Belgian Man Youngest to Gain UEFA Pro License

In something that is going to create great discussion among the football community, Serge Laurent, an unknown 26 year old from Mons, Belgium, has become the youngest ever person to successfully attain the UEFA Pro License, breaking the previous record of 29 years set by Karl Robinson, who is currently manager of MK Dons. The only thing that is known about Laurent is that he once had a trial with local club Mons, but has never played professionally. Several clubs have been asked about hiring Laurent, but nothing formal has been announced yet, and several unnamed insider sources say that Laurent will need to show what he can do at smaller clubs first.
Good luck :)

The Rules

- Load ALL THE LEAGUES!
- Start as a Sunday League Footballer, unemployed
- Stay at one job no longer than 4 seasons
- If a club offers you a job while you're at a team, take it.
- The goal is to manage a club in the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, or Serie A.
- The goals after that is to win the top division, and then Europa League/Champions League, and of course any other trophies along the way.

Laurent Stays Home, Signs With Torhout

After considering job offers from places as far-flung as Indonesia, Serge Laurent has ended up accepting a 500 Euro/week job with Torhout in the Belgian Derde Klasse A. The board's only condition was that he develop youth players. Laurent was said to be disappointed to not receive more job offers, but that it would be great to start his managerial career in his home country, even if it is not in Wallonia.
Good luck man!! This should be awesome with all the leagues loaded!! I will be following.

Good luck Eb! I have a feeling about this story mate! Btw, I think AVB has the record of being a coach of UEFA as he was an U-21 coach when he was 17 I believe.

Did he have the UEFA Pro license, though? I looked up on Wikipedia and it said Karl Robinson was the youngest license holder.

Torhout: An Introduction

Squad
I'm not even going to bother with the youth, as they're likely too raw to make an impact. I can already see that I want to run a 4-2-3-1 shape like Manchester City does, since we have an abundance of AMCs and almost no wide midfielders. Unfortunately, Torhout doesn't have any parent teams, so we'll be hard-pressed to get free loanees to fill squad positions and save costs.

Tactics
The tactic I will primarily use. No shouts, and the only player instructions are to cut out the long shots and for the goalkeeper to long kick to the target man. I want to become a more complete manager so I'm attempting a longball style here.

Club Overview
Just your average third division Belgian club. The chairman loves the club, so he should be happy to do what it takes (within reason) for the club.

Staff
The key positions are all filled out, but Vital Nguyen will be mutually terminated since he's a sack of crap.

2012 Preseason

- Torhout are pleased to announce an affiliation with Anderlecht. We will be their feeder club, and will help to develop their players.

Torhout 5 - 2 Diegem
What a great turnout for my first friendly match! We played great route one ball, my keeper played many accurate long balls to the target man who got them, and Klaas Devriendt scored a hat trick. There were some noticeable flaws, though, I could use a couple more center midfielders and another AMC, and the fitness levels weren't perfect, but they'll come in time.
Player of the Match: Klaas Devriendt (Torhout)

Herentals 2 - 3 Torhout
Even though we fell behind early, and Herentals were let in within a goal because of a mis-save from the goalkeeper, we played some excellent football today. Jo Vermast was deadly, heading in two deep crosses, then taking a long ball to the end of the pitch and crossing it to Devriendt for the game-winning goal.
Player of the Match: Jo Vermast (Torhout)

Torhout 1 - 3 Standard
Obviously, not an ideal result, but for playing a first division club, I thought it was a great result. We kept our shape and forced them to take shots at range, which they did well, but they were always going to outclass us. Due to depth issues at BWM, center back Rico Jordi started there and had a pretty good game, even scoring a goal on a corner kick.
Player of the Match: Astrit Ajdarevic (Standard)

Torhout 2 - 0 De Graafschap
We got a bit lucky here, with Gaetano Lamonaca giving us the lead early on with a screamer just outside the box, but Bart Vlaeminck's goal was no accident. He received a through ball popped over the defender, rounded the goalkeeper, and had an empty net at his leisure.
Player of the Match: Brian Vandenberghe (Torhout)

Torhout 2 - 2 Mallorca
Mallorca bent our defense but didn't break it until early in the second half when Renan Felipe conceded a penalty. They doubled up the lead with Joao Victor's rebound, but Dieter Yde was the supersub for Torhout, scoring a brace and getting into dangerous positions. Even though it's only a friendly, it's a huge result for Torhout!
Player of the Match: Dieter Yde (Torhout)

