
ITALY SQUAD ANNOUNCED FOR QUALIFIERS

If there's one thing to be said about FIFA's scheduling system on the international stage, there is no doubt that that thing is that it often makes no sense. Just a week ago, there was an international friendly break, and now there is another, this time with crucial World Cup Qualifiers.
The Italian national team sits pretty atop their group and will now play their 7th and 8th matches against Slovakia and Andorra expecting big wins in both. Should other results go against Israel, the Azzurri, led by Giuseppe Bergomi, could qualify for Russia 2018 with a full two match to spare.
Bergomi has of course chosen a very strong squad for the fixtures despite the gulf in class, and he will hope for strong performances from stars Mattia Destro and Andrea Poli as well as Leverkusen star and Italy captain Daniele De Rossi. The full squad is as follows:
