statement made by the Halifax board of directors, superstar Keeper from last season Nick Townsend was announced to have left for Bolton after his higher division club release clause was met. Also this window saw Halifax stalwart Lewis Wilson leave the club after a record 106 league appearances for the club. Both players will be sorely missed by the fans.

Alex T has been famed for his two Keeper rotation system over the past season so it was no surprise that Adam Davies was joined by new Keeper Sam Johnstone from Manchester United for £220,000. In a new record signing Michael West, a 24 year old Right Winger joined the squad from Crewe for a princely sum of £775,000. Alex T must have real confidence that Michael can step into the void left by Lewis Wilson.

New affiliates Sheffield Wednesday sent 18 year old English Striker Joe Nwankwo to Halifax for the season in an attempt to get him some first team football, this will put pressure on Tom Hopper and Ryan Doble for sure.

Friendlies

A very poor pre-season did not bode well for the promotion new-comers, FC Halifax. Winning only two of their five friendly matches and enduring the customary loss to the affiliated team, it is going to be a tough start to the new season for the Shaymen.

FC Halifax to secure promotion (again) this season: 14-1
FC Halifax to win the title (again) this season: 25-1
FC Halifax to be relegated this season: 10-3

Wembley is heaving today for the Community Shield match between FA Cup winners FC Halifax and Capital One Cup winners Manchester City. These teams have only met once before, on the day Man City lifted the Capital One Cup after a tense penalty shoot-out.

Everyone was expecting a fantastic game and they weren't disappointed with a back and forth exchange between the two champions resulting in a 1-0 lead to Halifax at half time thanks to a beautiful curling effort from new signing Enric Valles, the Spanish left midfielder.

The second half was to be just as exciting with Manchester City taking the lead 2-1 early on. The Shaymen didn't give up however, and Joe Nwankwo became the youngest player to ever score in the Community Shield to even the scores 2-2 in the 74th minute.

Fatigue began to show and many challenges came late, resulting in several bookings but all 22 men were still on the field when the whistle blew at the end of Extra-Time. It was to be another penalty shoot-out between these two determined sides.

New Keeper Sam Johnstone proved to be worth his weight in gold after saving the first two attempts from the Manchester City players, un-erring accuracy from the entire Halifax line-up saw their side lift the trophy, winning 4-2 on penalties.

Nothing boosts the morale of a team more than silverware in the opening weeks of a season. The instant impact of the Shaymen's newest signings can only further impress the fans of this team which is consistently defying the odds.

FC Halifax started the season in fine form, their win over Man City seemingly giving them the belief that anything is possible. Seven games into the season without so much as a goal conceded is something most teams can only dream of, coupled with the fact that only two of those games were no-score bore draws showed that there was a real desire to push for a fourth consecutive promotion this season leading some media sources to suggest that manager Alex T must have either the golden touch, or the backing of a match rigging syndicate.

It took long term rivals Bradford to finally put the ball past new Keeper Sam Johnstone in a nervy away fixture. Despite this, the match ended 1-1 and the Shaymen maintained their contest for the title. The season is still young, however, and as more and more games get rescheduled for FC Halifaxes various Cup commitments along side manager Alex T's international duties how long can Halifax keep up this pace no matter how youthful the squad is.

The Shaymen finished the calendar year in sixth position, 12 points off the top spot, but with an incredible seven games in hand! With their Keeper increasingly taking the limelight the fans have affectionately nicknamed him 'Mr Tickle' as no part of the goal seems to be beyond his reach. By the new year he had claimed an amazing thirteen clean sheets and had only conceded seven goals. Coupled with Joe Nwankwo's impressive goal scoring record it was looking increasingly likely that FC Halifax would be heading up again this season.

FC Halifax manager, Alex T, has bought in a further four players during the January transfer window. Sources close to the club have informed us that the full schedule the Shaymen are facing this season is beginning to take its toll on the squad, travelling and back-to-back matches are giving the manager selection headaches and a larger squad seems to be the only solution at this stage.

Spending £405,000 on three new players and the addition of another player signed on a free transfer, FC Halifax should now have the depth needed to see out the rest of the season.

