ITALY SQUAD ANNOUNCED FOR WCQ

Giuseppe Bergomi has announced his squad to take on France and Andorra in qualifying matches for the World Cup in 2018 in Russia. The Italians have gotten off to a strong start so far, winning their first 2 games against Latvia and Slovakia.

The big miss is Inter Milan superstar Mattia Destro due to injury. The last two Serie A seasons' top scorer will be a big blow to Italy's chances as he has already scored 13 goals in his 18 caps for the senior side. Fabio Borini is also out with a long term injury, so Mario Balotelli should lead the line for the Italians.

On the other side of the coin, ex-Inter man and now Ajax shotstopper Francesco Bardi as well as Nerazzurri midfielder Lorenzo Crisetig have received their first ever call-ups to the senior side. Combined the two have 20 U21 caps and will hope to feature at some time during the break.

The side will first travel to France before hosting Andorra. The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers
Salvatore Sirigu (PSG)
Francesco Bardi (Ajax)
Emiliano Viviano (Juventus)

Defenders
Andrea Ranocchia (Inter)
Giuseppe Bellusci (Inter)
Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus)
Guilherme Siqueira (Granada)
Domenico Criscito (Zenit)
Mattia De Sciglio (AC Milan)
Ignazio Abate (AC Milan)
Davide Astori (Juventus)

Midfielders
Andrea Poli (Inter)
Lorenzo Crisetig (Inter)
Daniele De Rossi (Roma)
Claudio Marchisio (Juventus)
Giacomo Bonaventura (Napoli)
Alessandro Florenzi (Udinese)
Sebastian Giovinco (Juventus)

Forwards
Lorenzo Insigne (Inter)
Mario Balotelli (Real Madrid)
Giuseppe Rossi (Villareal)
Alberto Paloschi (Parma)
Pablo Osvaldo (Roma)
Don't know much about Italian Football but that looks like a damn good squad.

REVIEW

I was hoping we could nick a win at the Stade de France but it wasn't to be, despite a reasonably strong performance against a very good French side. Hosting Andorra was a simple affair, and both Francesco Bardi and Lorenzo Crisetig were given their senior debuts. Pablo Osvaldo and Giuseppe Rossi were started up top, and looked threatening, though against Andorra that's not saying too much. The most important thing is we are still top of the table.
ah, damn! unlucky vs France, i'd of thought you could of won that:P still, a point to take from it. And Andorra only let in 3? wow!
Mario Balotelli in real Madrid ?
AaronHJFT96: Yes me too, but a draw is a good result. Yes, Andorra only let up 3, but I was playing quite a few backups ;)

Northwoood: Yeah I believe they bought him two seasons ago from City. He has a pretty good goal scoring record there, so hopefully he can carry that to the international scene.
Fair enough! Will you finish up at the 2018 World Cup or will you look to bring the next generation of players in to Italy?
AaronHJFT96: The story itself will stop at the 2018 World Cup, but I will probably continue playing this save. It's just too much fun :P

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Ademilson yet again with no less than 9 goals in those 8 matches, taking his tally to 14 on the season in all competitions.

REVIEW

What a month! Filled with 4-0 wins, we were an absolute goal-scoring machine! Ademilson scored 9 goals, which is quite incredible, and may just have the number 1 spot up top right now. However, Mattia Destro managed a hattrick on his first start since returning from injury, looking promising. Our attack is firing on all cylinders, and I love it.
DESTROOO IS BAAACK! :D
Jesus, Ademilson is brutal. How long has Destro been out?
