With only two matches in the league this month it would be more important than ever for FC Halifax to secure as many points as possible in order to assert themselves in the new division. Having already proven themselves to be relentless in their progress it wouldn't do to show weakness at this stage of the season.

Colchester were first to feel the wrath of the Shaymen, being punished with a 3-0 defeat. However Millwall would be a harder nut to crack. With the Lions going 1-0 up early on at the Den, Halifax spent the rest of the match chasing the ball. Some fans even reported being able to hear manager Alex T's half-time talk, which was dubbed the 'half-time scream', it seemed to have the required motivational effect, however, as the Shaymen came out in the second half with extra fire in their eyes.

It would take a dubious penalty after a clean looking tackle from Abdou for Halifax to draw level. Josh Readings stepped up and put the ball in the back of the net, coping admirably with the jeers of the Millwall fans. While four points from six may have seemed like a poor month, it could have been a lot worse for the Halifax cause.

FC Halifax would face league rivals Reading in the third round of the Capital One Cup this month. With an already full schedule it was looking likely that squad rotation would be key to the success of this season for the Shaymen.

Michael West placed a perfect free-kick into the top corner from twenty yards out leaving the Reading Keeper rooted to the spot. The rest of the game would pass without event as Halifax seemed content to sit back and keep the increasingly desperate Royals away from their goal.

As FC Halifax don't meet the minimum requirements for stadium capacity all of their home matches will be played at the nearby Valley Parade stadium, home of Bradford City. This is good news for the Shaymen as the increased ticket revenue should help boost their ever decreasing financial safety net. Gifted a relatively safe group in the Europa League it came as no surprise when the reigning Champions found themselves with two wins from two games this month.

Sevilla proved to be the most difficult to break down with Apostolos Vellios getting his first goal for the Shaymen in the 79th minute. The professional finish he applied to the shot showed great promise for the Striker.

Standard Liege were less troublesome, Victor Anichebe headed home the only goal of the game 17 minutes into the first half.

September Review

With only one draw and one goal conceded this month has been a fantastic effort by the FC Halifax team, with new Keeper Fraser Forster already proving his worth. Constant tactical alterations seem to be keeping all opposition on the back foot and have further confirmed the Tinkerer's reputation as a man with a plan.
Bradford have a bigger ground than you? :O
2013-05-09 16:43#99070 Louis O. : Bradford have a bigger ground than you? :O
I started in the Blue Square Bet North and have only added 700 seats... current capacity is a measly 7000ish. Valley Parade is an ex-premiership clubs ground with seating for 20k or so.

I'm hoping to relocate soon but it'll take premiership attendances to get it i reckon *sigh* it is the source of all my money issues at the moment, losing nearly a million a month right now =(

October

As the nights start to close in, FC Halifax start to feel the effects of competing on multiple fronts. Already the fixtures are backing up and five games behind the rest of the league sees the Shaymen hovering just outside of the playoff positions. Based on previous form it is looking positive for the West Yorkshire underdogs, only ten points separate them front the top spot and with fifteen points of potential still to be decided the bookmakers are already taking bets on Halifax achieving the unthinkable, another promotion this season.

Wigan would be the first of three home games for the Shaymen this month. A capacity crowd turned out to see the ex-Premiership club take on the relentless Halifax machine. They wouldn't be disappointed as the traditional too-ing and fro-ing resolved itself in Anthony Forde drifting in from the right wing and punching the ball past the scrambling Keeper.

Local Rivals Huddersfield were the next to feel defeat at the Shay. Another capacity crowd turned out for the event which would see the visiting side on the receiving end of a set-piece that showed signs of much practice on the training ground. Ghanaian Centre-back Lee Addy rose above all opposition to head home the winning goal in the 65th minute.