A fee of £160,000 was paid for Right Wing Back Adam Webster, a 20 year old from Portsmouth who has shown real promise so far this season.

The new year began much as the previous one ended. An impressive eighteen matches run in a row, with only another six goals conceded, Halifax soon found themselves back at the top of the league and with an ever increasing points lead on the teams trying desperately to catch them.

However, increased fixture conflicts, fitness worries and contract expiries are beginning to take their toll on the quality of team that the manager can call on. As March rolled into April the Shaymen were facing a horrific back-log of matches with twenty games due to take place in thirty days including a daunting seven games in seven days.

When asked about the fairness of such a schedule the FA offered the following statement:
"Obviously a situation like this is unfortunate but the extra-ordinary circumstances surrounding this particular club have left us with no space for manoeuvre as the league must be completed on time. The cups must run according to the pre-set schedule and international duties must be met. The manager of FC Halifax was offered a chance to step down as England manager to ease the load earlier this season but he was adamant his team could cope with any level of pressure the fixture list could throw at them."

True to his word Alex T managed his squad to perfection, trading rest periods for his key players for points in the league. A series of draws from the reserve players and even a sprinkling of youth team players saw their position in the league continue to be stable while allowing the main squad to continue to dominate outside of the league.

Once again proving that you can win things with youngsters, FC Halifax rounded off the season with a run of three wins in a row, once again true to the form that the fans have come to expect. Sam Johnstone and Joe Nwankwo were heralded as the heroes of the season, in a scene reminiscent of some Hollywood sports movies they were carried aloft by their fellow team-mates and given a lap of honour in front of an adoring home crowd on the last day of the season.

FC Halifax's truly inspirational story continues into the Championship next season.

How The Fax?

For the fourth season in a row FC Halifax have not only secured promotion but taken the title as well.

Halifax are now the second biggest team in West Yorkshire and will vie for dominance this coming season against Leeds United.

Fans are at a loss to explain the sudden turn around for their team but aren't about to argue with the ongoing trend. Experts from the world of football have put forward a theory that 'success breeds success'. By earning prize money from cup runs and good league finishes the development of FC Halifax has been hyper-accelerated to the point that failure at this juncture could well be catastrophic. However, by not over-reaching in terms of serious investment; for example: a new stadium, it is entirely possible that the Shaymen could well face a poor season and survive.

Only time will tell.

Cup Runs

As the only domestic competition that FC Halifax haven't won it was clear from the outset that they meant business this season, blasting aside all opposition to reach the fourth round.

Meeting QPR would prove to be the first hurdle that could halt the Halifax machine, it was looking like the end already as the Hoops went 2-0 up early on. By half time Joe Nwankwo had made it 2-1 before a second half blitz saw the Shaymen through 4-2.

Next was to be Millwall, victory here would set the scene for Halifax's coming season chances. A 5-0 demolition showed great promise and sent the Millwall fans home with their tail between their legs.

After defeating both Wigan and Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 to reach the final, all that stood between FC Halifax and the coveted trophy is Newcastle United. It would probably go down in history as one of the most boring cup finals ever, with barely a highlight in all 120 minutes of tedium. However this meant that the Shaymen would be facing yet another cup final penalty shoot-out, would last years nerves get the better of them?

After the match the fans had endured they were due some entertainment, the tension of a shoot-out was the place to find it. After five penalties each it was all square and sudden-death would determine this years winner. Coloccini was the first to miss which put all the pressure on Halifax Wing-back Troy Brown. He did not look confident as he made his run but an unexpected and perfectly executed dummy shot and chip down the middle combination secured the trophy for the Shaymen. Last seasons curse seemed to be well and truly lifted.

The Johnstone's Paint Trophy should prove to be no challenge for a team as accomplished as FC Halifax, but it often the nature of football that the matches you should win are the ones you struggle with most.

However this is not the nature of the Shaymen in their current form and before long they found themselves in the Northern Final facing old rivals Notts County. Two legs and five separate scorers later FC Halifax found themselves set to meet Oxford United in the overall final, beating Notts County 5-2 on aggregate.

