After finishing the season, I went back to the save where I was playing Barcelona again to see how different it would be if I played it again. I did it twice. In both cases they dominated, but we weren’t dominated as much as I would have expected when you compare the squads. I luckily won one of them.

This is the squad view in Gscout.

I called it Presa Canario, like the Spanish dog breed. I had this type of dog, and they are known for their guarding ability. It fits perfectly, as this is what the tactic is about – defensive stability.

Therefore, I have decided to test it by going on holiday with teams like Liverpool, Oxford, Burton Albion, Heidenheim and Levante.
Disclaimer:
The tests are numbered from 2–6, as the first one was excluded because I accidentally left two teams with default tactics.
I have run five tests, plus a play test with Talavera.
For consistency, tests were carried out with Liverpool, and the rest were done with teams in a relegation battle, as I wanted to see how varied the data would look.

I’m purposely excluding Liverpool’s cup results, as that data is not consistent. What I mean by that is if Liverpool won three cups in simulation two, they would need to win the same in the next simulation for it to be comparable. As I always say, cup wins are random and I have no intention of manipulating data.
I mostly play on Positive, but with a better team I can switch to Attacking.
The right wing-back covers the space when the inside forward cuts in, so if you swap positions on the opposite sides, that wing-back role has to be adjusted as well.
Testing results in that order as I accidentally swap 5 and 6 test.
1 sim 2 Presa Canario Positive mentality
2 sim 3 Presa Canario Attacking mentality
3 sim 4 Presa Canario Positive mentality
4 sim 6 Presa Canario Positive mentality
5 sim 5 Presa Canario Attacking mentality

Game Status from testing.

I have been using the tactics in La Liga and they have given me mixed results. The lack of tactical familiarity due to the high number of new players was probably at fault, as well as the overall quality of the players I have in the squad, since we have just been promoted to the league.
However, the four losses against big teams showed that we were too deep in defense. It put the team under a lot of pressure, and big teams can usually find a way through.
In December I only won six matches, drew one and lost nine. So I decided to make adjustments to the play and came up with this.
This version is much more counter-oriented. The switch was made in December. It resulted in winning 13 matches, drawing five and losing four.
I was able to win the Copa del Rey as all the big teams crashed out in the early stages, and the final was against Espanyol.
I have uploaded the new version of the tactics as well.