The final visitors to the Shay were Bristol City, having just suffered a home defeat to FC Halifax in the Capital One cup they would be looking to even the score by robbing the Shaymen of their astounding run of form. In another close match that would give few highlights, it would be Marcos Lopes who penetrated the Robins defences to get on the end of a perfected weighted through ball. A simple pass into the back of the net secured a full nine points from the month for Halifax.

FC Halifax would travel to the Portuguese club Maritimo for the mid-point of the group stages. Used to performing in front of small crowds it was still a shock for the Shaymen to play for a crowd of only two and a half thousand, mostly hostile, fans.

It didn't take long for the visiting Yorkshire-men to take the lead. Vellios firing the ball home form close range in the 11th minute. Just before half time the home side pulled level giving the Halifax manager some serious work to do at half time. It wouldn't be until the 80th minute, however, when substitute defender Tommy Elphick pounced on a lose ball and put the visitors ahead once more giving the Shaymen a full nine points in Europe so far.

FC Halifax travelled to Bristol for the fourth round of the Capital One Cup. With the majority of the action coming in the first half, the whistle blew at 1-1. The second half would be a battle in the midfield, one team seeking a gap in the defence of the other only to have to rush back to defend their own goal shortly afterwards.

There would be no let up by the 90th minute and Extra-Time would prove no more decisive. Tiredness and frustration boiling over into a mess of yellow cards and rash challenges.

The dreaded penalty shoot-out loomed ever larger until it was inevitable. Having lost only one shoot-out under the watchful eye of Alex T the Shaymen fans waiting with baited breath to see if their team would progress in a tournament they have seen such success in.

It started promising with Forster making a key save from the first kick, there then followed a succession of rapid penalties culminating in a tense 3-4 lead to Halifax. It would be Forster who sealed the deal with a superb save down low to his left. As the Bristol fans showed their displeasure the Shaymen following erupted into song.

October Review

Another month of glory for the Shaymen. With five games played and five games won, there was an air of celebration around the local town. The manager, however, was often reported as unhappy with his sides performances, obviously feeling they should have been winning these matches by a much bigger margin.

The biggest positive no doubt was the minimal goals conceded by recent acquisition Fraser Forster.
Couldn't have had a better month.

November

The first match in the league this month would be the most thrilling of the season so far. Recent Premiership side Aston Villa made an instant impression on the visitors. Morrison put them ahead after only three minutes while the pace of Sammon and Bent proved to be too much for the Shaymen's defence as Villa went 3-0 up by the 26th minute.

The boos and jeers of the Halifax fans was an unaccustomed sound but it seemed to spur their side on. Just four minutes after Bent's goal Anthony Forde curled one past the sprawled Villa Keeper. There was a feeling of hope as the sides went in for their half time talk.

Less than a minute after the restart Michael West pulled another one back for the visiting side only to be followed five minutes later by Haris Vuckic equalising much to the shock and despair of the home fans. It started to look like a draw, especially when Vuckic pulled up short with a suspected muscle problem. His replacement would waste no time however, Apostolos Vellios surged through the tiring defence to put the Shaymen ahead for the first time. Florent Cuvelier added to the home sides misery with a well placed shot from distance. At 5-3 to FC Halifax this was looking like the most amazing turn around.

Aston Villa would not give up but it would only be a conciliation when Sammon scored their fourth goal in the 91st minute.
FC Halifax's 5-4 win against Aston Villa in the npower Championship is a new record high scoring game. The previous highest scoring game FC Halifax were involved in was the 7-1 win over Cambridge in the English FA Trophy Semi Final in February 2014.

Halifax would face Peterborough and Cardiff in their next league matches, surprisingly after their previous goal-fest the Posh would hold rampant FC Halifax to a 1-1 draw. Cardiff, a side hotly tipped for promotion, found themselves falling prey to Apostolos Vellios as he looked to secure his position in the starting eleven while Striking rival Vuckic was out injured. He scored two superb goals past a strong defensive display by the Bluebirds.

