AUGUST 2012
After a successful pre-season, Napoli will hope to get underway with a great start in the season, but they have some tough games, including the first game at San Siro against AC Milan, followed by the UEFA Champions League draw and first game. Emmnauel Frimpong will be hoping to make maximum points while announcing two future transfers.
SERIE A
AC Milan 0-2 SSC Napoli
(Higuain x2)
SSC Napoli 3-0 Torino
(Garay, Hamsik, Tello)
Bologna 0-5 SSC Napoli
(Tello, Hamsik, Callejon, Dzemaili, Albiol)
SSC Napoli 4-1 ACF Fiorentina
(Albiol,,Higuain, Mertens x2)
Udinese 2-1 SSC Napoli
(Higuain)
Losing just one game is great, and the goal difference is brilliant now. With a goal difference of +12 after just 5 games, it's a good start, and hopefully can be developed. The highlight has to be the starting game against AC Milan, in which we dominated against an excellent side. Hopefully we can forget the Udinese game, and it shouldn't damage us too much at the moment.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP E
THE DRAW:
FC Bayern
Manchester City
SSC Napoli
Shakthar Donetsk
SSC Napoli 4-0 FC Bayern
(Higuain x2, Hamsik, OG)
Other Result: Manchester City 6-0 Shakthar Donetsk
A very tough draw in my opinion, and I was absolutely dreading it. The win against FC Bayern is unreal, especially at that score. It's great that Frimpong will get to fight it out with Pellegrini though and I can't wait for the game. After that win against FC Bayern, I'm hoping we can get second place in this group.
FUTURE TRANSFERS
TRANSFERS IN:
Hachim Mastour - AC Milan - £3.5M
Seung-Woo Lee - FC Barcelona - £725K
The two youngsters will both join the club on the 2nd January, signing from very reputable clubs. Hachim Mastour, currently 14, is already valued at £400k, but without playing a single game for the first team, will be signed for almost 10 times that value. Seung-Woo Lee, also 14, featured in a few friendlies, but still has little experience in first-team football. Nevertheless, both signings are certainly for the future.