The match against Oxford summed up the aforementioned adage. This should have been a foregone conclusion but bar the 45th+2 minute individual effort from season star Joe Nwankwo this could well have been another penalty shoot-out. The lion's share of attempts went Oxford's way but the equaliser was not forthcoming and Halifax secured the second Johnstone's Paint Trophy is two years.

They wouldn't be competing in the tournament next season much to the relief of the teams who will be there.

Last seasons FA Cup champions would have a lot to prove this season. Based on their success in other tournaments and the league it would be an important test of their depth for them to make it through to the latter stages.

Their first real test came in the third round where they met Premiership new-boys Hull City. Going to the KC stadium is never easy, the atmosphere was electric from the start but a quick fire double from Joe Nwankwo and Josh Readings put the Tigers in a difficult position. While they managed to pull one back later in the game, Halifax had shown their desire to defend their title with the 2-1 win away from the Shay.

The following rounds consisted of various Championship and Division One sides who proved to be no problem for the rampaging Shaymen. Even West Ham were brushed aside with a 1-0 win in the Semi-Final.

Final day was to be a nervy affair. FC Halifax would face Arsenal, their nemesis from two seasons past. Never ones to back down, the Shaymen came out of the traps full of fire. Arsenal's back line proved to be up to the job and easily repulsed all attempts on goal. However, at the other end of the pitch it was much the same story and the match soon boiled down to a midfield battle. Half time came and went with little change in the pace of the play, it was to be James Wallace who put the ball into the back of the net with true style. An amazing 35 yard lobbed free-kick silenced the crowd.

There was a moment of stunned disbelief from the Shaymen fans before they began to chant for their sides second FA Cup in two seasons.

To date the only taste of Europe that FC Halifax had was a depressing 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Inter Milan reserve team. Desperate to prove that they had put that result behind them there was an eager air of expectation ahead of their first match against Partizan Belgrade. When asked after the match most fans described the experience as surreal and almost like being in a dream. Only four minutes into the match Joe Nwankwo fired Halifax ahead, Belgrade never replied and Nwankwo went on to score another three goals in the game. A fifth from James Wallace put the match well and truly in the record books.

It was to be a tough group for Halifax however, faced with world famous opponents Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven there was no expectation for the Shaymen to do anything more than enjoy the experience and learn all that they could.

But the Halifax machine continued to roll with 3-0 and 3-2 wins over PSV. Dortmund would prove to be more difficult however and the Shaymen could only manage two 0-0 draws. It was enough to keep them joint top of the group however and it would boil down to the final match and goal difference to see who would come out on top in the end. With the final matches going ahead at the same time, the Shaymen had to focus on their match and hope that the result went their way in Dortmund's game.

The point was moot in the end as a brace of goals from Joe Nwankwo won the game 2-1 for Halifax and Dortmund suffered their only defeat of the group.

FC Halifax were through to the knock-out stages of the Europa League!

What The Fax?

For the first time ever, this reporter is lost for words.

FC Halifax have romped their way to the top of their Europa League group. Scoring thirteen goals and only conceding three, they have seen off top teams from around the continent to reach the knock-out stage of the tournament.

At this stage it would be foolish to write off the team that no-one thought would even get a point, let alone fourteen out of a possible eighteen. If I was a betting man, and I am, I'd head down to the bookies now and put a bet on Halifax to win.

In fact I'm going to do just that.

FC Halifax would prove to be the destroyer of the Dutch hopes in this seasons Europa League. Having already dumped out PSV at the group stage they were set to meet AZ Alkmaar in the first knock-out round of the cup. A goal for Joe Nwankwo in both legs put Halifax through 2-0 to meet, and beat, LOSC 2-0 over the two legs.

The run was proving to be a dream for the manager and players alike, and drawn against Dynamo Kiev and Ajax in the next two rounds there was to be plenty of challenges still left to overcome. The Shaymen were unstoppable by this point and they romped their way to the final against last seasons champions Rubin who had, themselves, beaten the mighty Barcelona to reach the final.

