December 2012 Update

Matches

12.1.2012

Harrogate 3 @ Boston United 3

We really should have won this won, our defense let them off the hook.

12.8.2012

Boston United 2 @ Vauxhall 0

Originally, Boston was supposed to play Droylsden on the 12th, but this happened:

You had ONE JOB, groundskeeper!

12.15.2012 – FA Carlsberg Trophy Second Round

Boston United 0 @ Chester 1

We outscored Chester 1-0, too bad it was an own goal. Just my luck.

12.22.2012

Droylsden 2 @ Boston United 2

12.26.2012

Corby 0 @ Boston United 2

Another waterlogged pitch issue postpones the Oxford City match to January 9.

Injuries:

Pretty serious injury obviously, and he's a very versatile player, being able to be used as a mid or striker. I've got plenty of capable mids though, and Emerick Hippias will emerge as the third striker, he wanted more playing time anyway.

He is the most injury prone dude ever. This is like his fourth injury this season.

Transfers

He came really cheap and I needed a rotation left back who wasn't Paul Mayo.

12.27.2012 – Tom Ward demanded first team play, but he wasn't in my plans. We mutually agreed to release him.

Standings

Still stuck in 9th place, which is unacceptable to me. We need to find a higher gear.

January 2013 Update

Matches

1.1.2013

Boston United 1 @ Corby 0

It was a win, but we really should have scored more goals.

1.5.2013

Boston United 2 @ Workington 2

1.8.2013

Oxford City 1 @ Boston United 0

Manager Shylo Elliott was fined 110 pounds for criticizing the referee's decision to disallow a goal that would have drawn the game during the post-match press conference.

1.12.2013

Colwyn Bay 1 @ Boston United 1

1.16.2013

Boston United 0 @ Altrincham 2

1.19.2013

Boston United 2 @ Harrogate 1

George Amodu set the record for youngest Boston United player to ever play in a senior match at 16 years and 163 days.

1.26.2013

Gloucester @ Boston United

POSTPONED DUE TO WATERLOGGED PITCH

Injuries:

1.23.2013 – Paul Lister out 3 to 4 weeks with gashed leg suffered in training.

Transfers

1.1.2013 – Ben Milnes extends his contract until the end of the 2014 season
1.18.2013 – Goalkeeper Tom Halsall signed with Boston United
1.19.2013 – Goalkeeper Ricky Drury released from his appearance deal.
1.28.2013 – Center back Luke Olley signs for 5,250 pounds/year. Doesn't seem to have as high of a ceiling as advertised, though.

Signed to a youth contract.

Standings

Starting to creep up the rankings, but we still need to tie some wins together.

February 2013 Update

Matches

2.02.2013

Boston United 0 @ Gainsborough 0

We should have won this game. Weir-Daley had some sitters he just pulled too high. Really, unfortunate.

2.05.2013

Gloucester 0 @ Boston United 0

Another 0-0 draw. Thankfully we have a great goalkeeper to mitigate the inexperienced centerbacks we deployed for this game. I'm going to have to tinker around with the offense though.

2.09.2013

Boston United 2 @ Guiseley 0

Finally! Some goals, and a win! Hippias gets the credit for the goals, but in truth it was excellent team play. For this game I tested out 4-3-3 formation.

Mirko Ranieri is on a 310 minute clean streak according to the post-match presser. Now that that's been said it's probably jinxed. Oh well.

2.16.2013

Stalybridge 2 @ Boston United 0

2.23.2013

Boston United 1 @ Solihull Moors 0

2.26.2013

Altrincham 3 @ Boston United 1

Injuries:

2.9.2013 – Spencer Weir-Daley suffered a twisted ankle against Guiseley and will be out 5-6 weeks.
2.24.2013 – Deale Chamberlain suffered a back strain while lifting weights and will be out 5-6 weeks.
2.26.2013 – Conor Marshall suffered a twisted knee against Altrincham and will be out 4-5 weeks.
2.26.2013 – Ben Milnes suffered strained knee ligaments against Altrincham and will be out 2-3 months.

March 2013 Update

Matches

3.2.2013

Vauxhall 0 @ Boston United 1

3.9.2013

Boston United 1 @ Brackley 0

A shock win against the second place side! Even more so considering they were beating on our door, but they just couldn't quite get in.

3.16.2013

Boston United 0 @ Worcester 1

3.23.2013

Bradford PA 2 @ Boston United 1

This was a weird game, the highlights made it seem like Bradford was dominating but we had the run of play.

3.30.2013

Boston United 2 @ Hinckley 1

Hinckley's loss ensures their relegation.

Injuries:

3.16.2013 – James Reed suffered a thigh strain and will be out 4-5 weeks.
3.18.2013 – Spencer Weir-Daley suffered a thigh strain and will be out 4-5 weeks.

Transfers

Marc Newsham has signed a 1 year extension to his contract and will be on for us next season.
Keiran Walker given mutual release since he wanted first team football and he is not good.
Center back Roy Main signed from the youth candidates. Center back is one of my biggest weaknesses so I have a great need for him, plus he has great potential!

Striker Ethian Mannon has signed a two year extension, and a raise in wages to 8,750 pounds/year

Standings

Covering a 10 point deficit with 15 points left to attain in the season isn't realistic, but there is no reason we shouldn't be in the promotion playoffs.

April 2013 Update

Matches

4.1.2013

Bishop's Stortford 2 @ Boston United 2

This is really not the way to start the final push.

4.6.2013

Boston United 1@ Chester 1

4.13.2013

FC Halifax 1 @ Boston United 1

4.20.2013

Boston United 0 @ Histon 2

Promotion chances officially dashed.

4.27.2013

Brackley 1 @ Boston United 2

The challenge for me next season will be increasing the amount of goals while keeping our solid defense and goal efforts.
End of Season Trivia:
1. Goalkeeper Mirko Ranieri made all 42 appearances in the BSN this season, the only Boston United player to do so.
2. Top goalscorers: Ethan Mannion and Spencer Weir-Daley had 12 goals each, and Emerick Hippias had 11.
3. Ethan Mannion was also the assist leader, getting 11 on the season.
4. Phil Watt had a 7.27 average rating, while Paul Lister had a 7.19 average rating.
5. Ben Milnes led the team with 7 yellow cards. He also had 1 red.
6. Spencer Weir-Daley led the team with 3 man of the match awards.
So, I was going to do an Offseason Update before friendlies but my contract with Boston United was not renewed, so I will be applying for jobs. I even went to the board and appealed for a new contract but they absolutely refused to give it. I'd like to stay in England, but I'm open to any of the major countries.

Elliott Becomes Manager of Kettering Town

Shylo Elliott, formerly of Boston United, was announced as the new manager of recently-promoted side Kettering Town, who will be competing in Blue Square Bet North this season. The contract is rumored to be a 1 year contract worth 37,500 pounds. Elliott was pleased to have gotten back in the managerial ranks so quickly, and in the same league as his old team.
Good luck at your new club :D
