Dartford bounce back!

After losing two games in a row for the first time of the season, Blue Square Bet South leaders Dartford won easly against Farnborough (4-0) in a very nice game. After Tshepe opener on penalty, Derek Dixion scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season. Richard Spring completed the scoreline with is 5th (great) goal on a free-kick.
"It was a great performance from us, told us Dartford's skipper. I think everyone played well, Alex wanted us to react and that exactly what we did. I scored a goal too and it's always nice to do so but now we are already preparing the FA Tophy game."

Derek Dixion also spoke to us and he think that the team can keep this good form:
"We had hard game recently and it was a hard period for the club. We nearly lost our first place last week and it's reassuring to know that we will stay at top for at least the next 10 day. We now need to keep winning like we did in September or October and I'm sure we can go on to win this title."
Just noticed that the last update was at the same time my 750 posts and this story 150 reply :D

Sonwild is gutted

Before the game, a draw was above expections for Dartford. This afternoon, the Blue Square Bet South leaders were playing Luton, leader of the Blue Square Bet Premier, in FA Trophy 2nd round.
"The last thing I wanted was a replay, the team is really tired. At half-time I had already done my three changes and four or five players could have been changed at the same time."

At half-time the score was already a draw as David Barlett header on a Spring corner responded to Seamus Jenkinson close range finish. But why is Sonwild so disapointed?
At the 85th minute, Medina scored a great goal on a cross from Moore who gave the lead to the Darts. After that goal, Sonwild's mens held on that score until the last six seconds and Ray Williams shot who took a deflection on Hervé Lecuras and lobed an unlucky Baxter to gain the replay for Luton.
"I really thought we had won it, told us Sonwild,This goal really broke my heart. It was really unlucky for us and I can't blame my players. They all played well and come very close to the exploit."

Luton manager Matthew Mahon is also dissapointed with final score.
"We were favourite and we showed it by dominating the game but we missed to many chances to score and conceded goals on the two area we had rated as the most dangerous: Spring set-pieces and Moore's cross."

The replay will take place in 4 days at Luton ground.

Dartford steal penalty glory!

Luton Town 1 - 1 Dartford (FA Trophy 2nd Rnd)
(Dartford won 5-4 on penalties)

Dartford turned this match on its head to gain a smash and grab victory at Kenilworth Road this evening.

Striker Tom O'Brien got Dartford off to a flyer by scoring a deftly executed finish on 7 minutes. The Darts dominated the first half of the game before weakening and staying in-front, thanks to the crossbar on several occasions. Young winger Ryan Lomas finally equalised for Luton after 80 minutes with a fluke goal.

In the shootout that followed it turned out to be heartache for Luton Town and Lomas as he missed the final spotkick. Thought Dartford was first two miss, Dixion sending the ball in the sky, the woodwork saved once again the Darts as Toase and Lomas were unable to convert there shot.

The next round will take place on Saturday 4th February, the Darts will face Cambridge (Blue Square Bet Premier).
