September 2012 Results Part 1
As September is quite a busy month, with a lot of games to play, many which are tough for the team, September Results will be split into two parts. With 6 games to play, including a Capital One Cup fixture, a Champions League fixture, a rival game vs Chelsea and two games against Moyes old club Everton, this month would be a toughie for the Devils.
Manchester United 1-0 Sunderland
Saturday 1st September 2012 - Barclays Premier League - Old Trafford - Att. 75,190
United Starting XI - De Gea, Buttner, Smalling, Vidic, Rafael, Cleverley, Fellaini, Powell, Kagawa, Giggs, van Persie
SUBS - Adan, Ferdinand, Evans, Carrick, Scholes, Welbeck, Hernandez
SUBS - Carrick, Welbeck, Hernandez
GOALS - van Persie (57)
INJURED - van Persie (Twisted ankle, 3 weeks)
MOTM - John O'Shea
Three points, but really we should have won by more. However, the main concern for the next few weeks will be the attackers now. We have tough games coming up, and we will be without Lewandowski, van Persie and Rooney, our three biggest attacking options. This could be an issue, so the run of low scoring games could continue for the rest of the month.
Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United
Saturday 15th September 2012 - Barclays Premier League - Stamford Bridge - Att. 41,798
United Starting XI - Lindegaard, Buttner, Vidic, Ferdinand, Rafael, Kagawa, Cleverley, Carrick, Giggs, Fellaini, Hernandez
SUBS - De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Powell, Scholes, Fierro, Lewandowski
SUBS - Powell, Scholes, Lewandowski
GOALS - None
INJURED - Giggs (Bruised Ribs, 4 days)
MOTM - Nemanja Vidic
Playing away to Chelsea with limited options, while giving Lindegaard a run about, and keeping a clean sheet, while getting a point isn't too bad at all. A win would be nice, but a point away is key, while missing the likes of Robin and Wayne, with Robert only managing to play 10 minutes or so. Hopefully, we can pick up the 3 points at home to Chelsea later on in the season too.
Manchester United 0-1 Galatasary
Tuesday 18th September 2012 - UEFA Champions League Grp C - Old Trafford - Att. 75,765
United Starting XI - Lindegaard, Buttner, Vidic, Evans, Smalling, Scholes, Powell, Cleverley, Rooney, Welbeck, Fierro
SUBS - De Gea, Ferdinand, Carrick, Kagawa, Hernandez, Lewandowski
SUBS - Jones, Carrick, Lewandowski
GOALS - None
INJURED - Cleverley (Bruised Ribs, 5-6 days) Powell (Broken Leg, 5-6 months)
MOTM - Didier Drogba
This result was not acceptable! We played a weaker side to rest players due to fixture congestion, but still, we should have managed at least a draw. Two games without scoring isn't good, something needs to change here. And to top it off, Powell, who I had high hopes for, it out for most the season now with a broken leg. Then Didier Drogba comes back to haunt us with a goal. David Moyes is not a happy manager!
League Table
Okay, so we're third. The campaign hasn't started badly, and picking up a point at Chelsea was pretty good, but we need to score more. With the likes of Lewandowski, Rooney, van Persie, Hernandez, Welbeck and Fierro I can't understand how they can't score. We need improvements up the field somehow.
Player of the Month
Nemanja Vidic. Good ol' Vidic shows why he is the captain. He pulls through the tough games by still having a solid performance, topping off an excellent pre-season. Against Sunderland he helped keep a clean sheet and was voted as the best United Player. Then against Chelsea, he helped keep another clean sheet and became Man of the Match. Finally against Galatasary, he once again became joint best United player, alongside Michael Carrick.
