Overview

Sharing a Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg combined pyramid for FM21.

This mod gives you a chance to play through the proposed league merger that has been discussed for several years in Europe.

Key database features:

  • Moved all professional and majority of semi-professional clubs in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg to Luxembourg under new league "BeneLiga"
  • Created a FA Cup equivalent, League trophy and Super Cup competition
  • Edited league coefficient data to improve CL Qualification
  • Improved prize money to help lower league climb and reflect league's focus on financial competition with other major leagues in Europe

How to Install

1. Extract the contents of the .zip file
2. Copy Benelux.fmf to Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2021/editor data/
NOTE: You may have to create the editor data folder if it doesn't already exist.
3. If you want to install the custom logos, move the content of the graphics folder to your own graphics folder at Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2021/graphics/

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When I load the database, Belgium and Netherlands are not playable.
In order for the pyramid to function, all of the clubs in the combined pyramid must be listed under the same nation -- in this case, Luxembourg. This means there are no playable leagues in either Belgium or Netherlands in this save. Those leagues (with the exception of amateur-tier clubs) have folded into the new BeneLiga pyramid.
Q: How did you select the teams seeded into each league?
Teams were sorted based on recent performances, league position and financial power. While some teams in the 3rd and 4th tiers are overmatched, I worked to build a structure that felt realistic and not terribly lopsided. I took inspiration for initial placements from Moxley's FM20 Be/Ne mod.
Q: What about legacy results from the Eredivisie and Jupiler Pro League?
Unfortunately, these results will not be visible except through team history (to my knowledge).
Q: Ajax are really good.
Yes, Ajax are really good -- and they should be! If this league really existed, it's likely they would be at the top of it until new investment entered the league. Continue their dominance or challenge them from the lower leagues -- that's the point.
Q: Will you continue to update this mod?
Yes, within reason. FM is my hobby, but I welcome feedback and edits to the mod to make it more stable and playable for many seasons.

    MinusFifteen:
Does it clash with other graphics packs?
If you have another pack that contains league graphics, that may be the issue. For me, it took saving the save file, closing FM21 and reopening it after reloading the skin a couple of times and it worked.

This might be me being dumb, but I can't seem to get the graphics pack to work for whatever reason. Does it clash with other graphics packs? I've tried it where you've suggested it be places, as well as attempting to incorporate it within my graphics pack for all the other leagues but I can't seem to get it to work. Any advice?

This is great stuff! Thank you!
I've always wondered if this would be possible.
I tried it out for a couple of days and then I dove into the editor to figure out a couple of things. Several days later and I've made some adjustments that you might like. Many of these are based on the Belgian model, BeneLiga studies (Deloitte) and personal experience.

    - Added TV Dates to first 3 divs so that the games are spread out over the weekend more like the real model.
    - Added TV money up to 300M to be spread across div 1 and 2. Some trickles down to div 3.
    - Starting div 3 there are 24 teams and thus 46 games. The default scheduling forced the games that wouldn't fit into every week available to all the first wednesdays. This meant that for the first ~8 weeks all the teams would be playing atleast 2 games a week. I have spread them across the season.
    - I moved cup games to Tuesdays and Wednesdays until the last round. The last round is played on Neutral ground, Heizel, Johan Cruijff Arena and De Kuip.
    - VAR has been added to the highest division
    - Some minor Stadium requirements were added with a disparation period
    - The homegrown requirements could have been an issue EU competitions. I found a way in the editor to mark Belgian and Dutch nationalities to be the same as Luxemburg. This means that players trained in either of those countries before 21 should count for the homegrown squad registration requirement.
    - I have added squad registration requirements to all division as well. The first 3 leagues are close to the Belgian standard meaning that it is already close for EU competitions. There is a grace period configured in the first 2 years to count for ages up to 23 for the national divisions. After that the requirements are identical to EU competitions.
    - As I wasn't able to change the calendar for the reserves and U18 leagues I have added extra leagues and lowered the amount of teams per division to 20. This way there's only one game a week.
    - Reputation has been increased so the highest div is ranked 6th in Europe. This would be in line with the Euro coefficients placing the league as 6th with 51,6 pts.
    - Transfer window adjusted so it will allow to sign emergency GKs anytime as well as free agents.
Some things that I can't figure out however:

    - I can't seem to change the euro coefficients to a total 51,6 in the last years. Once I adjust them in the editor it resets after running the tests.
    - The squad registration rules message that is showed when you start a new save list min sqd size twice and another max sqd size of -1 is shown as well. I can't seem to find where that would be set in the editor.
    - I've set Dutch language to 100% for Luxemburg in the hope it would replace it as the default language but that doesn't seem to be the case. Setting it in the ingame editor to 100% does do that.

If you want to have a look I've uploaded it to my profile, I hope you can access it this way: https://www.fmscout.com/datas/users/beneenhanced_201981.fmf

Did you start a new career ?. You should see database if you start a new career. Then you click on Database and then you should see Benelux.

    @Timp

When you the .fmf file, there should be an option in "advanced setup" to select Luxembourg as the country. You will not be able to start the game with Belgium or Netherlands as playable, but all teams from those countries will be available after you start the game in Luxembourg.
