NOVEMBER MONTHLY REPORT

A greatly disappointing month! This is the correct definition of November for Real Oviedo. This is not due to the results in Liga Adelante, but the one that arrived few days ago in Copa del Rey: despite the stunning performance of the players, a goal of Edison Flores at the 58’ minute of the match against Villareal scratched Los Carbayones from the Spanish Cup. At the end of the match, Gagliardo’s words were:
“I am really sad, not for me, but for these guys that played wonderfully in the two legs against a first division team like Villarreal. I am not sad for having been scratched out of the competition, we are a second division team and having been arrived to the 4th round is a great result, but because we deserved to qualify for the next round for what we did on the pitch! We have been unlucky and we paid a our dues for the distraction that gave Villarreal that goal in the first leg…”

Interviewed by Telecinco television, Villarreal’s manager Julio Velazquez said:
“I am really happy for our result, but I have to give my compliments to Real Oviedo’s players and their manager, Stefano Gagliardo, because they played wonderfully! They showed they can face a first division team without any fear and they could even have won: fate has been on our side, but they are really great!”

Looking at Liga Adelante, Oviedo played only three matches because of the delay of the one against Lugo (for no understandable reasons): 2 wins and 1 loss was the score of Los Carbayones.

Oviedo ended the month at the 6th place in the league with two matches still to play (the one against Lugo and the one that is going to be played this evening in Cordoba).

Man of the month for Oviedo’s fans has been elected another time the Captain, Diego Cervero, awarded for his 4 goals, 3 of which scored in the first match of the month in Alaves.

Diego Cervero (29), man of the month of November 2013.

In December Oviedo will face 4 matches: the one of this evening against Cordoba, the catch up of the one delayed against Lugo, the one against Numancia and, finally, the one against the rivals of Racing Santander, really heart-felt by Oviedo’s supporters.

DECEMBER MONTHLY REPORT

“I am delighted! Today’s large victory against Cagliari is the perfect end to this fantastic month! We managed to defeat Juventus and Inter, our greatest rivals, and we are largely on the top of the league! A really nice Christmas gift for us and our supporters!” These were Gagliardo’s words after the last match of December against Cagliari. An enthusiastic Gagliardo, perfectly justified by the results of the month in the league. All started from the match against Juve: a double by Falcao smashed Bianconeri for the happiness of the fans. After the bad defeat against Real Sociedad in the last match of UCL Group F (when Giampaolo Pazzini scored the fastest goal in UCL history after 16 seconds), justified by the large rotation set up by Rossoneri’s manager, Milan destroyed Inter in the derby with a 3-0 signed by the three attackers: Falcao - El Shaarawy - Jovetic. This match has also been the last one of Nerazzurri’s manager, Huub Stevens, that has been sacked by his boss after the bad defeat in a so important match.

Finally, yesterday came the large 4-0 victory against Cagliari, with a hat-trick by the usual Falcao, who also missed a penalty.

Rossoneri ended the month keeping the 1st place in the league, with a 15 points lead on the surprising Parma, which is playing a wonderful season so far..

Another time, the prize for the best player of the month can go to no one else than Falcao: the Colombian striker played 3 matches scoring 6 goals, 5 of which were crucial for the victories against Juve and Inter. Till now, Falcao’s standings say 21 goals and 4 assists in 17 matches! These great stats let him be in the Golden Ball 2013 list for the best player in Europe.

Staying on the pitch, few days ago, the 20th, the drawings for the UCL last 16 round have taken place and associated Milan with the Dutch team PSV Eindhoven. Gagliardo commented: “PSV is a good side. We have been lucky in some sense because the draw could have been worse, but on the other hand we have to pay great attention to them.”.

Going a little bit outside that, two historical Milan’s veterans such as Cristian Abbiati and Massimo Ambrosini decided that this is going to be their last season in the world of football: both are going to retire at the end of the season and we know that that day will be a sad day for Rossoneri’s fans.