Torhout 1 - 2 Fiorentina Reserves
A disappointing showing from us, I think we could have come out with a win if we had played better, but we committed two grave errors: First, Rico Jordi let his man in the box receive a cross and score easily, second, we gave the fullback acres of space and time to unleash a cross that was headed in for the winning score. With Vermast's injury, Verdonk is penciled in as the starter to open the season, as he played better than Nana Osei-Berkoe and created a goal.
Player of the Match: Sebastiaan De Wilde (Torhout)

Transfers

In
- Fullback Brian Vandenberghe from VC Wingene on a free transfer.
- Free agent midfielder Steve Barbe has signed on, we will be using him as a deep lying playmaker.
- Brazilian center back Renan Felipe has signed on, he was the top recommendation of my scouts and will be sure to be a great player for us.
- Attacking midfielder Kristopher Vicente has signed with Torhout.
- Goalkeeper Tristan Peersman has signed from FC Herk on a free transfer, he is an excellent and experienced goalkeeper at this level and can kick a ball downfield, too.
- Striker Jo Vermast has signed with Torhout on a free transfer, he isn't especially tall but has the attributes to be a great target man.
- Striker Jan Hendrickx has signed with Torhout on a free transfer, and he's an even better target man. 17 heading! Too bad he isn't coming until 2013, unfortunately.
- Striker Glenn Verdonk has been signed to be our backup target man.
- After about a week of deliberation, attacking midfielder Gaetano Lamonaca has signed with Torhout over other teams, making Torhout even more solid up front.
- We have signed Yannick Woos to provide DLP depth, he's not a natural center mid but is an adept DLP from defensive mid and hopefully his game will translate a little further up the pitch.
- Sebastiaan De Wilde, a young center back, has been taken in on loan from Anderlecht to help with the numbers there. He might also get played as a ball winning midfielder some.

Chairman's Meeting

http://cityjoinery.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Executive-Office-600.jpg
"So, you've been here for a month, Serge. How are you enjoying the club?"

"It's easier than I thought it'd be, Mr. Willem..."

"You can call me Joel," he said curtly, but not rudely.

"Joel, honestly. The players are adapting well to the tactic, although on match day some of them might not be responsive to my coaxing, but I'll get them firmly under my command soon."

"Well, that's what I pay you to do...hm..." Joel looks intently at a sheet of paper. "First off, I'd like to commend you for the results against Mallorca and De Graafschap. It looked like Mallorca was going to roll you, but you somehow pulled a rabbit out of your hat."

"I am always confident in my abilities and in that of my players. I would not put them out there, and I would not have you pay them with your money if you were not confident in them."

"Still, these are only friendlies, Serge. The real matches have yet to be played. Playing against familiar competition is tough. In addition, you had a disappointing result against Fiorentina Reserves, you certainly should have been able to do better than that."

"I know. I think the players got a little too excited about the friendlies being over and checked out there. Don't worry, I'll have them back in top mental shape."

"How are the youth coming along? All I've been hearing about Torhout is that we've been signing older players."

"Joel, I don't know if you know this, but we don't have the resources to carry out a proper youth program right now, which is a shame, since the best way to make money in football, short of whoring yourself out to oil money, is developing and selling players. Right now, our focus should be getting promotions. Promotions equal money, and with money we can invest in market inequalities and develop the club's balance, then we can develop a proper youth academy. Plus, I don't remember you saying that it had to be our youth, we have some lads coming in from Anderlecht that will help us out over the coming season!"

The chairman smirked. "Serge, I like your spirit. Of course you have my confidence, and I think you'll be able to shock everyone and get us a promotion this season."

"I'm confident, but please, don't make that an official expectation. I think we all perform a little better without pressure."

"Of course not. Now go on, you've got work to do, and so do I."

Anyway, great update eb, I like how most of the characters in your story (Limior and Laurent) have the same attitude which is straightforward, hard working and honest!

Btw, you have inspired me to do a Limior-esque career :P

Really nice update eb, I hope this story is as good as your last and so far it has proven that it could be better.
Dunno if you realized mate but I have literally the exact same title on one of my stories. xD That's ok though. Good luck.
