Transfer Activity

The squad I was faced with was average. They seemed happy to sit on whatever money they were on a mid table finish. I announced in the press conference that I would release our main players and thats exactly what I did. They were earning far too much that they were worth and they all were ageing. I wanted to bring a youthful look to the side. I set out on finding a group of teenagers that I could merge into a team. Of coarse we will struggle early on, but within a few seasons we will have the chemistry, and wont have to spend big on other players. The youngsters will be thrown into the first team, It will be interesting to see how they develop.

After completing all my pre-season transfers, I decided it was time to sit down with the chairman and discuss a few things. He seems a nice guy and he wants the club to succeed just as much as I do. I stressed to him the importance of building a very young team, using the comparision of "The class of 92".

He seemed to buy it and he agreed to start putting plans in place to improve the clubs youth facilities. It's a step in the right direction, we were never going to be able to make signings unless they were for free, so producing your own is just as easy. If it will work or not, ask me that again in the next 10 years.

Before I knew it the season had swung around. My first ever game in management came up against CA Bastia. I didn't get any sleep the night before, I spent all my time working on what team I should put out and how to exploit their weaknesses. I fielded a very young team containing a few of the lads I signed. This could have went very well or disasterous, fortunately it was the former, A great 4-0 win!

We then followed that up with another win, this time away from home! I couldn't believe our young team was doing this, I was sure we would struggle, But I knew the next game would be a completely different ball game.

FC Metz were up next. They last played in Ligue 1 in 2008, and were favourites for the title this season. We conceded early and went on to lose 3-0. I told the lads not to worry as we never expected a result.

We bounced back well with a win against FC Rouen, which lifted the lads spirit a lot. It was short lived however as we ended the month with a disappointing defeat at the hands of SR Colmar.

The Media

I relaxed into my chair in my apartment and picked up the newspaper that was sprawled onto the coffee table. Typical, The headline on the front page was about PSG. I immediately flicked past it in anger, and again past the Ligue 2 section before finally finding the Championnat National section, a small page. I scanned through it trying to find if we had made the news.
"Will the youth system work? FC Metz blazzed past the kids of Paris FC" That was all that they had on us! Ok, I wont have a dramatic outburst, they would love that. Next months article better have more pages dedicated to us though!

League Table

Paris are 5th. 1 point off the playoffs
Some good results. Your writing is good mate! I will be following!
Positive start in the league. Some brutal losses though. Try and work on not conceding goals and you could have a fantastic season. Good luck!

@PaukerJ - Cheers mate! Always great to see more followers :D

@mattgullidge - Thanks! Young defence so they get bullied and lack concentration!

September

Septembers fixtures were certainly challenging. We first faced the daunting task of trying to stop league leaders Armiens SC Football. They had made such an impressive 100% start and with a victory against us, they would set a new league record. They showed their superior class and outplayed us in a 2-0 victory.

Two defeats on the trot and heads were beginning to drop. I spoke to a few players individually to try lift their spirits and it showed in the next few preformances. We were held to a 0-0 draw away at AS Cherbourg Football before finally winning 3-0 against FC Bourg-Peronnas.

3 days later we travelled to US Quevilly where we earned a hard fought 3-2 victory with a very late winner. We were now playing with confidence and for the first time this season I could afford to smile. We ended the month strongly with another win this time against USBCO. The game was televised and we put on a show to win 3-1.

The Media

Once again all Football France could talk about was PSG. This time about their Champions League adventure. As usual I didn't bother to read that or the Ligue 2 section and skipped right to the Championnat France section. The headline on the page focused on the record set by Armiens SC Football. I thought that was fair enough and scanned through looking for references about Paris FC. One Sentence. "Paris FC pick up form with 3 straight wins". It seems the media aren't too interested in our affairs.

Player of the month

Namaie Mendy was sensational this month. He was a rock at the heart of the defence and lead by example. He even managed to chip with with a few vital goals which earned us some much needed points.

Paris are 4th,3 points off the playoffs
Some fantastic signings mate, and some good results too. Good luck for the rest of the season, MR Riviere!