Alex T Reaches Milestone

Respected boss Alex T will celebrate his 300th game in charge of FC Halifax Town when his team play Charlton Athletic in the npower Championship on Friday.

With the Shaymen playing steadily in the league, Alex will want to ensure that his players don't pay the landmark too much attention and turn their thoughts to the game itself.

FC Halifax celebrated their managers 300th league match in charge by rounding the month off with a 1-0 win over promotion candidates Charlton Athletic.

Florent Cuvelier, the fan favourite midfielder, received the ball on the edge of the opposition box and fired home a vicious shot.

There would be two matches in Europe for the Shaymen this month. Portuguese side Maritimo would be first to take on Halifax, going down 1-0 to a brilliant header from defender Adam Webster in the 37th minute.

Sevilla would again prove to be the toughest of the challenges in the group. In a great display of football both teams showed a real possibility of scoring with multiple chances but these were equalled by a superb defensive display, the match would end 0-0 with both sets of fans feeling the result was a fair one.

In the final match of the month, FC Halifax faced Watford in the Capital One Cup Quarter Final. Falling behind after an early penalty was not what the fans had hoped to see. Things only got worse when just before half time Elford-Alliyu made a mockery of the Halifax defence and scored his second of the match.

After the standard half time grilling from their manager, the Shaymen came out in the second half with a real determination to turn the game around. Ten minutes into the second half Michael West pulled one back with a superb free-kick from just outside the Watford area.

Just two minutes later, having recently returned to fitness, Haris Vuckic latched onto a long ball to charge the Watford Keeper in a one-on-one situation that he didn't fail to take advantage of. There followed a frenzied vying for dominance as Watford felt the match slipping away from what seemed like a secure lead. Vuckic would be the hero of the moment after taking advantage of a chaotic scramble in the eighteen yard box following a corner to slot home the winner.

Bosomworth To Step Down?

English FA Cup holders FC Halifax Town are believed to be the subject of a takeover bid, according to a report from Sky Sports News.

FC Halifax Town's chairman, David Bosomworth, is looking to sell the club and a local businessman could be in line to take over in the near future.

November Review

It has been yet another successful month for the Shaymen. With five wins out of seven and four clean sheets there is a budding optimism that this could be another record breaking season for FC Halifax Town.

December

December started with the last group stage game of the Europa League. FC Halifax would face Belgian side Standard Liege who, so far, had been the whipping boys of the group without even a point to their name. A short trip across the North Sea saw the Shaymen finish their group in style, a televised match away from home.

Scott Wooton rose above all opposition to head the ball home in the 11th minute and despite the frenzied attempts from the home side to try and secure at least one point from their European campaign the play would go all Halifax's way. A rare goal from defensive midfielder Vadis Odjidja half way through the second half confirmed the result and the Shaymen's progression was achieved with only two points dropped. Having only scored seven goals in the six games, it wouldn't be the most memorable European group stage but the combined efforts of Fraser Forster and Sam Johnstone meant that with only one goal conceded the Shaymen would progress with the best goal difference as well.

Euro've Got To Be Kidding!

Alex T has done it again! In two consecutive seasons he has lead his low division side through the group stages of the Europa League. The reigning Champions still stand a chance of defending their title. Could it be two in two for the West Yorkshire up and comers.

Here at the Sun we think so, since joining the club five years ago there are only three possible trophies that the Shaymen haven't won. While a lot of that is down to the sheer amount of effort put in by the players, many reports state that the man known as 'The Tinkerer' encourages the levels of creativity that have so far brought such success to the Halifax trophy room.

Head to www.thesun.co.uk/getbehindtheshaymen to print out your free Europa League final stages chart and follow FC Halifax as they head towards the final once more.

Playing catch up when you are several games behind is never easy. FC Halifax would face nine league matches this month, including some tricky fixtures against teams like Bolton, Leeds United and QPR.