DECEMBER MONTHLY REPORT

Real Oviedo is going on surprising everyone in Spanish football! An almost perfect December month, with 3 victories and 1 draw in the 4 matches played, ended this wonderful 2013 for Los Carbayones, started with the promotion form the third to the second Spanish division and continued with the outstanding performances in the latter! The home draw against Numancia didn’t ruined a month in which Oviedo could defeat, in this order, Cordoba, Lugo and finally the hatred Racing Santander, with the first and the third victories that came away from Nuevo Carlos Tartiere.

Gagliardo’s team finished 2013 with a really surprising 2nd place in the league, with 35 points in 18 matches, 7 less than Las Palmas which is dominating the league. Gagliardo commented on this result saying: “The only thing I pay attention to in this table is the number of points: we have made 35 important steps to avoid relegation, this is it! When we reach 45 quota, then I will speak about something different than relegation’s fight!”

Man of the month for Oviedo’s fans has been elected Issa Yameogo, who scored 6 goals in the 3 matches he walked on the pitch: the guy, who is going to turn 17 in few days, is growing up in a fantastic way under Gagliardo’s guide.

Interviewing the Managers Brothers
(by Gianluca Di Marzio)

A cold day in the winter holidays could not seem a good one for a walk in a sea-town as Vado Ligure, in Liguria, but it can become so if you have the opportunity to meet two guys that are on everyone’s mouths in these months: Andrea and Stefano Gagliardo, the “Managers Brothers” as they have been called by the press (Me (GDM), Andrea Gagliardo (AG), Stefano Gagliardo (SG)).

GDM - “Well, guys, you asked me to come for giving me some news… What are them?”
SG - “As we are friends since we started our careers, in accordance with the boards, we decided to give you, and so Sky, the designs of the new shirts that Milan and Oviedo are going to use from the beginning of next year!”
AG -“Always according to the boards, we reached in first person an agreement with two important brands. Then, we contacted a friend, Justice, who is a great designer of Football (Manager) team shirts and we gave him some advice about what we would like to want. Few days ago he replied with these drawings that we consider simply wonderful… And that we give you.”

They gave me some photos…

GDM - “They are great! And I am very glad you decided to give me these! May I ask you some other questions?”
SG - “Of course! This does not mean we are going to answer you...” (he laughs)

GDM - “Just one question for both of you: few words on the first part of the season and the market that is going to come... ”
SG - “First of all, we had a great season so far! We obtained 35 points that is largely more than we predicted to do! If they guys stay focused, avoiding relegation is matter of few matches. Dealing with the market, we have few money in the cash, but we planned the beginning of the season knowing that at this point some of the youth would have been ready for the first team: so, no transfers if no bargains come, but some new faces in the first team in the next matches.”
AG -“Well, also our season has been great so far! We have a large leading in Serie A and we obtained the qualification to the last 16 of UCL. About the market, we already bought Cristian Trasch from Wolfsburg, as you know, that is going to replace Zaccardo on the right back, who is going to leave our side. At this very time, we are not planning other moves, even if I have some ideas that I should discuss with the board…”

GDM - “Just a curiosity Andrea, that you can obviously not reply to… What about the following names: Leighton Baines and Mario Balotelli?”
AG - “Mmm… Baines is a really important player, and he is contracted to Everton, this is everything I can say. Balotelli, on the other hand, has a contract with us and has been an important player to the side.”

GDM - “Rumors tell you are not satisfied with his recent behavior…”
AG - “Mario is impulsive, he criticized me for one or two match talks and even be absent to a training session, as you know, but he admitted his faults.”

GDM - “Mmm… Ok… The last question to Stefano… A word: promotion…”
SG - “I answer you with another word: relegation. Our objective still remains to avoid it, if you look at the last season we had a large shape drop in the second part of the season and we have to pay attention not to goof again! As I already said, after reaching 45 points we can start to speak about something else…”

This put an end to my interview, I thanked the two guys for all the news they gave me and greeted them and their wives before leaving… With many important news!
Sitting in 2nd in Liga Adelente is great work there and AC are flying not losing any yet! Keep up the great work and nice interview there. The kits look absolutely amazing, especially AC Milan one

The kits are great: Justice did a great job! :) What I'm doing with Oviedo is surprising me, but I'm afraid of the second part of the season... Milan is flying high thanks to Radamel: I spent 54M, but he deserves them! ;) Thanks for commenting mate! :)

P.S. Your 100th thanks is mine! ;)

Cervero will fire Oviedo like Falcao is doing at Milan. Don't you worry about it

Some awesome kits by Justice as usual! Good luck with the rest of the story!

