2014-05-04 15:51#173189 Stuart_says : Just read this story in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. So much it has inspired me to do a similar save of my own. Will be interesting as I usually go with International or Professional experience as the team I support in real life is a team that yo-yos between Championship (mainly) and Premier League. Maybe I'll even write a story about it.

I am pleasantly surprised that this story is starting to create some interest. Thanks for taking the time to read it.

Carroll Expresses Discontent

Thomas Carroll has once again expressed taken his discontent to the media at not having his opinions listened to by the Newcastle United management. Last season Carroll expressed concerns in the media that he felt the club were making too many signings which meant that his position in the team was under threat. Carroll made enemies within the club by stating to the media last season that he was ”much better” than the players the club’s management were bringing in and he recommended that ”they should take a harder look at players currently at the club than at other club’s.” As a result of this outburst was that Carroll was forced by the then manager Tony Pullis, to train with the reserves and fined two weeks wages. Pullis only commented on the outburst by stating that ”Thomas should have spoken to the management behind closed doors instead of going to a journalist who cannot help him with his situation.”

Carroll has once again gone to the media to express concerns that the club’s new management, mainly new manager James Gallagher, has failed to listen to him and instead have continued a ”spending spree” and brought in player after player. You can understand Carroll’s concerns; Gallagher has brought in five new players with four of them preferring to play in midfield positons which is also Carroll’s preference. Despite the new player’s being brought in, Gallagher has tried to patch things up with Carroll by starting him instead of his new signings, much to the disappointment of the Toon Army. However, a few poor performances and an apparent lack of commitment appears to have made James Gallagher reverse this decision and instead bring in Gael Bigirimana (a target for Liverpool FC). This decisions has been justified with him playing a vital role in some goals this season.

James Gallagher, the Newcastle manager, has taken the same stance as Pullis did with him stating in a recent press conference that he will be ”sitting down with Thomas in the next few days to try and resolve his unhappiness at the club as he still has a part to play this season at Newcastle United. However, if things don’t improve we will take the same action that Tony did last season if Thomas continues to go to the media to complain about game time and the running of the club.”
He's a really good player with a really bad attitude..

That is frustrating is that he is pissed off from when Tony Pullis was in charge and not even given me a chance. I bet I could easily mutually terminate his contract but there is no point as he seems to have been told he can leave on a free transfer at the end of the season...I didn't make that decision!

Haha so the start wasn't as inspiring as I had hoped! :)

October: Continued Progress...

This month is definitely going to be one of the easier ones that we encounter this season. However, it did contain one of the most important, if not the most important match, for fans of Newcastle United. That match came against Sunderland. The match against Sunderland, whether it is home or away will be the one that all United and Sunderland fans will look out for when the footballing calendar gets released at the beginning of the season. Despite me not being a United fan in the real world, I did look for it on the calendar in game to see where it fell. I basically wanted to know if the squad would have time to adjust to my style of play before coming up against the club’s biggest and most fierce rivals. It was essential that we won the game and that’s exactly what we did. Our player of the month, Jerome Sinclair, made his mark on the game but it did take a long time for it to come. The game was littered with cards for the Sunderland team with three players getting yellow cards and Oliver Norwood receiving a red card late on in the second half. My side took the advantage of being one player up and Sinclair bagged himself a brace in the 85th and 93rd minute to give me my first Tyneside derby win. I hope that it is the first of many.

I explained in my last update (I think) that I am determined to stop the drought of silverware that the club is currently going through. They have gone years in the real world without a trophy and even longer in game. Despite us being at the top of the league I cannot see us maintain the great start to the season due to the squad lacking any depth. I have a number of players who are wanting out of the club as they aren’t getting any game time and the transfer budget is lacking so the likely hood of signings in January is minimal. I can however see us going far in the domestic cup competitions. The one that I would like to win is the Capital One Cup as it would give us a chance to play in the Europa League next season. I think this is a definite possibility as the major clubs will be making the European
competitions and league title their priority. This could really give us an advantage and one that I expect us to utilise. I will continue to give the younger players game time but I will not making any drastic changes that will be hinder our chances of getting the club to Wembley for the first time in many a year.

It was great to receive the manager of the month award and is one that I am proud of. However, it wasn’t the most difficult of months and I am expecting much tougher challenges as the season goes on. I hope that it isn’t the only award that the club receive this season and I am optimistic of my chances of getting another manager of the month award when we come up against the bigger clubs.

Player of the Month – Jerome Sinclair

Manager of the Month

It's brilliant, it's spectacular, it's an unbeaten month with a 1st place spot!!
Beasting through the league mate!
A great month yet again :)
AaronHJFT96:It is indeed. I really hope we can keep it up, although it is going to be very difficult!

NVDThair:We are making good progress but there is still a long way to go.

Justice:It was a great month with everything going according to plan. I do hope we can make that top spot our own!

November: No Regrets...

After a somewhat easier month in October, I was expecting this one to bring much tougher challengers, even from my former employers Notts County who were doing ok further down the table. I have no regrets whatsoever in regards to my decision to leave Notts County. I had managed to get the club to the top tier of English football in three seasons after battling in League One’s relegation zone for a chunk of my first season at the club. I felt that it was going to take a different manager to come in to take them further than I did in my first season, although, I did manage to guide them to just below the European spots. The club since have employed Malky Mackay and have made little changes to the playing personnel which I am happy about as I left them in a very good position on that front. I think I was more determined to win the match against County than I was the one against Sunderland. The win against Sunderland was for the fans and the one against County was a personal achievement for me. It was a confident performance that stood us in good stead for the remainder of the month.

Despite writing this update a few days after actually playing the month of November, I am still in awe that we managed to get seven points from three of the biggest clubs in English football. Liverpool are my club and always have been. I love to see them do well in game but I am glad on this occasion that they didn’t turn up to play. My lads dominated possession and had a significant more number of shots on goal which meant we fully deserved the two goals that we got. I was even happier for Suso who came back to haunt his former club and make them wish they had given him more game time. The match against Chelsea was a much tighter affair with me getting one over on Jose Mourinho on the tactics front with me adopting a totally different approach to that I used against Liverpool. It allowed his side plenty of shots on goal but Krul stood up to the challenge and he was able to set off us on a counter attack which led to the inform Sinclair grabbing another goal for the season. He was fuming as always and suggested that the club are over-achieving, which we are, but I didn’t let him know that I thought that.

The match against City was a great one to watch. Due to the lack of quality players at the club, I had to make a number of changes which saw Anita being brought back into the squad. His role was simple; he simply had to break up the play and get the ball passed onto the more creative players such as Grealish and Ismail who could set up the chances. At the end of the game, we came away with one more shot than City but a lot less possession. My tactics meant that the lads didn’t have much of the ball at their feet but instead relied on breaking up the City attack and counter attacking when the opportunity presented itself. Another fantastic result which showed the rest of the league that we can compete against the bigger clubs and that we definitely are not pushovers.

Player of the Month – Tim Krul

Manager of the Month

Holy shit...The fixture list was not kind at all but well done for pulling through so well and beating your former club!
You certainly like teams that play in black and white stripes - Grimsby Town, Notts County, Newcastle United.

After your results this month, surely you must now be favourites to win the Premier League.

Congratulations on your great start to the season!
What a boss of a player Krul is.. Must be hating the G.D. more now than ever, no?