First up was ex-affiliated team Sheffield Wednesday. It was the first time Joe Nwankwo would face the club that so enjoyed having him on loan. He was greeted by the Halifax fans as one of their own and even when he scored to equalise for the visitors, after Odjidja's professionally finished effort had put the home side ahead, there was a low round of applause from the admiring Halifax faithful. The match would end a draw but was considered a fair result by all.

Next Halifax would host past season rivals Nottingham Forest, one of the few clubs to have beaten the Shaymen since Alex T took over so long ago. It was looking like a grim repeat of history when the Shaymen went 1-0 down only 15 minutes into the match, but true to form, and after a half time talk in the traditional Alex T fury style, FC Halifax took control. David Mellor, Apostolos Vellios and defender Lee Addy all found the back of the net to secure yet another glorious comeback for their side.

The Shaymen went into the next match with the knowledge that a win would put them top of the league for the first time this season. Despite their impressive run of form, the sheer amount of matches they have in hand had kept them from the top spot thus far. All that stood in their way was Burnley, but not for long. It took Vellios less than one minute to score the opening goal. He would go on to score a hat-trick by the 57th minute without any sign of a reply from Burnley who had, in truth, controlled the match. They would eventually score a conciliation goal but a fourth goal for Halifax from young winger Adria put the final nail in the coffin. Even with the lions share of the possession, Burnley simply couldn't make it count and FC Halifax found themselves topping the table at last.

Halifax would travel West to Bolton next to pay a visit to ex-player and fan favourite Nick Townsend. The Keeper having been controversially sold due to a release clause in his contract. Keen to greet him in the only way they know how, the Shaymen would have to wait until nearly half time before Lee Addy found himself on the end of a saved shot, despite proving his reflexes already there was nothing Nick Townsend could do to stop the rebound from being powered home by the Ghanaian defender.
Michael West would make it 2-0 shortly after half time and Bolton's only response was a late goal from Andrews. The Shaymen would march onwards once more.

A local derby is always a fan favourite, never more so when it is two teams like Leeds United and FC Halifax. Leeds, whose fall from grace has been well documented over the years would play host to their up and coming neighbours. This match had been a real treat in the first match of the season and would prove to be so once more. There was a real improvement on the overall cohesion of the Shaymen this time around however and they dominated on the shots front. Despite this they would only find the net twice, both times through superb movement from Apostolos Vellios. Showing that quality is always better than quantity Leeds United took possession throughout and despite having half the number of shots, overall and on target, they would find the net twice as well.

Never ones to let a draw stall their momentum the Shaymen played host to Watford and Leicester within the next week. Watford put up a brave fight but could only leave defeated with a 2-1 result. It would be worse for Leicester however, they would feel that they could well have won at least a point from the match if not for a disastrous own goal by Danny Drinkwater, attempting to head the ball off his own line he could only direct it up into the top netting.

FC Halifax were playing with real confidence now and they headed South to meet QPR next. In a match that everyone expected to end in a draw it came as some surprise when the Shaymen demolished the ex-premiership side 4-0. Adria scoring after only 5 minutes set the scene for the rest of the game and another own goal, the second in favour of Halifax in two games, increased their lead just before half time. The second half followed suit as David Mellor and Apostolos Vellios finished the rout on manager Alex T's birthday, the perfect present.

The final match of the month, indeed the final match of the calendar year, Derby would head to the Shay to meet the non-stop points gathering machine of Halifax. Keen to seal the deal, Lee Addy put the home side in front from a well rehearsed corner in the 4th minute. Derby threw everything they could at the Shaymen but it wouldn't do them any good. Matty Done put in a rare appearance and showed his worth with a goal in the 58th minute.

FC Halifax Take-Over Latest

With speculation rife about the potential take-over of FC Halifax by local businessman Liam Palmer, Sky Sports can exclusively reveal that he has taken control today after a successful £13.25M bid.

Fans and staff alike were waiting with baited breath for this announcement and it should see the end to the recent Transfer Embargo put in place by a cautious Halifax board, just in time for the January window.

