Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When I load the database, Belgium and Netherlands are not playable.
In order for the pyramid to function, all of the clubs in the combined pyramid must be listed under the same nation -- in this case, Luxembourg. This means there are no playable leagues in either Belgium or Netherlands in this save. Those leagues (with the exception of amateur-tier clubs) have folded into the new BeneLiga pyramid.Q: How did you select the teams seeded into each league?
Teams were sorted based on recent performances, league position and financial power. While some teams in the 3rd and 4th tiers are overmatched, I worked to build a structure that felt realistic and not terribly lopsided. I took inspiration for initial placements from Moxley's FM20 Be/Ne mod.Q: What about legacy results from the Eredivisie and Jupiler Pro League?
Unfortunately, these results will not be visible except through team history (to my knowledge).Q: Ajax are really good.
Yes, Ajax are really good -- and they should be! If this league really existed, it's likely they would be at the top of it until new investment entered the league. Continue their dominance or challenge them from the lower leagues -- that's the point.Q: Will you continue to update this mod?
Yes, within reason. FM is my hobby, but I welcome feedback and edits to the mod to make it more stable and playable for many seasons.Changelog

Discussion: BeneLiga for FM21 (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg combined)

Thanks for all your work
if u rapair registration to euro cups (i.e. belgium players except club growns are not nation grown) your database would be perfect
Great job, much appreciated!
I guess it is because of FM club reputation sorting that some clubs ended 3 to 4 divisions higher or lower than real life.
Also a lot of lower league teams are without league in this file, a lower league structure would make this db even more great in my opinion.
I'll take a look on that, but my editing skills are not so great anymore...
I've switched the RWDM team for @daanvanderplas. I won't be adjusting leagues as I wasn't the one who originally did it and I don't have a strong opinion about the current config. Eventually it'll always be a difficult discussion where everyone might have a different view. If I do create a db file for the next FM I'll probably spend a ton of time finding a balanced config.
Either way, I've updated my files to be compatible with the latest db.
Links:
- BeneLiga
- BeneLiga with some expanded transfer preferences in line with majesticeternity mod.
Changelog:
- Verified editor files with 21.4.0 DB update
- Fixed end date for team registration rules that apply to the first two seasons and was overlapping with the one that starts in 2022. (8 players trained in Luxemburg between 15 and 23 changing to 15 and 21).
There is however an issue with the clubs, you've added the wrong RWDM to the league and also I have my considerations how well the clubs are sorted in the league, for example Racing Mechelen, who are put into a way higher division then in real life. WIth a little bit more care put to the clubs this database would be absolutely great!
Simulated a few seasons to check whether it would work out and noticed something about the transfers.. remarkable low player values are developing for the players, including the best players/prospects of the best clubs in the BeNeLiga.
Furthermore noticed minimal amount of transfers in the competition, whether it would be being forced to sell your best players to the top 5 leagues, or bringing in players from elsewhere.
Anybody noticed this as well, or tips how to alter this myself?
Thanks!!
I don't see anything strange at first glance but shoot me a PM and we'll see what I can do. I'm fine with Dutch, French or English if that helps.
Mate!
I love this mod!
I do have one remark..
On my current team (Standard Liege) there is an issue with the assistents from the 1st team, B-squad and youth squad.
There is an assistent however it doesnt show as an assistent.
He is categorized as a regular coach in the training.
Therefore i cant recruit a new assistent.
Bit hard to explain since english is not my native language but i hope you understand what im trying to explain?
- Dutch and Belgian referees were unfortunately still not assigned to leagues after explicitly doing so. I changed their nationality to Luxemburg and the pool is now used. Gives some more diversity to the games.
- I've adapted the squad registration windows so you don't get duplicate registration messages anymore. There was also a discrepancy with the closing of the summer transfer window.
- I've moved the summer transfer window to be in line with FIFA recommendations and the Dutch one. The summer transfer window now starts mid June and ends September 2nd.
- The default DB has some funky abbreviations of the team names that were annoying me during matches (VVV-Venlo being "VVV-Ve" for example). I went through all the teams in the leagues and updated them to what they abbreviations have been on TV broadcasts.
You can find the updated file here: https://www.fmscout.com/datas/users/beneligaupd_201981.fmf
Also, majesticeternity has shared some really cool database files. One of them is the Realistic Transfer preferences. As his updates to Belgium and the Netherlands wouldn't have much with this db I have combined and configured them to Luxemburg so there's more diversity compared to the default settings. The file below is the same as the one above with the changes to transfer preferences:

Yep! I think it was the "Daveincid's mods_improved market values_improved salaries and sponsors" mod which caused the conflict.
It's ok now!
On first glance this mod could be very interesting!
Cheers!
Hmmm... Might test it without other editor files.
Perhaps this could cause some conflict.
Woah, that's odd! In my save he's shown being worth 8,75M at the start of the season and 9 months later he's at 8,5M.
I've just loaded up a game, i'm really curious for this!
But what happened to the player values?
My best player (Zinho Vanheusden) is worth 225k
1. At the start of a save you get a message with the squad registration rules, the min and max sqd size is listed twice but does not affect the game further.
2. Squad registration messages can be displayed twice when the regular transfer period closes as there is a small domestic loan period that opens on the same day. I believe that should be fixed easily but it won't break anything.
I can confirm that every team still gets regens with the nationality from the country where the club is based in.
Thanks! It's my pleasure to help! I played a season with the file I uploaded and noticed that the cup finals weren't played in the stadiums I assigned. Unfortunately I tried other ways and nothing worked. I've enlarged the Luxemburg national stadium as that's the only approach I could get to work without having the finals being played on neutral grounds with a capacity of 1000. Given it is Luxemburg I don't think it breaks the game much or even at all.
While I went down the rabbit hole I also did the following:
- Found a fix for the language settings, Dutch is now the dominant language
- Found a way for the coefficient changes to actually go through after I changed them in the editor. It's now at 51,6.
- Updated the media sources so that the Dutch and Belgian now actually show up for the leagues. Also added Sporza and AD to add some differentiation.
- Updated the Dutch and Belgian referees so that they actually are defaulted to the leagues you created. (Damn, that was tedious work..)
- There were no awards so I've merged the Dutch and Belgian ones and now there are national awards as well as awards for the top 3 leagues.
Pretty happy with how it looks right now. Just hope I can find a way to fix that glitch in the Squad Selection Rules message you get when you start a save. Here's my uploaded file: https://www.fmscout.com/datas/users/beneliga_201981.fmf
