I hailed from the tiny country of Singapore in Southeast Asia. My mother, born in Merseyside, and my father, a Singaporean Chinese, both moved back to England when I was young as my mother had expressed a desire to return to her homeland. Gradually, I started getting into football and supported the local professional club, Liverpool. They were my inspiration and I loved all the players there. They were just so great, and I aspired to be like one of them one day. Unfortunately, I never had the footballing skills I needed to make it on the big stage, occasionally just playing in the local Sunday League. However, I soon developed further interest in management and creating tactics and formations.

When the time was right, I started to pursue a footballing-related career in a non-playing role. Eventually, I managed to impress the higher powers at Liverpool and I was offered a contract as a youth coach at the club. Usually only the manager and the players in the first team, and a handful of the more talented Reserve players, were recgonised by the media and the fans. No one knew much about the coaches, the staff, supporting the club from the back stage. However, I loved my job as the club's youth coach and remained in that capacity for five years.

It wasn't long before Liverpool went through a turbulent period; Liverpool, my club, my one love, managed to miss out on Champions' League football for successive seasons. I wanted to help, do something, to help the club regain it's former glory. My determination was noticed by the Liverpool board, and after Kenny Dalglish left the club after his short-term managerial contract was over, I was appointed the new manager of Liverpool on a 2-year contract. My appointment shocked the media and the fans who were expecting Reds legend Dalglish to stay on as manager, and understandably many were appalled by Thomas Werner's decision.

But I am going to prove to everyone, the fans, the media, that Werner has made the right choice. I am Glenn Tham, and this is my story to become one of Europe's most successful managers.

Not many of the first team knew much about me as I always worked with the youth players and not the first team, so they were also unsure about my appointment and if I could take the club to the next level.

On my first day as manager of Liverpool, I moved quickly to release a few staff on frees. I released eight scouts - Stuart Wbber, Mike McGlynn, Diego Caniggia, Ian Barrigan, David Moss, Mads Jorgensen, Steve Hitchen, and Alan Harper. I also let go of our goalkeeping coach John Achterberg and fitness coach Jordan Milsom. Regrettably I also released a few of my former colleagues, three youth coaches at the club Mike Marsh, Mark Morris and Steve Cooper. I also promoted two of the most promising youngsters in the academy, Raheem Sterling and Suso Fernandez, to the first team as I felt they were ready despite their tender age at 16 and 17 respectively. Unlike the first team, they knew me very well as I had coached them before so I think they'll definitely be easier to manage.

At my first press conference, I told the media that the fans should be expecting attractive football with me as manager and that I would be doing little transfers in the transfer market with the transfers of Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson already agreed before my appontment. Apart from that, I also told the press that my players could come to me whenever they need for whatever.

This will be the tactics I'll use for my Liverpool squad.

P.S. It's called Man Utd 1 and 2 because I previously used these tactics in a Man Utd save.

I did a heck load of staff transfers and I haven't really completed my 'staff overhaul' yet. I am still looking to get a few more coaches, first team coaches, youth coaches and maybe release a few of my physios.

TRANSFERS IN

Seydou Keita (Barcelona, $4.2M)

Put on the transfer list at Barca after deemed surplus to requirements, I moved quickly to get Keita into the squad as I felt we needed much talent in the central midfield area as I didn't think Charlie Adam could make the cut. His transfer was not arranged by me, after all. Keita signed for $4.2M on a lucrative three-year contract, and although he had took a pay cut to leave Barcelona, his salary of $115,000 per week still made him one of the highest earners at the club. On his transfer, Keita said, "I am delighted to be given the opportunity to move to a big club like Liverpool and I am hoping that I can help bring further trophies to Anfield."

Felipe Anderson (Santos, Loan Fee $16k)

On the loan list at Santos, I decided to get the talented wonderkid on loan for a season with a future fee of $8M. "To move to a club like Liverpool is what all the kids back in Brazil all dream about. I hope to put in some good performances for the team during my time here and hopefully secure a permanent transfer."
I have sent John Flanagan, Nathan Eccleston and Connor Coady to Millwall, Bournemouth and Accrington respectively.

