Formation & Player Roles
This system is built on tactical fluidity. It is a 3-3-1-3 in possession, but a 5-1-3-1 when defending.Goalkeeper:
Sweeper Keeper (Support): Your keeper is the first line of attack, essential for starting build-up play from the back.
Defense (Back Three):
Two Ball Playing Defenders (Defend): On the left and right sides of the back three. They must be comfortable on the ball and capable of carrying it forward to join the midfield.
One Libero (Support): In the central position, the Libero steps into the midfield when in possession to create a numerical advantage and a passing option.
Midfield (Front Three):
Two Wing Backs (Attack): These players are crucial. They provide the width and a constant attacking threat, running past the inverted wingers to get into dangerous positions.
One Deep-Lying Playmaker (Defend): The brain of the midfield. This player stays central to protect the defense and distribute the ball, setting the tempo for the attack.
Attacking Midfield (Central):
One Trequartista (Attack): A free-roaming player who links the midfield and attack. The Trequartista looks for space between the lines to receive the ball and create chances for the strikers.
Attack (Front Three):
Two Inverted Wingers (Attack): On the left and right wings. They cut inside, creating space for the Wing Backs to overlap and moving into goalscoring positions themselves.
One False Nine (Support): The central striker drops deep, pulling a defender out of position to open up space for the other two attackers to run into.
Team Instructions
In Possession:
Shorter Passing & Higher Tempo: Keep the ball moving quickly and precisely to disorganize the opponent.
Pass into Space: Encourages players to play creative through balls to unlock the defense.
Play Out of Defense: Your team builds from the back and avoids long balls.
Hit Early Crosses: Your inverted wingers will look for the runners coming in.
Overlap Left & Overlap Right: This is key. The inverted wingers move inside, creating space for the Wing Backs to run into.
In Transition:
Counter-Press: Instantly apply pressure to win the ball back after losing it.
Counter: When the ball is won, the team looks to attack quickly.
Distribute to Centre Backs & Take Quick Throws: This ensures the build-up is fast and controlled from the back.
Out of Possession:
Much Higher Defensive Line: Pushes the defensive line high up the pitch to compress the space.
High Pressing: The team will apply aggressive pressure from the very front.
Tighter Marking: Stay close to opponents to reduce their passing options.
Prevent Short GK Distribution: Stops the opposition from building from the back.
Stay on Feet: Prevents unnecessary fouls and cards.
Pressing Traps on Flanks & Prevent Crosses: Funnels the opponent wide, then closes them down using the sideline as an extra defender.
