2012-09-16 20:40#66074 The FM Rookie : Keep up the great work!! I'm sure you will top the table with your team's evident scoring ability.

Hopefully I will get passed Brann soon. I just hope that Anier wants to stay at Viking
Superb Stuff!

I decided to do one more save before FM13. I wanted something different from anything i've ever tried before and loaded up FM12 with all leagues loaded etc and after searching the different leagues decided to take over Viking FK. The game start date however was June 2011 so the Norwegian league was already 12 (ish) games old. Viking were struggling 2nd from bottom and without a manager so I opted to start with them for realism.

Loving the league at the minute. Glad I stumbled across your reports and found someone else enjoying there spell at Viking. Are you still playing it?

Viking has been struggling in the bottom half for the last few seasons, so it is not a very unrealistic picture of real life. You can say that I am overachieveing with Viking. And if you started in June 2011 I don't think you have Ørnskov or Anier in your squad if I'm right?

I am still playing it, and an update will arrive soon :-)

I typed a big detailed response but stupid site came up with an error when clicking post lol! Nevermind so this reply will be much briefer.

Both players are in my save luckily. Should they not be? Theyve been there since the start of the season as well. Anier has hardly featured and is currently my regular 1st ST sub who comes on. I have no intention of getting rid though, he just cant force his way into my starting xi as Nevland and Soukouna have been on fire for me.

GK:Rune Almenning Jarstein
DL:Pierre Wome
DR:Lucky Baloyi
DC:Indriði Sigurðsson (Captain)
DC:Johan Lædre Bjørdal
MC:Martin Ørnskov
MC:André Danielsen
AML:Valon Berisha
AMR:Patrik Ingelsten
F:Erik Nevland
F:Ahmed Soukouna

is my usual starting line up. Currently 1st in the league though the league is so tight! Should be a exciting run to the end of the season.

Could you answer me 1 question though that nobody on any of these global forums have been able to answer me though?

Its in regards to the registration window/rules. I see you can only have 35 players registered, and I also see you can have no more than 11 overseas players.

My question is, does this registration window ever shut and your fixed with that 35 players. As on my save obviously everytime I sign a player I have to register him but I can still chop an change my squad as I please.

Basically if I wanted I could exploit this and sign way more than 11 overseas players and just keep registering and unregistering people when required every game. I can see the transfer window open and close dates but nothing about the registration window. When ive done saves in the MLS and the Premier League before it displays a date that your squad has to be registered by and then your stuck with that squad.

Didnt know if this is a bug or not.

Anier and Ørnskov was players that joined Viking in 2012, so that's why I wondered if you had them in your team.

The registration window never ends, so you can basiclly change your squad anytime. You can also do free transfers whenever you want to.
Thanx for the reply! Honestly you wont believe how many different forums ive asked that question on and everyone just goes on about the transfer window.

Im like I KNOW THE BLOOMING TRANSFER WINDOW DATES!!!!!! lol

Luckily both players are in my Viking squad.

Think I know why. Basically I didnt know who I wanted to manage when I started the save. I loaded up all leagues (except Peru lol) as usual with a start date of June 2011. Now because the im using the official updates despite them joining in 2012 I think they are included on my 2011 save simply because the season is half way through by my start date. So there just there like they would be had I choose Jan 2012 as a start date.

Really enjoying the save. Though I can see signing Norwegian players of quality or potential quality may be hard. Saying that though seeing as I can change my squad anytime I please I may sign more overseas players and just re-sort the players on a game by game basis. Maybe thats exploiting the system but its an option lol.

The registration rules are very weird here so I understand that it causes confusion for people who don't know the Norwegian league.

Good to see you're enjoying your save! Are you doing well?

News update

Two players out and one in at Viking

The last days of the transfer window has passed and Viking made some last changes. Both Alexander Ludwig and Hajime Hosogai was loaned out. Ludwig joined German club Karlsruhe, and Hosogai joined the Dutch club NEC Nijmegen.

The Austrian youngster Thomas Mayer joined Viking on a free transfer.

Europa League groups has been drawn

UEFA drew the groups for the Europa League earlier today. Viking got beaten in the play-offs for the Champions League, and therefore qualified for the group stages of the EL.

Viking was drawn in Group G along with Rubin Kazan, Panathinaikos and Hoffenheim.

Viking to be sold?

Chairman at Viking, Magnus Buene, has decided to step aside and wants to sell Viking. Manager Henrik Steinnes is nervous to see if he will keep his job after an eventual take-over.

Fixtures in September

Tippeligaen
Viking - Hønefoss
Tromsø - Viking
Viking - Brann

Europa League
Viking - Hoffenheim

Match of the month:

Can Viking get past Brann on the table when the two teams meet in a match that could be decisive in the title race.

What do you think about this month? How do you think I'll do next month? How will I do it in the EL? Can I get through to the knock-out stages?
Please comment :-)
Congratulations on making the Europa League groups!! Also being third in the league is a good result. Only four points off the top so I'd say you are still in the title race. Keep it up

Yeah, everything is possible, and I still have matches against both of them so I can still get the title :-)

Well its going very slowly as after the birth of my 1st child recently times been something I dont have but im nearing the end of my 1st season and currently 1st by 3points over Molde. But the whole league is so tight there is no room for a slip in form.

Loving it though. Just wish I had more time to progress it further.

Congrats on your child!

The Norwegian league is indeed very tight, and it has been so for the last years, and this year as well. One loss can get a team dropping from 4th place to 8th place.

Possible Viking take-over collapses

In the last weeks there have been speculations around an ownership takeover. Today it was announced that the negotiations has collapsed. This means that Magnus Buene is still chairman of Viking FK.