Serie A (and not only) Awards

The new year has just begun and, as usual, awards have been assigned all over the world, and in particular in Serie A.

Let us start from our home country. Serie A officially assigned the Manager of the Year to A.C. Milan’s manager Andrea Gagliardo: his fantastic results during 2013, with the double Serie A-Coppa Italia and the 1st position at the end of the year deserved the prize. Gagliardo commented: “I am honored of having received this award! I want to dedicate this prize to Milan’s board and to my players for what they have given to me: a part of this prize is theirs. And I want to than my family, because it’s also their merit if I am here today!” Catania’s manager, Rolando Maran, commented on Gagliardo’s victory saying “Andrea deserved this award. When he arrived in the world of football management no one was believing he could win something: he surprised everyone and showed he is a great manager!”

The Player of the Year and the Foreign Player of the Year awards went both to the same player, again in A.C. Milan’s house: six months have been enough to Radamel Falcao to be given these prizes.

The Italian Player of the Year award went to a Juventus player, Leonardo Bonucci, who has also been elected Defender of the Year

Also the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year award went to a Milan’s player, Fraser Forster, who publically thanked Gagliardo as the key reason for him to obtain the prize.

Approaching a larger scale, the European Golden Boy of the Year was still assigned to a Serie A player, Ishak Belfodil, for his great performances with Parma.

Finally, the rumors about the winner of the World Golden Ball came to be true, with Cristiano Ronaldo winning the prize, as well as the FIFA World Player of the Year one. The main news was that the four-times Golden Ball winner, Lionel Messi, was not even on the podium.

Andrea is dominating the awards! :P

A.C. Milan’s First Moves on the Market

The very first days of the market have been intense for the A.C. Milan board, and in particular for the Manager, Andrea Gagliardo.

The 2nd day of the year, Christian Trasch arrived at Milanello to join his new mates for his first training session.

The former Wolfsburg player has been joined by Amedeo La Rosa: the 17 yo goalkeeper arrived from Ternana in a 475K€ deal and in Gagliardo’s mind is going to be the future of the side’s goal.

In the meantime, together with his staff Gagliardo worked on some players that will be free in June due to the end of their contracts. As confirmed by the side’s director of football, Ariedo Braida, four players have already signed a contract with Rossoneri for the next season: the 21 yo Italian goalie Mattia Perin (from Genoa), who is going to replace Christian Abbiati that has already announced his sight on retirement, the 23 yo Brazilian (with Portuguese passport) full back Fabio (from Man Utd), and finally the talented 23 yo Ukrainian center midfielder Denys Garmash (from Dynamo Kyiv).

From left to right: Fabio, Denys Garmash and Mattia Perin, joining Milan in July.

During an interview with SkySport, the CEO of Milan, Adriano Galliani, also announced the arrival of two other players for the future: “Our scouts have found two young talented Brazilian players during their trips in South America: Renan and Renatinho are their names. Both are 15 now, so they are going to join us in 2016.”

The last news concerns the rumors about a possible Rossoneri’s offer for Javier Mascherano: Gagliardo himself denied them, saying that Milan has no interests in buying the Barcelona’s player.
Javier Mascherano! :O You should go for him mate!

Perrin, Fabio and Garmash are interesting signings. I've used all three, but very briefly, like for only 1-2 seasons. Fabio is okay, Garmash is absolutely awesome, and Perrin is shit :/ I hope they all do well for you though!

Mascherano is too old for me mate! And I have de Jong and Gonalons that are doing well in that position... ;)
Perin will be my backup goalie for 1-2 seasons, waiting for La Rosa to grow (and for free can become a good signing), while Fabio is good because can play on both sides and can replace Antonini (that I hate)! :) Garmash will be in the starting line up next season I think: he seems to be great!

Finally... thanks for commenting Glenn! :)