The final was to be played at Estadio Do Dragao, home of Portuguese giants Porto. It was a full house who watched history being made as FC Halifax made light work of the reigning champions. Star of the tournament Joe Nwankwo led the way with a 22nd minute wonder-strike from 35 yards, Troy Brown was to score the second late in the second half when a perfectly placed corner kick found his head waiting to point the ball into the top corner.

Season 4 review: 2015/16

Six Of The Best!

It had never been achieved before in English football, but this season FC Halifax, a rapidly rising star in the English Leagues has completed a sextet of successes. The Division One side has filled their trophy cabinet to overflowing with the addition of another League title, their second FA Cup, the Capital One Cup, the Community Shield, their second Johnstone's Paint Trophy and, in perhaps the most shocking achievement of all, the Europa League trophy.

The team are scheduled to tour Halifax this coming weekend in an open topped bus for a two-day celebration of their achievements. A celebration that many fans began earlier this week.

A spokesman for the FC Halifax supported club told us:

"We simply can't believe it, things have been going fantastically over the previous seasons but even the most optimistic of us never expected this. I'll freely admit I was one of the first to criticise the appointment of Alex T, after all no-one had ever heard of him, but now we are considering putting him forward for Mayor! As long as it wouldn't interfere with his running of the club…"

It seems that the fans are desperate to hang on to their manager, but despite signing a new deal not long ago, surely they can't keep hold of him for much longer. We asked him for a statement:

"I pledged my future to this club when I stated that my 'work here isn't done yet'. That still holds true, there are trophies yet to win and I've just ordered the trophy room extending! We have achieved history this season, this club, it's players and fans and all of the back room staff here at the Shay all played a part in that. To them I offer my thanks and make a new pledge: First the Premier League and then the Champions League!"

Strong words from Alex T but few are doubting his ability to see them come true with the evidence shown thus far. When asked about running for Mayor he had this to say:

"It's a very flattering thought but I've never been one for politics. Besides, when would I have the time; England, FC Halifax and Mayor? I don't think so. I'd settle for the Key to the City though…"

End of Season Board Statement

On behalf of David Bosomworth, who is speechless, the board have commissioned a statue to be erected at the Shay commemorating Alex T and the team in this historic season. They would like to inform the fans that the funding for this will be coming from their own pockets so as to not limit the clubs rapid expansion. We will also be holding a shareholders dinner next week to celebrate Alex being inducted into the English managers Hall of Fame earlier this year.

To this end we have ordered the training facilities to be improved again and in order to meet the minimum requirements for the Championship we have ordered a further 731 seats to be added to the North stand.

Alex T has also requested that we increase our scouting range to meet the new demands that the higher leagues will place on us, we have agreed to include all of Europe as potential destinations for our scouting team.

We have also had to terminate our affiliation with Sheffield Wednesday as we are to be in the same division next season.

Season 4: European Championships 2016

Friendlies 2015/16

England asserted their dominance on the European scene early this season. In a risky tactical move by manager Alex T, they were set to face some of the top FIFA ranked teams prior to the start of the European Championships in 2016.

To ease into the seasons matches England faced up and coming team the United States. Despite a plucky showing from the Yanks the match finished a comfortable 5-2. England were then set to face twice consecutive World Champions, twice consecutive European Champions and FIFA number one ranked side Spain.

On home turf England just could not be bested, scoring early on in the first half and again towards half time. Spain came out fighting in the second half but couldn't best Joe Hart who kept a clean sheet and was voted the man of the match as well. A late goal from Welbeck secured a great 3-0 victory over the best side in the World.

As the penultimate challenge to prepare for the European Championships, Alex T arranged a friendly against old rivals Germany. The result of this match could well set the tone for the entire summer's football. Well known as the most methodical side in Europe Germany proved hard to break down, even taking the lead towards half time with a superb strike from Mario Gotze. England would not be beaten however and clawed back a hard earned 1-1 draw through Theo Walcott.

