I used this tactic with Man Utd and ended up getting relegated. Any idea what I can do to improve, as I really like the tactic

Have been using this tactic for West Brom 5th season in about halfway through the season. It has really improved results and is very solid. The team is clearly punching above weight using I recommend using thanks GYR

@mrossonero all good mate and I do believe it is part of the fix as they found a few odd things.

Got a tactic dropping in 22min but the next one should be the one you are waiting for 👀😂 it's done just not recorded

@GYRFM Thank you for your reply buddy. And I should have been more clear my bad I am sorry. What I meant (and this is just me being picky I guess) when I switch mentality from balanced to positive and you go to training it recommends Control possession and when board evaluates you they say they like your CP style that is what I meant. But I guess yesterday's beta update fixed that. Sorry for confusion.
And can't wait to test your 4-2-4 I had a lot of success with your SWANSALONA. Thanks for the work you do cheers.

@mrossonero im a bit confused as the fm meta has been gegen press for years so it doesnt matter what style it says at the top or in training if you are full throttle on the press you have made it a gegen press style.

As for the 442, while I like the formation tbh most people just love the 4231 and 433 variants but I am working on a 424 now and will def do a 442. Got a full year so I will try everything at some point

@GYRFM or anyone. Quick question for you and or everyone here. Have you or any one of you guys managed to create successful Gegenpress tactic? Every time I try and create it changes my training to Control Possession as soon as I switch mentality to positive from balanced? Is this how it is in the game? Also have you guys managed to recreate or make some good old 4-4-2 formation that worked good? Thank you

@GYRFM I will make sure to keep you informed about the results from long play sessions with your tactics. Thank you again :)

@DiMarc10 No all good mate I am happy to discuss them and thanks again for checking them all out.

It's not taking up my time I respond to everyone on here, twitter, discord, patreon, everything haha

No issue with you asking the questions I always say there is no perfect tactic and never claim them to be. If you could win the prem season one with any team then the game would be in serious trouble which is why I was happy with how Palace got on.

There will be moments and formations that cause whatever tactic I make problems absolutely you wont win 100% of your games that would be silly so appreciate you feeding it all back.

Would love to know what formations caused the problems tbh I find that stuff interesting and fm has stripped back alot of the fun data.

When I put out a tactic main aim is to help people overachieve and based on the feedback I get that is working but I love the challenge of making them better. If you do want to chat on discord drop me a message, I play test them but not multiple seasons so you will have more in game time on them than me and would love to hear about it.

Thanks again and glad your save is going well

    Hey @GYRFM

I’ve been using your tactics for a long time, and my favorite by far has been DYNAMITE – with just a few small tweaks, it was almost perfect. I’ll take your suggestions on board and give your tactic a proper run with my team. To answer your question, I’m in my 3rd season with Manchester United. I played the previous two seasons with DYNAMITE, but now I feel it’s time for a change. That’s why I’m reviewing your tactics, which I consider one of the most reliable. With SWANSALONA, I conceded quite a few goals behind the defense, and Deadpool left too much space on the wings. By the way, I don’t want to be misunderstood – I’m not saying your tactics don’t work or aren’t effective. I was just trying to find the setup that works best for my team, and I decided that the best way to do that was to talk to you. That’s all I’ve done. I’ve decided to patiently revisit your tactic and continue testing it according to your recommendations. I don’t want to take up any more of your time on Discord, so I really appreciate your kindness and support.

@dimarc10 strange you are finding this but they are still all very successful across levels and leagues. No tactic is perfect but the tests myself and others have done show that overall the results are really good which has been great.

In my tips video I show how to manage the tempo issue as it isn't something I can cover on every video. Basically reducing squad training load allows teams to play the OP tempo and win games while not negatively impacting player growth.

I wouldnt recommend adjusting the tactic with things like pressing DMs tho as you suggested. Gaps are fine on certain tactics Crystal Palace themselves in real life leave gaps just not in dangerous areas so the gap in that area is not a danger and keeping players in their current roles allows the team to stay solid but win the ball before it gets to areas of danger.

Midfield and third-zone gaps are recurring in both phases of play- Gaps are fine this isnt possession based or positional play its OP intense attack football

Central defensive midfield adjustments can partially resolve third-zone gaps but may create central vulnerabilities.--- dont adjust roles as the gaps are not danger gaps

Wing transitions and inside-cutting players exploit coverage weaknesses.-- A player cutting in from the wing usually would move into the dm area and that player then picks them up leaving the fb wide

High tempo increases ball losses and strain on squad rotation.--- training and sub management

Tactical implementation often requires structural revisions to maintain stability--- no adjustments needed as impacts the way the tactic is supposed to play and how the roles combine. everything is picked to work off each other.

If you want me to review the save send it over on discord but thanks again for checking this one out.

happy to discuss more on discord mate but would love to see this save, who are you managing?

Appreciate you becoming a new scout member today to send this feedback over and the support over the years you have been using my tactics.

@GYRFM Thank you for your response.

I would like to provide feedback regarding the on-field zoning and area distribution in the tactics. The positional data indicate that, both in possession and out of possession, there are recurring gaps in the midfield and the third zone. Adjusting the central midfielders as pressing defensive midfielders partially mitigates the third-zone gaps; however, it often leaves exploitable spaces in the central area, allowing the opponent to progress quickly through the midfield. Additionally, the tactic shows vulnerability to fast transitions down the wings, and players cutting inside frequently end up in one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper due to insufficient coverage in those zones. Attempts to address these weaknesses tend to alter the overall tactical shape significantly.

Tempo management also presents a challenge. Implementing these tactics results in a consistently high tempo, which complicates squad rotation and increases the risk of injuries over the course of the season. Furthermore, in high-tempo, attack-oriented phases, the team experiences a higher frequency of ball losses. These factors reduce the effectiveness of the tactic as a “plug-and-play” solution, as significant adjustments are often required when loading it.

    Summary / Key Observations:

Midfield and third-zone gaps are recurring in both phases of play.

Central defensive midfield adjustments can partially resolve third-zone gaps but may create central vulnerabilities.

Wing transitions and inside-cutting players exploit coverage weaknesses.

High tempo increases ball losses and strain on squad rotation.

Tactical implementation often requires structural revisions to maintain stability.

    @dimarc10 appreciate the feedback.

I play with the tactics so havent seen this so would be really interested to discuss it more and maybe take a look at one of your saves.

The defence setup on this does leave a gap but I found it makes them more defence solid but what your seeing could be the transition between in possession and out.

I am guessing the results are fine its just your seeing this pattern of play?

Possession numbers wise when playing and holiday testing i havent seen an issue as I show in the videos. Drop me a message on discord as id want to dive into it.

Hello, I’ve been using your FM24 and FM26 tactics for a long time, and I appreciate the effort you’ve put into them. However, there’s something I’m curious about. In your recent tactics, there are a lot of positional gaps — when the opponent has the ball, there’s a big empty space in central midfield, and when we have the ball, there’s a lack of presence in advanced areas. This leads to frequent turnovers, and because the opponent keeps the ball so much, it causes us to concede due to momentum.

Also, your tactics require extremely high tempo (all of them), which creates serious rotation problems as the season progresses, and constantly playing at such a high tempo leads to many injuries.

I kindly ask that you take these points into consideration when creating your tactics, at least for your future work.

    Regards.
    🙏