Previous Chairman David Bosomworth spoke to us about the take-over:

"We were keen to get t'deal done as soon as possible. T'club and t'fans were getting anxious about missing out on t'transfer window and hopefully t'extra funds that Liam can bring to the Shay will help it t'achieve t'goals everyone is starting t'expect."

He went on to issue his thanks:

"I want t'thank t'fans for all of their support over the years, we've seen good times and bad but t'roller coaster has been climbing high for a few seasons now and I feel that t'club needs more than I can offer. I'll miss everyone but I'll still be there, just in t'stands from now on. Alex T and I remain firm friends and I will certainly be watching his career with interest."

Shortly after this interview, David left the Shay for the last time and we got to speak to the new Chairman, Liam Palmer, who had made his fortune in the haulage industry, he told us:

"I've supported FC Halifax for as long as I can remember so when I heard that David was looking to sell the club I simply couldn't refuse. The past few seasons have been amazing and to be part of that is quite possibly the best thing I can think of doing with my money. I'd like to apologise to the fans and staff for the stress that a pending take-over can put on people, but that should all be behind us now. While I aren't looking to provide any direct investment at this stage that shouldn't dissuade us from planning for the future, whatever it may bring."

December Review

In a month when Leicester have been deducted 10 points for going into administration, finance has never been a more important issue. The takeover of FC Halifax Town will help keep the wolves at bay but it is essential that the Shaymen continue their winning ways to prevent the coffers from emptying rapidly.

On the field things couldn't be going better, a 77% win rate in the nine games meant that Alex T was awarded the Manager of the Month award for the first time this season. Merry Christmas everyone.
Excellent results mate! Flying at the top of the championship with so many games in hand awesome!

January

In a surprisingly quiet transfer windows for FC Halifax, only one player was brought into the squad. Andros Townsend would join the Shaymen until the end of the season from their affiliated parent team, Tottenham Hotspur.

The lack of spending was further evidence of the financial worries at the Shay. Despite the recent take-over the restricted income of the club is fast being out done by the increasing wage demands of the higher leagues.

In an attempt to lower the wage bill, manager Alex T has sent several players out on loan and allowed out of favour central defender Tom Aldred to leave the club on a free transfer.

Semi Final Leg 1

Cup holders FC Halifax would face Sunderland at the Shay in the semi-final of the competition. Despite the home advantage there seemed to be little fight in the Shaymen, defence seemed to be the order of the day as they sought to frustrate their Premiership rivals. It seemed to be working as a series of rash challenges in the second half led to Marcos Alonso being sent off for the visitors.

The match would end 0-0 with few highlights to show for the effort.

Semi Final Leg 2

Halifax travelled to the North-East for the second leg of the semi-final and revealed their plan early on. It seems as though the defensive display in the first leg was designed to put their opponents at ease, luring them to believe that the Shaymen feared the attacking strength of the Sunderland squad. From the first whistle it was all out attack, a shocked Sunderland defence couldn't cope with the speed and suddenness of the attack. Apostolos Vellios surged through to latch onto a lofted through-ball and fired the ball home with a superb half-volley.

Sunderland recovered somewhat towards the end of the first half and were showing promise on the attack. As the second half started it looked as if an equaliser was on the cards but the Shaymen defence were unbeatable today. In the 75th minute Scott Wootton got his head onto the end of a corner to the front post and guided it past the scrambling Sunderland Keeper.

The final awaits once more for FC Halifax.

In the FA Cup 4th round Millwall would travel to the Shay to take on the current holders and seemed more than up to the challenge. An early goal from Abdou put the Lions ahead, and true to their nickname they dominated the field of play with pride.

It wasn't until the second half when central defender Adam Webster headed home the equaliser from a free-kick chipped over the wall that the Shaymen began to take control of the game. Despite several attempts from both teams the match would end 1-1 with the replay due to be played early the next month.

