Well that was not what I was expecting at all! Great writing so far, had me glued in from the very first line :)

And lads, there's no place in football for the term "scum".

Spurs announce new manager

http://u.goal.com/106600/106654hp2.jpg

Redknapp to succeed Villas-Boas

The name on the manager's door at White Hart Lane will again read 'Redknapp'. But this time, it will not be former manager Harry Redknapp, but his son and former Spurs captain Jamie Redknapp.

Harry arrived at Tottenham in October 2007 with Spurs at the bottom of the table, but with the help of some key signings, rallied back to finish the season at 8th spot. In his first full campaign with the club, Redknapp lead Spurs to their best Premier League campaign to date, managing a 4th placed finish and therefore won the Premier League Manager of the Year for his efforts. After securing 5th place the following term, Spurs began to play some of the best football in England in the 2010-11 season, but Redknapp's link to the vacant England job coincided with a drop in form for Tottenham and they only managed to finish 4th again behind rivals Arsenal, even though they were tipped for a title challenge at some point. And with Chelsea winning the Champions League, Spurs were forced out into the Europa League and Redknapp left his post as manager after the club decided not to renew his contract. He currently is employed by Championship club Queens Park Rangers.

The hiring of Jamie Redknapp comes as a shock to many fans, with the Sky Sports pundit and Daily Mail columnist having zero experience in management, with the exception of coaching Chelsea's reserve team. The former Armani model has 17 caps for England, and also played for Spurs in a two-and-a-half period between 2002 and 2005.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is known to make logical decisions, and he has publicly backed the 39 year old to lead Tottenham to success, meaning that Levy clearly sees something in him.

Redknapp's immediate task will be to keep hold of talisman Gareth Bale, who is currently being tracked by Real Madrid and Manchester United, as well as strengthening his squad for the upcoming season.

Spurs sign four youngsters

Redknapp: Youth is the way forward

Tottenham have completed the signings of four youngsters, highlighting an emphasis on youth.

Moves for Croatian teenagers Alen Halilovic and Tin Jedvaj were completed just a few hours before Redknapp was officially announced as the new Spurs manager. The duo from Dinamo will link up with their North London teammates in a year's time, due to certain rules of the Croatian league.. The deal is said to have cost Spurs an estimated £16m - £10m for attacking midfielder Halilovic and £6m for Jedvaj.

Halilovic has been called the next Luka Modric

Both of them have been tipped to have the potential to be one of the best - especially Halilovic - by the coaches of Dinamo as well as the Croatian Under-19 team. And since these two moves were completed before Redknapp took charge, it is understood that it will not affect his budget - reported to be around £30m.

Spurs' next two signings hail from Spain, and come in the form of Valencia's Paco Alcacer and Barca's Sergi Samper.

Redknapp initially targeted Valencia captain Roberto Soldado, but Daniel Levy was unwilling to pay the Spanish club's £26m asking price for the 28 year old. So, Spurs have instead signed the man that is viewed as Soldado's successor - Francisco 'Paco' Alcacer.

The 18 year old spent the last season on loan at Getafe and has been tipped to be Spain's next #9 by the Spanish media. The young striker will cost Spurs an initial £10m, with a potential £3m more in add-ons. Alcacer will immediately return to the city of Valencia, but to play for cross town rivals Levante.

Samper, meanwhile, was the crown jewel of Barca's youth academy over recent years, with the Catalan club even making him the focus of an extensive documentary about La Masia and their starlets. Samper starred in the inaugural NextGen Series for the Blaugrana, catching the eyes of scouts around Europe. 'The Next Xavi' however, has been frustrated that his progress has been hindered by lack of football at higher levels - much like Cesc Fabregas - and Tottenham have snapped him up for a compensation fee understood to be around £1.3m.

Gaffer Jamie Redknaapp spoke out about these signings. "I'm very happy that we've managed to secure these signings. They're very exciting prospects - and they all can become some of the best players in the world. I hope I can see them all wearing a Spurs shirt and playing in the Champions League final in some years."
Great Update and great signings! Never seen Samper before but might take a look at him on my Roma save now!
Nice signings, I expect them to do well in the future :)
Going for youth eh?
@Nathaniel: He is quite bad to start with, but he's got a massive PA and hopefully I can train him right and get him to his full potential.

@Justice: Three out of four of them have PAs above 170, so there's a good chance at least one or two of them will be in my first team in the years to come.

@Kiddy: Maybe, but I've got quite a few first teamers lined up as well ;)
Great start Arvind. I will be following, as usual ;)
Is that a spotted Pavel Nedved?
Good signings there!
