Carroll Expresses Discontent
Thomas Carroll has once again expressed taken his discontent to the media at not having his opinions listened to by the Newcastle United management. Last season Carroll expressed concerns in the media that he felt the club were making too many signings which meant that his position in the team was under threat. Carroll made enemies within the club by stating to the media last season that he was
”much better” than the players the club’s management were bringing in and he recommended that
”they should take a harder look at players currently at the club than at other club’s.” As a result of this outburst was that Carroll was forced by the then manager Tony Pullis, to train with the reserves and fined two weeks wages. Pullis only commented on the outburst by stating that
”Thomas should have spoken to the management behind closed doors instead of going to a journalist who cannot help him with his situation.”
Carroll has once again gone to the media to express concerns that the club’s new management, mainly new manager James Gallagher, has failed to listen to him and instead have continued a
”spending spree” and brought in player after player. You can understand Carroll’s concerns; Gallagher has brought in five new players with four of them preferring to play in midfield positons which is also Carroll’s preference. Despite the new player’s being brought in, Gallagher has tried to patch things up with Carroll by starting him instead of his new signings, much to the disappointment of the Toon Army. However, a few poor performances and an apparent lack of commitment appears to have made James Gallagher reverse this decision and instead bring in Gael Bigirimana (a target for Liverpool FC). This decisions has been justified with him playing a vital role in some goals this season.
James Gallagher, the Newcastle manager, has taken the same stance as Pullis did with him stating in a recent press conference that he will be
”sitting down with Thomas in the next few days to try and resolve his unhappiness at the club as he still has a part to play this season at Newcastle United. However, if things don’t improve we will take the same action that Tony did last season if Thomas continues to go to the media to complain about game time and the running of the club.”
