2013-04-08 10:35#90656 Glenn T : Peter Clarke doesn't really look that 'key' to me :P

Oh he isn't key in the sense that he is of a higher ability than others but he has been at the club for a long time and he has a lot of playing experience.

Thanks for reading Glenn :)

Pre-Season

It was quite an impressive pre-season with the team playing well together and enjoying being back on the pitch. I was very impressed by the team’s confidence in beating premiership standard in QPR. I never expected us to beat Sevilla and Galatasary who are of a different class but I was happy to see the team get a goal against the latter mentioned. The club is going to need a lot of improvements made over the coming seasons but it will have to be a very slow rebuild.

Expectations

Thankfully the Huddersfield Town chairman and board of directors are not putting too much pressure on the team to succeed in the Championship at the first time of asking. Instead they are going to see this season as a consolidating one, meaning, that they are not expecting even a mid-table finish. They simply want the club still in the Championship next season.

Transfers

Ryan Tunnicliffe
CA: PA:

Details of Transfer: Season long loan. No monthly fee but Huddersfield Town will pay £1k of Ryan’s wages.

Ryan has been signed as I feel the club needs more depth in the middle of the park. His aggression and bravery means he will put in tackles when they are needed. These attributes combined with his determination means that Ryan will command the middle of the pitch and work well with the defenders when it comes to defending our goal.

Transfers Out:
Godwin Abadaki Loan terminated. Returned to Rochdale
Nice results, especially QPR and Tunnicliffe looks good!
Great Preseaon, carry it on into the league and cups
Really great pre-season there, Tunnicliffe is a nice signing as well.
Nice job beating QPR James, looking forward to seeing how you'll be doing once the Championship starts :) Hope this story is going to be as awesome as the Liverpool one :D
Don't know why everyone is fussing with the win over QPR, I could beat them 1-0 with Wrexham :P

Just kidding! Great pre-season results! Time to take the league by storm...? :D
Why thank you. I don’t tend to read much into pre-season games as I just see them as a gaining match fitness exercise so I’m never too bothered about the results. I can see Tunnicliffe doing well for us this season (although I already know how he has done). Thanks for reading.

Pre-season went surprisingly well, especially as I was trying out tactics the players were not accustom to. Thanks for reading.

Thank you Arvind and nice to see you have followed me to my Huddersfield Town story. I am hoping to share a lot of positive things with you but I am still looking for that unique twist which will grab reader’s attention.

Pah guy wins STOM and suddenly thinks he’s all that with Wrexham! Haha I didn’t take charge of pre-season which shows my lack of interest in it but it was good to see the team get results. Thanks for reading.

Capital One Cup First Round

Match Result

I have to say that this match left me wondering about my choice of tactics and furthermore, it made me realise that I haven’t made the team train hard enough in pre-season. I have already decided to swap my choice of tactics around and have the team playing a much more attacking game instead of just stopping ourselves conceding goals. It is great to see the team progress to the next round and I hope, as do the board of directors, that we will reach the third round as a minimum.

Capital One Cup Second Round

Match Result

August

It is difficult to summarise this first month in charge of Huddersfield Town. I should be over the moon that we have made an undefeated start to the Championship league season with three draws against three teams who will be pushing for promotion. However, I am also slightly disappointed that we couldn’t just get that little bit more from the game, especially as all we seemed to pick up was injuries. The squad is now running thin which may force me into the transfer market which has three days before it closes.

What I am going to have to learn quickly is not to expect the same level of performances or consistency as I did with Liverpool FC. This is a whole different ball game, a whole different league, however I am enjoying it already.

Player of the Month – Alex Smithies

Great start to the story :) I'm sure the results are going to pick up.
All of the matches were extremely tough. It was just unfortunate to have such a hard fixture in the first opening games. Penalty loss to Sunderland isn't too bad as they are a great PL team.
Love some of the players you have already, and Tunnicliffe could turn out a great player for you.

I hope this comes out as good as youre Liverpool save, but even if not it will still be great!

Good luck James, will be following!
Well you have to say. Huddersfield are not that good at having consistency in the championship.

However, I think it's still safe to say with the Huddersfield young squad, pottentially they can be an amazing team. Anyways, with you in charge I'm pretty sure with the right first 11 results will pick up fast. :D
