Great story mate, got me through the working day;) Ever tried an online game? Think you should it would make a good read and the online games adds something else to the football manager experience
Absolutely loving the story, keep it up!
AaronHJFT96:Well I am glad you have taken the time out to catch up with the story and you have enjoyed it. I am sure I can get some more updates written up shortly!

Connor Golabek:Thank you for taking the time out to read it all. I am glad you enjoyed it.

Flapjack:Haha! I can’t say I ever have. I am finding it hard to put time into this story at the moment so an online game is out of the question unfortunately. Maybe one day.

dykie567:Thank you. I am glad you’re enjoying it.

December: Inconsitency...

This update isn’t going to be a long one for the simple fact that it has been an age since I played this month. As you can see from the results, it was a month of mixed fortunes. We never seemed to hit the ground running and we found it extremely difficult to hit any kind of form that would have seen us steer even further away from the bottom half of the table. Instead it was a month where no player but in any substantial effort but instead they all just appeared to be shattered.

From what I can already tell from this season is that we are going to need investment potentially in January, if not, then definitely in the summer. At the moment I have managed to create a defence which are all of similar age, similar quality and similar potential. They do play extremely well together and seemed to have formed a good understanding. What I am more excited about is the future with these particular lads. They could become one of the strongest defences in the Premier League by my reckoning. The midfield is starting to take shape with me still wanting to make some more additions to the central midfield positions with me looking to introduce a playmaker; a player that will create many a chance for our strikers. Speaking of strikers, I feel this is the area needing the most work. Gozie Ugwu has put in a number of good performances since he joined the club. Samed Yesil simply hasn’t played to his potential and Karim Rossi isn’t Premier League quality. This means that despite many a chance being created, our front men aren’t putting the chances away on a regular basis. Our ethos at the minute should be to try and out score any opponent, no matter the calibre.

Thank you for taking the time out to read the story. The next two updates are written so they may just be posted today!
Just as you said an inconsistent month but not the worst.
Hopefully you do manage to bring in some good players during the January window who can help you go on a good run of form!

It was extremely inconsistent. I am hoping that the players step up and start to put in good performances to get us on some sort of positive run.

January:A Big Money Signing

Heading into this month, it was essential that we came away with maximum points from every game apart from the obvious three; we simply at present don’t have the quality to beat the likes of United, Chelsea and City and I don’t think we will for a few seasons yet. However, we have taken one big step towards being able to compete against the likes of the big teams as we seem to be able to attract players of a high calibre and quality. Yaya Toure is a sensational purchase, especially for the very reasonable price of £82k! Yes he is 35 years old but he has bags of experience that can add a lot of quality to our central midfield, which was an area that I felt we needed to improve in this January transfer window. Toure simply won’t be able to play game after game, due to his age, but instead can be seen as a reliable back up player, especially if we need to see out the last few minutes of a game that we are narrowly winning. He will also be able to guide the younger players in the squad and help them improve. Come the end of the season when the younger players return from loan, I will be looking for him to tutor some of them. He has a lot of experience that he can share with the younger players, which in turn should help their development. I am a tad pessimistic but that is simply down to me never seeing any benefits of any tutoring taking place on this game.

In my last update I slated the striking options that we possess. Ugwu was described as inconsistent (yes I know he is my player of the month, but he did do well!) and Yesil hadn’t lived up to his potential, while Rossi simply isn’t good enough for the Premier League. I have therefore taken the decision to bring in reinforcements in the form of Shaquile Coulthirst. This is a player I was interested in signing from Brentford last season, but they weren’t willing to sell. However, the offer of £130k must have been too tempting as they accepted and he signed within a couple of days. Since signing he has already scored four goals, including a hat trick against a team in the month of February. Hopefully him and Ugwu can strike up a partnership, which means I won’t have to rely on Rossi and Yesil to contribute goals, which they seem incapable of doing at present.

Player of the Month – Gozie Ugwu

Great signing mate and decent month!
Unlucky about the losses but those teams are a class above you and they were extremely difficult games.

I am quite excited to see Toure in action! The teams were lost too were expected so I'm not too disheartened by them and neither are the players. Bring on the next month!

February: Change in Expectations

This month was a fantastic month, which resulted in a few interesting events taking place. Firstly, the board of directors decided to offer me the chance to change the expectations they had of me in terms of final league position. At the beginning of the season I decided to play it safe and set the expectations to avoiding relegation. This seemed like a reasonable expectation for a club playing for the first time in the big league for a very long time and for a team that doesn’t necessarily possess Premier League quality players throughout the squad. However, after a few decent performances this month, the board allowed me the chance to change the expectations, which I chose to do. We are now expected to finish in a mid-table position which is a definite possibility. There was no increase in wage or transfer budget but this didn’t necessarily matter seen as the transfer window was closed. It is now down to us to make sure we match or better the revised expectations.

Another turn of events was the offer of three jobs during this month. The first came from South Korea and the national side’s job. The national side of the game has never interested me with you going a very long time without any matches being played. Therefore I rejected the offer, followed by rejecting the second national job offer of South Africa...they just don’t interest me. The third job offer came from Leicester City who are currently in a play-off position in the Championship. Their manager position came available when Chris Hughton was sacked despite doing a sterling job. I don’t understand why they thought I would leave a club, sat 10th in the Premier League in their first season, for a club in a lower division. The managing world can be a bit crazy sometimes!

On a final note, I mentioned in my last update the signing of Coulthirst and the fact he scored a hat trick. Well, it came against Spurs and it was a sensational performance that showed why I had decided to sign him. This single performance meant he fully deserves the player of the month award.

Player of the Month – Shaquile Coulthirst

Some good results there! The Spurs result really stands out!

The Spurs game is by far my favourite result of the season thus far. The fact that Coulthirst hasn't been with the club long yet he has settled in quickly enough to get his first hat trick for the club really will make this match stand come the end of the season.
Great work by Coulthirst, and he definitely earned that PoTM with that performance, away. What is more impressive is that he had barely joined your team, and looks like he can be very good!
