2013-05-07 11:39#98416 IamonlyoneGuy : Good luck with this. Kudos looks really good for a lower league player.

Cheers pal, I hope he does come good.

Oh wait.

He's just as good..if not better ;)

Well I’m not going to lie, this transfer window was a missive struggle. I had no idea who to sign, I had never heard of any of the players and I had a measly £500 to spend on wages.

Out of the ten players I signed only three of them made me think 'wow, these lads have real quality and could really add to my squad.’ The others I'm afraid are here to make up the numbers of my paper think squad and to add some much needed depth.

The three players mentioned above are:

Vincent Pericard

I have heard of Vincent before and when I heard he was available on a free transfer and willing to drop down to this level of football I made it our number one priority to sign him. He's played for many clubs in England, including Portsmouth, Sheffield Utd, Plymouth, Stoke, Southampton, Millwall, Carlisle and Swindon. In a way he is our marquee signing and I hope the fans are as excited and enthusiastic about him joining us as I am.

Billy Tsovolos

In Billy I see bags of potential as well as someone who is more the capable of playing at this level already. At the tender age of 19 he is already a first choice player in the Australia Under 21's squad and you never know, one day he could get his big break and make it professional, he’s more than capable.

Doug Bergqvist

There where a whole host of clubs after Doug, but thankfully he chose us (I must be doing something right!). Like Billy, Doug is only a young lad but more than capable at this level. He's going to learn a lot on his season long loan here at Hayes & Yeading and I’ve already got him paired up with the experienced Pele, who I think will make a fantastic tutor for him.

Both Calum Butcher and Luke Williams left us on a free transfer this window, to Wrexham and Dagenham & Redbridge respectively. I'm not going to lie, I'm gutted they left us because they would have easily slotted into my first team, but a club in our position can't afford to keep a hold of our top players and we needed to lose some money from the wage budget, and to be fair to the lads, they are both now playing regular football at higher levels, so I suppose everybody is happy in the end.
Don't get too many people, the more people you sign the more it upsets the squad's harmony.

Cheers for the advice Toon. My squad at the moment has 23 players in it, which is probably a few more than i'd like.

At the time of taking over Hayes & Yeading they had already played two of their friendlies - a fantastic 2-1 victory over League 1 Brentford and a 1-0 victory over minnows Aveley.

My first game in charge was against Yeovil, and although we dominated the majority of the game in the end we lost 1-2. The final pre-season game so us come up against Slough, and it gave me the chance to try new signing Vincent Pericard, who scored two of our three goals.

That's pre-season done and dusted, next up is my league debut, and I couldn't be more nervous, our first game sees us visit one of the promotion favourites Weston-super-Mare.
Good results. Yeovil was always going to be a big challenge.

It was a tricky game but in the end their class in front of goal made the difference, we waste to many easy chances, hope it's just pre-season tho and the players shaking off their summer holidays.

--------------------

Well my first month in football management, and it was in truth pretty terrible. In our two away games we looked hopeless and probably should have beaten by a much higher margin. Our two home games we showed more positive signs and we earned a well-fought draw against promotion favourites Boreham Wood. I was slightly disappointed not to come away with three points against Billericay, they where very poor and there for the taking but we failed to capitalize on our chances.

The only real positive to come out of August was young Kudos Oyenuga, he’s started the season in decent form and he’s the only reason why we have any points at all. If the team can pick up their performance I’m sure we can get ourselves out of this early mess. We just need that one win to get us going and hopefully it will come early next month.
Not the best results mate, but you can improve.

Very true, but the manager is always the first to go when the team is doing bad. :(
Not the start you would be hoping for but it takes time for the players to settle and get used to the tactics etc...i have faith you'll turn this around

Cheers pal, I must admit I'm not liking Hayes & Yeading much. :P If another club came in for me I would really have to consider, but I suppose I'd have to do well with Hayes & Yeading first to get other clubs to notice me!
