This is a real challenge as manager of Man Utd. Decreased economy, wage budget, transfer budget, big changes in squad, etc. Can you succeed?

FM 2016 Fantasy Scenarios - The Manchester United Challenge FM16

I have followed Man United for many years but has recently lost some interest in what has happened with the club ever since the Glazers entry. Today I do not recognize anything anymore.

Never mind. I always start playing with Man United on all new FM but it's not so exciting after a few seasons when I won everything and has £200 000 000 in transfer budget. I sometimes think back on old times before United was a major power in football and before the various imports over the world took over the Premier League. (I am a big fan of own talents and domestic players) I have thus made an editor database that will provide a real challenge as manager of Man United. It should of course be doable, but challenging.

The database I have is from about 14/6 2016, when Bailey was in the United squad and Newcastle play Skybet 1 and so on.

Before the season, the club is tipped to come in 17th place. I have as solicitation strategy to focus on the British players. Have yourself bought Will Hughes, Rico, Henry, Louis Reed at the start of the season.

In January window I managed to tie up Nathan Redmond and Callum Chambers. (Got to increased wage budget at the request of the Board). I myself is in fourth place in February, 2016.

Started with 4-2-3-1 but was beaten away from home, and the "bigger" teams. So I changed to a 4-1-2-3 and it went better. Have had some luck and no major victories, but it is great fun.

As for selected leagues did the following:

England (PL, Skybet 1 and 2)
Scotland (all leagues)
Northern Ireland (all leagues)
Ireland (all leagues)

Show only

My best starting XI first season (After january)

Chambers, Jones, Smalling, Shaw
Powell Hughes
Young Lingard

The following have been made:

Club Adjustments
-The club Is no longer holding company
-The club is owned by supporters
-Arena Capacity has been reduced to old 68,000
-Youth -and training grounds has worsened slightly
-Economy has been reduced significantly and the balance is approximately £+30 million at start
-Transfer budget Is significantly reduced to about £16 million.
-Wage budget Is approximately £1,2 million per week and almost completely filled with the existing squad
-All Debts have been erased
-Sponsor deals has been sharply reduced but still on par with the smaller clubs
-Clubs Reputation is only three stars

Adjustments in squad

Any player who has been removed from the squad have been placed in other PL clubs. (Middleteam and below)

  • Valdes
  • Sergio Romero
  • de Gea
  • Daley Blind
  • Marcos Rojo
  • Darmian
  • Antonio Valencia
  • Schweinsteiger
  • Schneiderlin
  • Depay
  • Martial
  • Rooney
  • Measure
  • Januzaj
  • Herrera
All above players have moved to other clubs. Thus, the following "first-team players" remain in the club.

  • Sam Johnstone
  • Luke Shaw
  • Chris Smalling
  • Phil Jones
  • Varela
  • Carrick
  • Nick Powell
  • Ashley Young
  • Jesse Lingard
  • James Wilson
  • Marcus Rashford
  • Paddy McNair
  • Bailey (remained in the squad by mistake and was sold for £5 million in January)

Tips on potentially good young players in the current squad U18 / U21:
  • Callum Gribbin
  • Andreas Pereira
  • Timothy JUKO-Mensah
  • Paddy McNair
  • Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
  • Ro Shaun Williams