Had the result against Germany gone worse, shrewd Alex T had arranged a final match against Switzerland. A good side but comparatively lacking in overall team strength. This was evident from the kick off as England romped to a 4-1 win, only conceding late in the game as the home players seemed to take a breather.

European Championship Qualifiers - Group H

In the final matches of the qualifying group, England continued to dominate. Beating local rivals Northern Ireland 4-0 in one of the more impressive outings.

England finished top of the group in style, having won five out of the last five, and were to be joined at the tournament by group underdogs Northern Ireland.

An e-mail received by Alex T direct from the Sky Bet odds centre:

Group Stage - Group C

England drew a relatively easy group for this years tournament, but as everyone knows in football there are no easy matches. Having beaten Northern Ireland during the qualification stages there was an air of expectation around the England fans who were right to place their faith in their side as England eased their way to a 3-1 win.

Denmark and Belgium would prove to be slightly tougher nuts to crack, a last minute winner to make it 3-2 against Denmark and a tight 1-0 victory over Belgium, as Alex T celebrated his 300th match as a manager, saw England take the top spot in their group, qualifying alongside Belgium.

Finals

The final stages of the European Championships are always nervy affairs, even more so when the fans are expecting to at least reach the final. Alex T's record as England manager so far has given the fans high hopes but the quality of opposition still in the tournament would prove to have no easy path to the final.

England drew Turkey in the second round, expecting a rout the English fans were disappointed with the 1-0 win. The manager was more realistic, overheard as say that Turkey had 'parked the bus'.

Next they would face hosts France in the Quarter-Finals. Despite some ugly scenes prior to the match, the crowds calmed enough for the game to proceed. France played exceptionally in front of a home crowd and could have taken the lead several times. Joe Hart was superb however and an inspirational long distance strike from Wayne Rooney secured England's progression.

Having faced Germany in a friendly earlier in the year there was a tense atmosphere as the Semi-Final kicked off. Again England found themselves facing heavy pressure from the Deutsch side but the defence proved to be up to the challenge. A corner in the second half found Tom Huddlestone's head and he directed it past the Keeper for the win.

On A Swiss-Roll

'England Expects' is the mantra on all of the nation's fans today as England face recent whipping boys Switzerland in the 2016 European Championship final.

Having beaten the Swiss 4-1 prior to the competition there is an air of confidence around the match which overrules the natural worries about England's previous performances at the latter stages in a competition.

However, since ex-manager Roy Hodgson failed to even get out of the group stages of the last World Cup, it has come as a breath of fresh air that young manager Alex T has brought us this far.

This paper hasn't always supported his appointment but his record over the past couple of years speaks for itself. Since he took over the England side known for silly mistakes has gone undefeated for a record breaking 24 matches. Take a deep breath England, today we find out if we are Champs or Chumps.

The Final

On a mild summer's evening at Stade de France, England had the honour of lifting the European Championship Trophy after a 3-1 victory over Switzerland.

Things did not get off to a good start for Switzerland as Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney, seized on an error by Stephan Lichtsteiner to score a well timed close range effort. Midfielder Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain doubled England's lead with a deftly executed finish on 11 minutes.

Striker Nassim Ben Khalifa pulled one back for Switzerland after 35 minutes with a close range header but the match was put beyond doubt when explosive striker Theo Walcott rounded off the victory in the 81st minute with a well placed shot.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Could there have ever been any doubt about it, England are the best team in Europe. Bring on the world!

FA End of Year Statement 2015/16

The FA would like to extend their congratulations to the 2016 European Championship squad for their exceptional performance. It was a real pleasure to see our nation rise to the top and bring the trophy home to England for the first time. Our heart-felt thanks go to Alex T and his staff who have steered our boys to victory and have given the past two years an amazing undefeated run to be proud of.

This is no better shown than in the summers success and recent announcement that we now top the FIFA ranking table.

We hope to go on from here to push for qualification to the next World Cup and have high expectations that this current run of form can continue as new talent comes through the excellent youth training facilities that this proud nation can boast.

Here's to a bright future for England.

Can I ask what the point in "reserving" posts was? It's not like it matters what order they go in. It's basically just spam if I'm honest.