A cup heavy month meant that FC Halifax would be set to fall further behind with their schedule of fixtures but there were still 12 points up for grabs to help keep them at the top of the table.

The first two games would feature Colchester and Crystal Palace, both of which failed to score past the solid defence of the Shaymen. At the other end of the pitch Halifax would show them how it was done, scoring two goals in each game the pick of which was a superb solo effort from young winger Adria. Picking up the ball on the half way line and beating no less than three opposition players before calmly placing the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the eighteen yard box.

Towards the end of the month tiredness was becoming a major factor. With several key players being rested after recent cup matches, there was a decrease in the usual cohesion of the Shaymen. Barnsley took full advantage of this weakness to take the lead within the first 5 minutes of their match. With their manager screaming from the sidelines in his usual, passionate, fashion, the FC Halifax players soon pulled themselves together and a quick-fire double sent the visitors in at half time 2-1 to the good, the second half would end with no further changes to the score.

With nine points out of twelve already in the bag, Halifax would host Millwall once more. Both sides seemed to want to settle the score prior to the upcoming FA Cup replay and there was a real urgency in the first half. Apostolos Vellios put the home side ahead in the 35th minute but just before half time Millwall pulled level. The second half was an almost carbon copy of the recent FA Cup match, both sides having several attempts, mostly long distance frustration born shots, but some coming close enough to test the Keepers. When the final whistle eventually went both sets of fans went away wondering how their side hadn't won the match.

January Review

It has been a successful month for FC Halifax. Reaching the Capital One Cup final again this season was the main highlight but our continued league success and presence in the FA Cup are also highlights.

As a result of the potential future of the club being at the highest level of football, Liam Palmer has issued the following statement:

"While I stated that I wouldn't be investing anything into the club directly at this point in time, I am aware that it is essential we look to the new generation of players coming through the academies in order to remain competitive with our rivals, present and in the seasons to come. After discussions with Alex T we have settled on an upgrade to the youth facilities which should allow us to move up a level in our youth development plans. The contraction will begin at the end of the season and we expect the £1,300,000 development to be complete by the beginning of October this year."

Excellent results there mate! Stayed unbeaten and kept up the strong results in the Championship.

February

February started with a replay that FC Halifax could ill afford. As the season progresses they could well be faced with a back log of matches like last season. As Millwall have proven already this season, they are no easy opponents even to a side that has so recently beaten some of the best teams in Europe.

A packed crowd at the Shay chanted their welcome to the visiting Lion fans and the atmosphere was electric as the whistle finally blew. The Halifax team seemed filled with the expectations of the crowd and surged forwards in a superb display of passing and movement. As the Millwall players scrambled back towards their own goal Haris Vuckic found himself running clear to receive a perfectly weighted through-ball. Keeping his composure as the Keeper closed on him, he picked a spot and virtually passed the ball into the back of the net. An incredible start for the Shaymen.

A one goal lead is never enough in any match and faced with the increasing desperation of the Millwall players Halifax found themselves with a constant battle to clear their lines. The majority of the match would descend into a midfield battle with the occasional attempt that the Keepers comfortably dealt with. As tiredness in both teams became evident the chances came more frequently and a major defensive mistake left Wylde open to receive a cross from the far left. He had all the time in the world to head it home and suddenly Millwall were level with only five minutes to go.

Determined to not have to face extra time or penalties the Shaymen through everything they had at the Millwall defence, another fine period of passing opened enough of gap for Marcos Lopes to fire a long shot that seemed to take the Lion's Keeper off-guard and he could only watch as it sailed into the top corner. With only a minute of time added on to play there was no time for the visiting team to reply and FC Halifax would continue once again.

Manchester City: 1-2 (Fav) Draw: 13-5 FC Halifax: 9-2 (English FA Cup Fifth Round)
Oil-rich Man City are clear favourites in this home encounter but will still have to make sure they do a professional job against Championship league leaders FC Halifax.

