“Two nil down, four two up. Igor Biscan wrapped it up, and he didn’t know what to do when he scored the goal, Igor Biscan’s our hero” Eeeegor!!! ……

The End of A Turbulent Season

We caught up with new boss Igor Biscan and he told us about his 6 months with ‘The Dragons’

Igor ” The team when I took over lacked confidence and morale but in the first day we all went for a team bonding session on the lake, kayaking, canoeing and wind surfing, it was all a good laugh and we’ve been doing it every Wednesday since, Wes Daly is the best at it though while Robbie Rice was the worst partially because he could not swim.”

“ The lads have been fantastic considering when I took over we were 19th and finished 8th climbing 11 places and we were only 5th points of a playoff spot and avoided relegation by a massive 16 points which is a massive achievement for this small club considering all the big clubs in Hampshire, the likes of Aldershot, Portsmouth and Southampton”

“Our loan signings really helped us this year especially Diego who scored 13 goals in 16 games and hopefully we can get him on loan again next year. All the players voted him as our player of the year the lad is a real talent and it was fantastic to give him some guidance, we are all having a barbeque around the chairman’s villa n Puerto Rico as a celebration and a bit of break before the pre-season.”

“ However there is some bad news the ground got vandalised pretty badly, all the windows were smashed and the stands were ripped up, the chairman cant afford to pay for it all so we will be ground sharing next year with Bashley FC which isn’t ideal but it is the only solution they’ve got a good set up and decent facilities.”

“Due to this the chairman has admitted I wont be getting much of a budget and some of the high earning players will be leaving such as Ashley Bayes, Stefan Brown, Nathan Campbell, Jordace Holder-Spooner (our young player of the year), Stuart lake, Robbie Rice, Delano Sam-Yorke Tim Sills and Nathan Smart , the club wishes them all the best in the future and hopefully they will play for us again. Unfortunatley this only leaves us with 10 players for next season so we will be looking at bringing some young faces into the team.”

“We tried to sign a promising Indonesian but we couldn’t get a work permit it was a shame he was a real talent in defence but we move one look for more players, but I am delighted to announce I will be staying for next season”

2013-05-29 21:41#106439 tbendis : I'd like to see you try to make it back to Liverpool eventually... I think it would be a good challenge, because, if you focus on that, it would be a story where your career goal is to make it from the bottom to be the manager of a certain club...

It would be a challenge :)
A good update there mate you have really improved over time and great work by Biscan to take the team that high! Maybe a promotion push next season?
A bit of a jump from Liverpool to Basingstoke, nevertheless keep it up. Great story!

A New Season dawns On Basingstoke

The Board have announced they expect Igor Biscan to stay clear of relegation and have given the Croatian 4K to spend with a wage bill of 4.1K per week however due to recent events the club will be releasing upto 9 players this summer to raise money for much needed work on the ground (see last update).

Biscan” Our targets are very reasonable as we do not know what is going to happen in the summer, hopefully we can sign some young players on low contracts and build from their, all I’m going to say is that this year will be harder than last year due to the fact we are losing many of the first team squad."

June- August: A great start and an International Star

Igor Biscan can officially call himself a bargain hunter, with ten players at the start of the season and 4/7 favourites with SkyBet to be relegated with the signing of 12 new players and 3 youth team players Biscan has turned Basingstoke into a play off contending team. His star buy Jamie Cureton although he is 37 has the power and goals to win the league for Biscan other signings include two young future stars of Scunthorpe to partner the old Englishman upfront. These included wins over Welling and Weston Super Mare with a draw against local rivals Havant and Waterlooville.

His new radical 4-3-3 with fast passing to feet and a good use of overlapping by the full backs has brought 7 points of 12 for Biscan’s men leaving them 8th in the league on goal difference 3 points behind leaders Bath City.

However Biscan has already been told that Matt Lockwood and Mark Tyler are retiring at the end of the season leaving him with fewer and fewer players causing the Croatian to scout at the Toulon Tournament and there he acquired four signings.
These were:
15 year old and 17 year old Portuguese brothers Jorge and Marco Nogueira
16 year old Elliot McCormick a quick and pacing tall winger from Hersham.

His biggest scalp yet is the signing of Sammarinese left back Lorenzo Rizzo who is only 15 and played in the recent friendly against Chile earning him his first cap and being the first ever Basingstoke player to earn a full international cap while at the club.

Biscan” Rizzo is a quality young player and is the best play in the San Marino team by a long way to have his skill and determination in the team is a real marquee signing and we can only hope we can hang onto him during his 5 year deal”

“Pre Season went very well this year beating Fylde 8-0 and Woking 3-1 gave us a lot of confidence, the team has great morale and they are all happy to stay at the club we need to make our adopted home ground a fortress and I challenge the players to get to the semi finals of the FA Trophy and the First Round of the FA Cup”
Good work getting an international in the squad! He's pretty young though mate but could work out very well for you!

FA Cup First Round here we come

Igor Biscan has led his Basingstoke troops to the first round proper after demolishing Hayes and Yeading of the Conference 5-0 thanks to a hat-trick by Jorge Nogueira the 15 year old Portuguese wonder kid who has been named the next “ Helder Postiga” by influencial players such as Eubesio and Luis Figo and will play away to fierce rivals AFC Hornchurch ensuring a non league team in the 2nd round of the cup

However the league form has suffered with Biscan’s men losing their last two games against struggling Bromley and Eastleigh 3-2 on both occasions but still sit 7th in the league with 4 wins 3 draws and 3 defeats.

Biscan” This is a great achievemnent for the club and I really fancy that we will be in the 2nd round of the cup our focus back to the league with games against Chelmsford and Dartford”