The pre-season friendlies weren't so bad. The only blemish was a 1-0 loss against Racing Club.
TRANSFERS IN

Nelson Oliveira (Benfica, $5M)

I bought the up-and-coming Portuguese striker to the club as a decent backup. At 20 years old, Oliveira had a lot of potential but it remains to be seen whether he'll fulfill it. "I can't speak English and the manager can't speak Portuguese but football is a universal language," Nelson Oliveira said warmly in Portuguese, during the press conference I'd called to announce his arrival. "I don't expect to start every week right away but I still hope I can grab a few goals so as to have a memorable first season here and be a reliable backup to Luis and Andy."
My first league game as Liverpool manager came in the form of Bolton, and it was a game where we drew 2-2. New signing Keita scored with a close-range effort but Liverpool old boy David N'Gog equalized for Bolton. Carragher then headed the ball into the net just after the hour mark, only for it to be cancelled out by Tuncay Sanli's goal, and we left the match with only one point to show.

Our second league game was against Manchester City, and the media wrote us off completely but I was somewhat confident we could get something out of the match. Unfortunately we lost 2-0 as City dominated us the entire match.

After a couple of good games, save for a 4-0 thrashing by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, we now sit 4th in the league table, just below big guns Man City and United, and also surprisingly, Wolves. However it's still very early in the season and I am not prepared to rest easy despite having a great start to my managerial career.

We have also beat minnows Hartlepool, Spurs and Aston Villa in the League Cup. Although I expected to get easier matches and wasn't prepared to face a big club in the Premier League, we thrashed Spurs 5-0 and Villa 3-0, with Nelson Oliveira scoring two in the Spurs drubbing and one in the Villa win. My new summer signings are all doing extremely well and their attitude has been top class. The only concern of my summer signings is Felipe Anderson as in the first two to three games I fielded him in, he has not been playing up to standard. He has also been asking regularly if I would transfer him permanently to the club. All I could say was to wait until the end of the season.

Jonjo Shelvey has also been complaining about not getting enough first-team starts even though he is still young, an attitude which doesn't go well with me. However, he has bags of potential and it would be a shame to let him go. I will try to play him and Felipe Anderson more this season although it will probably be impossible to remove my first-choice central midfielders Lucas and Keita at this point in time. Jordan Henderson is also one to look out for, while I think I will look to sell Charlie Adam at the end of the next season, or by latest the end of the season after next.

All these things aside, I have also farmed Andre Wisdom out on loan to Bristol City.

We next faced Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League and it was goals galore as we had to battle hard to a 3-3 draw. Sterling and Nelson Oliveira both scored for Liverpool as I decided to put my faith in the youngsters and started Felipe Anderson, Sterling, Suso, Kelly and Nelson. We were 2-1 up at half time but unfortunately Blackburn struck back and by 80 minutes it was 3-2. However, sub Suarez, who came on for Seydou Keita, played a delightful ball who Nelson Oliveira managed to get on the end of, and he struck the ball into the net with a fierce shot to secure us at least a point. We have now unfortunately dropped to 6th place in the league.

A header from Jamie Carragher wasn't enough to let us triumph over our fierce rivals, high-flying Manchester United, as they beat us in a 2-1 win. We have now dropped to 8th place in the league, but on the positive side my full-time talk inspired many of the team and we are all looking forward to our next fixture.
My next result is a 2-2 draw against Wolves. We were 2-0 down in 10 minutes but thankfully Shelvey's first goal for the club and Suso's fierce volley secured at least a point for us, which was a fair result as we played some entertaining football. I told the team that I was pleased with their entertaining football but I could see a few of the players who didn't play so well took the praise a little too well and I pulled these group of players aside to tell them that they had to improve over the next game and that their performance in this game was just, well, bad. Carroll didn't take the criticism too well and he went public after the game that he felt I had to choose my words more carefully in future. I felt a little pissed because really no one gave him the permission to speak to the media about me, but oh well.

After reading the news report of the match earlier I had a casual chat with the board and they told me not to worry about the stability of my job despite my poor run of four games without a win so far and that they had faith in my ability. They also pointed out the signings of Keita and Oliveira as great deals and ones that the fans have been very happy with and praised me for the decision to bring them to the club. Lastly, they said that they were very happy with the entertaining football we had displayed despite recent results, and believed the fans were too.

All in all, I'm just happy that I can at least still keep this job for a few more months. I better look to get some good results fast.
