In today’s Football Manager 2026 tactic, I recreate the infamous José Bordalás 4-4-2 anti-football tactic inside FM26 to see if defensive football can dominate modern saves.

Known for his aggressive pressing, low block structure, compact defensive lines, tactical fouls, and direct attacking transitions, Bordalás-ball has frustrated La Liga teams for years.

Long live Otto Rehhagel and his 4-5-1 (basic formation that frequently mutated into a 5-4-1 or even a 1-4-4-1) which won the Euro 2004. "Anti-football" is a term coined by people who like purely offensive football.

I'm assuming this is based on his 442 from last season since they mostly play 532 this year. Out of all the teams in La Liga, no team won the ball higher up the pitch on average except Barcelona, so your pressing in this tactic actually seem a bit conservative. Getafes wingers cut inside a lot, so default PI is the wrong move here. I also think the tempo should be higher, Getafe don't spend a lot of time on the ball unless they are trying to waste time. There's also several minor things like how they take a lot of longshots etc, but overall it looks like a Bordalas tactic.
