Bidding farewell to a stalwart of Internazionale. All I can ever remember of him is in black and blue. And credit to him for converting the more buccaneering and adventurous side of his flank-attacking game to a studious and experienced defender-cum-defensive midfielder. Will be sorely missed! Deserves a good sending off, and a very happy retirement! :)
Bye Bye oh great Zanetti!! :D MR BLACK & BLUE!!!

International Break

Squad Selection

I selected a reasonably strong squad for our two matches this international break against Serbia in a friendly and against Estonia in European Championship Qualifying. Daniel Agger, Anders Lindegaard, and Nicolai Jorgensen all miss out due to making very, very few appearances if any for their club squad. Nicklas Bendtner misses out through injury, as does Simon Kjaer, though only after the first match. Goalkeeper Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard and young striker Ove Kjeldgaard are in line for their first caps.

Denmark 3-3 Serbia

Friendly
Starting XI (4-2-3-1)
Schmeichel; Wass, Kjaer, Bjelland, Juelsgard; Poulsen, Kvist (c); Anderson, Eriksen, Fischer; Helenius

Substitutions
Ellegaard, Shviatchenko, Nielsen, Kadrii, Cornelius, Kjeldgaard
Schmeichel, Kjaer, Poulsen, Anderson, Fischer, Helenius

Match
Poulsen (27)
Kvist (30)
Djordjevic (45)
Kuzmanovic (64)
Kadrii (67)
Scepovic (90+1)

Man of the Match

I'm very disappointed with our performance, but, to be fair, we tried out a new formation in this match. We switched from our narrow 4-3-2-1 to a more attacking 4-2-3-1 formation with wing players. We should've won the game, but debutant goalkeeper Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard made a shocking error in injury time and cost us the game. I can promise you, that'll be his last cap for Denmark.

Estonia 0-3 Denmark

European Championship Qualifying: Group D
Starting XI (4-2-3-1)
Schmiechel; Wass, Jorgensen, Bjelland, Juelsgard; Poulsen, Kvist (c); Anderson, Eriksen, Kadrii; Helenius

Substitutions
Zimling, Nielsen, Fischer
Poulsen, Kvist, Kadrii

Match
Helenius (21, 50)
Bjelland (34)

Man of the Match
Helenius

Review
This was an outstanding win for us, Nicklas Helenius particularly impressed me with his 2 goal performance. What I've learned about this new formation is that it lessens Christian Eriksen's effectiveness, and the wingers are not as effective as I had anticipated. I think I will give my young star more attacking ability and let my wingers play more of a supporting role.

Denmark Qualifies

With a full 3 games to spare out of 8 total, we have already qualified! It's absolutely brilliant to qualify so early, having won all 5 of our games. We are a full 8 points ahead of Estonia. If we keep this form up, the Euro Cup will be on it's knees before us.
Looks like Zanetti retired on a high :D Great job with Denmark too.

Unfortunate result against Serbia, but great form against Estonia and congratulations for qualifying!

Glenn T: Cheers mate, couldn't have anything less for the captain :)

ebEliminator: Thanks eb, I'm quite happy to qualify with such ease :D
Easy group but 5 wins out of 5 is still a good achievement!

Euros here we come
With a qualifying group like that even real life Denmark might have a chance to qualify.

Good luck in the Championship-
k1rups: Yes a simple group but I'm happy we showed up and performed well :)

KingPadster: Denmark to take the Euros by storm! :P

Northwood: Cheers, and if they keep up playing like they did against Armenia even this group would be tough going for them IRL xD

Inter Milan Awards Night

At the annual end-of-season dinner last night Inter Milan announced all of it's club awards winners. All players, staff members, and honorary fans were in attendance.

Golden Boot

Mattia Destro won our club Golden Boot, scoring 42 goals in all competitions, 29 of which were in Serie A. Nobody else on the team came even close to Mattia's haul, and the young Italian starlet took home the Golden Boot award.

Fans' Player of the Season

Andrea Ranocchia was voted the Fans' Player of the Season on an online poll on the club's official website. The central defender finished the season with a massive 7.99 average rating and was a rock at the heart of Inter's stalwart defense, assisting Handanovic and Vid Belec to keep clean sheets.

Inter Milan Best Eleven

Gino Peruzzi and Yann M'Vila are the newcomers to our Team of the Season. Both had outstanding seasons and took complete control of their starting position and thoroughly deserved their spots among our elite.
Who gives out these awards? He should be sued for Belec not being in the Best Eleven! :P

Looks like Mattia Destro is doing really well for you!
