Mid season summary

Manager notes

I've been truly impressed with my team in the first half of the season. When I took this job I had no knowledge whatsoever of Bournemouth and little knowledge of League 1 in general. I set my expectations as a top half finish and even though I am sat in 1st after 23 games I won't be changing these expectations when I'm asked. I hope the board will see come the end of the season if I get promoted that by setting my expectations as just a top half finish that I will have massively overachieved them. I will now be on the lookout through January for decent players who's contracts are expiring that I can sign for next season as funds are tight.

January

AFC Bournemouth 2-0 Hartlepool League 1

A nice way to start the new year with a 2-0 home win in a game we were clear favourites to win.

AFC Bournemouth 0-0 Sheff Wed League 1

We could only manage a draw at home to Sheff Wed but it ensures our unbeaten run in the League 1 of 7 games goes on.

Preston 2-3 AFC Bournemouth League 1

A great win against Preston in which we had 10 men and came from behind twice to take all 3 points.

Rochdale 0-1 AFC Bournemouth League 1

A goal by Kezman fresh back from injury is enough to secure all 3 points away at Rochdale.

Chesterfield 1-2 AFC Bournemouth League 1

We end the month still top of League 1 and undefeated.

League table

I asked the board to consider offering me a new contract as my current one didn't have long to run. They duly accepted and I was offered the following 2 year extension to my contract worth £1,200 per week.

February

AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Bury League 1

A home draw against Bury starts off the month ensuring we still maintain our unbeaten record in League 1.

Charlton 0-0 AFC Bournemouth League 1

A draw was fair in this game we were the underdogs and didn't convert our chances.

AFC Bournemouth 5-1 Exeter League 1

A hat trick for Thomas and a brace for Kezman grabs all 3 points in a massive home win against Exeter.

MK Dons 0-1 AFC Bournemouth League 1

A goal right at the death in the 89th minute steals all 3 points away from MK Dons.

AFC Bournemouth 0-0 Notts County League 1

Another draw but at least we're not losing and still maintaining an unbeaten record.

League table

Our unbeaten run has now stretched to 15 games and at the start of the season our league prediction was 8th and I told the board I would finish in the top half of the table. We've stretched our lead to the top of League 1 to 12 points and with just 13 games to go winning League 1 is becoming a very real possibility.

March

Leyton Orient 2-2 AFC Bournemouth League 1

A very dissapointing draw after going 2-0 up in the first half.

AFC Bournemouth 1-0 Stevenage League 1

A nice 1-0 win at home keeps us on course for promotion.

Brentford 1-1 AFC Bournemouth League 1

Another draw against contenders Brentford where we were huge underdogs so overall it's a great result.

AFC Bournemouth 4-0 Sheff Utd League 1

A MASSIVE win against high flying Sheff Utd takes us one step closer to promotion.

Oldham 1-3 AFC Bournemouth League 1

A 3-1 win away at Oldham secures us a playoff spot but I'm sure we will do better than that.

AFC Bournemouth 0-5 Walsall League 1

A huge 5-0 home defeat ends our unbeaten run of 21 games I just don't know what happened we completely fell apart in both halfs.

AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Scunthorpe League 1

A draw ends the month and still sees us in pole position.

League table

It looks like you're cruising... keep it up! Looks like you've already won the league!

April

Yeovil 0-0 AFC Bournemouth League 1

Another draw I could really do with a win or 2 to guarantee promotion to the Championship.

Huddersfield 2-1 AFC Bournemouth League 1

I don't know what is going wrong things seem to be falling apart right at the business end of the season but I still have a 9 point lead over Huddersfield in 2nd with 4 games to go and even though we lost I have secured guaranteed promotion.

AFC Bournemouth 0-2 Colchester League 1

Luckily promotion is already secure because my team have fell apart in this final month I really need at least 4 points in my next 3 games to win League 1.

Carlisle 0-3 AFC Bournemouth League 1

A midweek team meeting really boosted morale and the team once again showed their fighting spirit and willingmess to win the league by smashing Carlisle 3-0.

AFC Bournemouth 0-1 Wycombe League 1

All we needed was a point to secure League 1 and we scored late in the 2nd half only for it to be ruled out for offside. We're still 3 points clear of 2nd placed Huddersfield and need 1 point in our final game to ensure we win League 1.

League table

May

Tranmere 0-3 AFC Bournemouth League 1

And there it is we've won League 1 and now the hard work is on to strengthen the squad for next season bring on the Championship.

Final League table

Congratulations on winning the nPower League 1, but I think that the last stretch showed that you have some weaknesses to work on. Good luck!

End of season report

Well what can I say we've achieved the impossible at the start of the season our media prediction was 8th and I told the board I expected we would finish in the top half yet we went on to win the league it was truly remarkable. I only made 4 signings that I thought would boost the team without bringing in to many players and upsetting the morale of the squad and it worked perfectly. Now I have the task of strengthening this squad for the task of taking my team up to the N Power Championship and with funds being tight so far I will have to rely on free transfers and loans.

Thanks very much I'm glad you like it :)
Wow great story. Congrats on winning the league. If you want some good, relatively cheap players, I would suggest loading the Finnish top flight as they have a ton of Championship quality players. I would also suggest looking at Nigerian striker Worgu. I can't remember what team he plays for but he is insanely cheap and possesses great physical qualities aswell as being able to play AML.