Manchester United is just one of the fourteen teams that potentially await FC Halifax in the Sixth Round should they get through. FC Halifax have been performing well beyond expectations once again in the FA Cup this season.

Man City beat Stockport County and Brighton and Hove Albion whilst FC Halifax beat Fleetwood Town and Millwall to get this far.

The referee for the match will be Lee Probert from Gloucester who has shown six yellow cards and one red card in his three FA Cup games so far this season.

An imposing crowd awaited the travelling Shaymen at the Etihad but the relatively inexperienced side have fast got a taste for the big games that football can offer. It was to be another dazzling display of football from both sides.

From the start Manchester City made it obvious that they wanted to put the lower league upstarts back in their place and Holmes made it clearer with a goal in the first minute. Not the start that Halifax had hoped for but as usual it only served to put fire in the bellies of the players and only minutes later Apostolos Vellios levelled the scores with a great finish.

This set the scene for the rest of the match, a real to-and-fro affair with both sides having many chances on goal. A stunned Manchester crowd watched in near silence as James Wallace converted a superb free-kick midway through the first half, the jeers of the travelling Halifax fans didn't last long however as an immediate attack from the kick-off gained Man City a corner which was finished with a typically professional header by Vincent Kompany. As half time approached a wariness settled upon both sides.

As the second half started the more cautious period of play continued as both sides feared a counter attack. However, the more professional premiership side would be the first to take advantage of a poor pass and poured men forward to capitalise on the mistake. However the finish wasn't good enough and Forster was able to get the ball back up the field in time to facilitate a Halifax counter attack. Recent loan signing Andros Townsend proved to be equal to the task as he drifted in from the left and punched the ball low and to the left of a scrambling Joe Hart.

Once again Halfiax have humbled top flight oppostition on their relentless march towards another cup final.

With heavy cup commitments this month Halifax would face only three league opposition, all of them relatively local which would help with the travel weary Halifax players recovery, it seemed that for once the fixture list was smiling on the Shaymen.

First up was Wigan Athletic. If the fixture list favoured Halifax the referee certainly did not. Just eleven minutes into the match young defender Blaine Smith received his second yellow for a late tackle and as he headed back to the dressing room it seemed as if the match was a lost cause already.

However, a magnificent performance from the rest of the team meant that Wigan couldn't capitalise on their superior numbers and only minutes later a dangerously curling corner from West was put into the back of the Wigan net by their own player, Stam. The unexpected lead seemed to give the Shaymen real hope for the match and only five minutes later Fabio Nunes, drifting in from the left wing, danced around the Wigan defence and placed the ball in the back of the net. As if it wasn't looking embarrassing enough for home side it would only get worse when Michael West scored Halifax's third just before half time, however a superb effort from Marveaux gave Wigan some hope in the final minute of the half.

As the second half kicked off Wigan looked to be desperate to bring the score back in their favour, using their extra man to gain every advantage they could. FC Halifax, however, defended with real skill and kept the ball out of the danger zones. As the 75th minute came around the Wigan fans were already starting to head for the exits, ever more so as Victor Anichebe put the visitors 4-1 up in the 77th minute. The rout would be complete five minutes later when Gerry Mullen headed home the final nail in the coffin.

A simply superb effort from a 10 man Halifax side.

In the final two matches of the month, Halifax faced Barnsley at home and an imposing away fixture at Huddersfield.

An early goal from Lopes set the scene for the Barnsley match, and while the visitors would get a goal not long after it would not be anywhere near enough. A goal from Adam Webster and another from Lopes just before half time confirmed the result with 45 minutes still to play.

Huddersfield would prove to be a bigger challenge. As both sides seemed wary of the other it would also prove to be one of the more dull matches of the season. With no goals and hardly a highlight to show for the effort both sides had to settle for a point.
I cant believe you actually beat Man City........congratulations man!!! Great Story.....Great Update.....You got a follower
