The Arrival of Michael Owen
Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of Stoke striker Michael Owen
The veteran player was not doing well at Stoke and after six months, Tony Pulis' side were prepared to let him leave. Andriy Shevchenko
got his man for just 400k.
The Ukrainian has not used Mark Hughes' summer signing Andy Johnson
this season at all, instead preferring Djibril Cisse and Bobby Zamora.
"Michael will provide quality backup to Djibril and Bobby," explained Shevchenko. "He's played for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle, and United. He's been there, he's done it all. He'll add tons of experience to the dressing room."
Meanwhile, as Owen arrives, Anton Ferdinand
and Jay Bothroyd
have been loaned out to Brighton and Hove Albion. Shaun Wright-Phillips
also leaves on loan to Celtic, while DJ Campbell
has agreed a free transfer to Ipswich.
