About This Story

Hi guys. I know I start many stories but this one is different. Arsenal is my team and I want to succeed and make a great team. We have been left disappointed for many years due to lack of trophies and players leaving. I want to change that and I want to build a very successful team for the future and I intend to stick with this for a long time. I believe I can make a great story but all I need is your help and support and it will be.

The Club

Arsenal Football Club is an English Premier League football club based in Holloway, London. One of the most successful clubs in English football, it has won 13 First Division and Premier League titles and 10 FA Cups. Arsenal holds the record for the longest uninterrupted period in the English top flight and would be placed first in an aggregated league of the entire 20th century. It is the second side to complete an English top flight season unbeaten (in the 2003–04 season), and the only one to do so across 38 matches.

Arsenal was founded in 1886 in Woolwich and in 1893 became the first club from the south of England to join the Football League. In 1913, it moved north across the city to Arsenal Stadium in Highbury. In the 1930s the club won five League Championship titles and two FA Cups. After a lean period in the post-war years it won the League and FA Cup Double, in the 1970–71 season, and in the 1990s and first decade of the 21st century won two more Doubles and reached the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final. Arsenal has a long-standing rivalry with North London neighbours Tottenham Hotspur, with whom it contests the North London derby. Arsenal is the fourth most valuable association football club in the world as of 2013, valued at over $1.3 billion.

Arsenal Secure 3rd

Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League with a thrilling victory at the Hawthorns that owed much to a series of errors made by West Brom goalkeeper Marton Fulop.
The 3-2 victory means Arsene Wenger's side finish the season in third place.
Fulop was at fault as the Gunners took a fourth-minute lead through Yossi Benayoun but two quick goals briefly turned the game in West Brom's favour.

But Andre Santos and Laurent Koscielny scored for Arsenal, who held on to win.
The importance of this result cannot be underestimated. While Robin Van Persie was a peripheral figure for much of the match, negotiations with the Dutch striker may prove a good deal easier with Wenger able to offer the guarantee of Champions League football next season.
The final minutes of the match were frantic and hurried but Arsenal stood firm to end the season on a high.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "I'm proud of the season. The mental solidity, the unity and solidarity inside the club has been tested. We didn't show any weakness and kept united. In the end, we came back. It's a good lesson for everyone. I told everyone to keep doing what they are doing and in the end we got there".

"We were 17th in the league and in the first seven games we had lost four of them. When you have played seven games, there are 31 to go. It's very difficult to imagine you can finish third.
"The intention is to speak with [Van Persie] before he leaves for the Dutch camp (for Euro 2012). Champions League football makes it easier to attract good players and keep them."

Van Persie: I’m Leaving

Manchester United have agreed a £24m deal to sign Arsenal striker Robin van Persie on a four-year contract.

The 29-year-old will meet with United in the next 48 hours to discuss personal terms and have a medical. Arsenal captain Van Persie announced in July he would not extend his current deal, which expires in June 2013.

"Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement for the transfer of Robin Van Persie," the club said in a statement.
"The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course."

United will pay £22.5m, with a further £1.5m one-off bonus to follow if they win a Premier League or Champions League title in the next four years. It is understood Arsenal were willing to make Van Persie their highest paid player ever, but never actually offered him a new contract.

Wenger and Van Persie disagreed on their vision for the club, transfer activity and the team's performance in the 2011-12 campaign. No contract was discussed and Van Persie joined the Dutch squad on 17 May to begin their preparations for Euro 2012.

He announced he would not be extending his contract on 4 July and returned to training on 17 July, the same week he was the subject of bids from United, Manchester City and Juventus.
All three offers fell short of Arsenal's valuation - they were reluctant to enter formal negotiations until a bid exceeded £20m, and hoped to hold out for £25-30m.
United, City and Juventus increased their offers but, of the three, United were the only side Van Persie would consider joining.

Song off to Barca

Alex Song has completed his move to Barcelona from Arsenal.
The 24-year-old Cameroon international midfielder has signed a five-year contract at the Nou Camp after the clubs agreed a £15m deal. Song, whose contract will contain a release clause of 80m euros (£63m), passed a medical on Monday.

"I'm very happy to be here, this is the best team in the world. Playing at a club like Barca is something I wanted when I was young," he told Barca TV.
"I hope the team will continue to win, this is a winning team. They win everything."

"It's always frustrating losing good players, but we have plenty of players in midfield," said Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
"We are looking to bring one more midfielder in, and maybe one defender as well because we still feel we are short in some positions."

Song, who had two years left on his contract, joined Arsenal as a 17-year-old from French side Bastia in 2005. He initially arrived on a one-year loan deal, with a £2.75m fee agreed to make the move permanent. Song went on to make more than 200 appearances for Arsenal, including 34 in the Premier League last season.

The midfielder will now link-up with former team-mate Cesc Fabregas at Barcelona who he believes will help him settle in at the Nou Camp.
"I know Cesc very well," Song added. "He's a very good friend of mine, he will help me to integrate."

Wenger To Leave Arsenal

At a press conference earlier today Arsene Wenger announced he was going to step down as Arsenal after more than 16 years at the club. The emotional interview came after Robin Van Persie and Alex Song left the club. The great manager had this to say to the fans,

“You have been great to me. I loved it here and I will always support the club. I am getting older and the fact is I am struggling to do my job to the best of my abilities. I will ever be grateful to the support you guys have given me. I feel that the club is not heading in the right direction and that a new manager should be put in place. I will help the board make a decision on who the new manager will be and it will be mostly my decision. Once you are a Gooner you are always a Gooner and I am most definitely a Gooner for life. I will always remember you as great fans and this club has been home for many of years and I will always be here watching on from the stands. Thank you”.

An emotional Wenger then broke down in tears after the announcement and so did many of fans across the world. Many fans are also shocked at the decision and feel that only a true Gooner should take over the club.

Many bookies feel that Dennis Bergkamp is favourite but who knows in this mad footballing world we live in.
Dennis Bergkamp 4/1
Thierry Henry 18/1
Tony Adams 20/1
Ian Wright 50/1
Roberto Di Matteo 60/1
Steve Bould 80/1
Here are some of the most memorable moments of Wengers time at Arsenal.
Tributes are pouring in for the Frenchman but many still wonder who will be Arsenal’s next manager……

Tony Adams Appointed As New Arsenal Manager

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has taken charge of the club as their new manager. The former defender has been appointed manager after Arsene Wenger left the club. Tony joins on a one year deal and the Chairman Peter Hill-Wood said he was looking forward to the new Arsenal,

“We are delighted that Mr Arsenal has accepted our offer. It was always going to be hard to replace Arsene Wenger but we believe that Tony has the skills to make the club successful again. We are looking for a Champions League place for next season and also a Trophy. We will make funds available for Tony to use at his dispense”.

Tony Adams also made a quick statement about his new job at the club,

“I am delighted to be back. I love this club and always will. It’s great that the club appointed someone who knows the club well and that will hopefully lead to success in the future. I aim to bring in 3 of my own faces to the team and I want to have a place in the top 4 and a trophy by the end of May next year. All I need is the fans support and I will be able to deliver. It has been too long and I want to end it. I could never say no to Arsenal and you know what the great man (Henry) said ‘You always go back where you belong’ and this is true to me”.

Tony Adams: A new Arsenal

In his first interview with ArsenalTV Tony Adams discusses his new role as Arsenal manager.

R: Hello Tony and welcome back to Arsenal.

T: Thanks it’s great to be back at such a great club.

R: How do you feel here as the manager of Arsenal?

T: Well it’s a huge honour and I am delighted to be hired and I want to bring success back to the fans here.

R: Your first game is Stoke Away and that is surely a difficult task?

T: Yes it is and Stoke are a very physical side and I want to use some of our new grit to show them what we are mad of.

R: Will you be making any signings this summer?.

T: Yes I will. Arsene signed Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla but I feel we need a new Midfielder, Defender and Striker to push on this season.

R: It is a proud day for you. Just sum up what it means to be back here?

T: It means a lot to me this club. I supported them and I played for them for my whole career. I wanted to go into management so to be able to take the reins here it is a magnificent opportunity for me to prove myself as a manager.

R: We wish you well and we won’t keep you as you need to go and meet the players. Thank you Tony.

T: Thanks.

The First Day

I pulled up to London Colney for the first time today and it was a great feeling. It was pristine clean and everywhere was spotless. I knew my way around already so I went into the changing rooms to put my training gear on and get ready to meet the squad.

I then bumped into my old friend and Assistant Manager Steve Bould who I want to have a great relationship with. He will be my eyes and ears on what is happening inside the team. I had a quick talk and we agreed on who would be our key players this season.

Santi Cazorla is my best player by far. He can change a game on its head and will be my main player this season. He has great talent and fills the void of Nasri and Fabregas well. He has great passing and vision and hopefully he can get some assists and goals this season.

Jack Wilshire is Arsenal’s best hope. He has great potential and he also loves the club like me. I intend to make him Captin as I believe he has the leadership quality’s the team lack. He will be one of the greatest players to ever play for the club.

Thomas Vermaelen is my current Captin and my best defender. He is a good defender but we do need better. He is a good leader but Jack will take the armband off of him. I intend to make him my startin CB akong with either Mertersacker or Koscielny.

After a look at the squad we needed to think of some tactics for the team and I had some good ideas.

All of these tactics will be used throughout the season so hopefully we can have success with them.
I'm really enjoying this, Tony Adams will bring the success that Arsenal deserve. Good luck.
