A good unbeaten start to the season which was always going to be important. However, the guy in the picture falling with "style" took my attention away!

Lovely to see The Red Card banner being put to use! A really nice story overall with fantastic updates. I just realised I haven't commented for ages, but have been reading, I promise! ;)

Do you plan to ever sell Doria? Great work, keep it up.

Seedorf's Diary: Working With The Youngsters

At Botafogo, youngsters are what the club is all about. We have one of the youngest squads in the league and I, and Oswaldo before me, loved to give the younger boys a game if they had performed well enough. If they're good enough.. age doesn't matter! Lots of youngsters come through the ranks every year here, and with our fantastic facilities we like to groom them into our system so they can produce another fine generation of players.

During me studying for my UEFA Pro License, I did some work with the youngsters at local Rio clubs Boavista and Nova Iguacu, and learnt that they have to be managed carefully. With young players comes young minds. Some hot prospects may have the talent to succeed, but the equally important question is do they have the attitude?

Determination and work rate are things you have to look for in youngsters. There is no point in signings players who definitely can play, but are the laziest players on the field and the worst team players. I want a team that can play together like brothers and work together for each other like brothers.

Doria is a big success story out of the youth academy. A tall, lanky defender, he has superb knowledge of the game and superb ability. He ticks all the boxes not only in terms or technical talent but mental attitude as well. But like I mentioned before, with young players comes young minds, and sometimes they will react differently to different scenarios and situations.

When Doria heard I rejected the offer from Benfica earlier in the week, he came into my office and asked me why. I told him he could do big things at Botafogo, and that we could qualify for the Copa Libertadores in at least two seasons.

While he seemed calm, I could tell that he was cut up about it. I need to manage this situation carefully in case any more interest unsettles him. What was encouraging was that Luiz Alberto came back with a training report notifying me Doria had shown great signs in training. Hopefully the transfer saga doesn't play on his mind, and he can focus on playing, because he is key to our aspirations!

Haha, anything for TRC ;)

Not really, no. If the the right offer comes in in a couple of years (20m at the least) then I will consider :P
I think Seedorf is a peadofile tbh ;)

Goals Flooding In Rio State Championship

Rio de Janeiro - Vasco da Gama kept up the pace with city rivals Fluminense in the Rio State Championship by recording a record breaking 9-0 win over minnows Friburguense on Sunday, meanwhile more goals were to be seen between Audax Rio and Bonsuccesso, with the former triumphing 8-2 in a highly one sided clash.

Vasco kept in touch with Fluminense with a resounding 9-0 win over minnows Friburguense. This broke the record as biggest win ever in the competition's history. Midfielder Wendel was the star of the show, the 31-year old bagged a hat-trick inside the opening twenty minutes.

On a very hot day, where the temperature reached 36 degrees celsius, Friburguense could not stop the onslaught, going into half time six goals down. It was a relatively quieter second half, but Jose Willames put the ball into his own net and youngsters Luan and Jomar each scored respectively to compile the misery.

Fans of the lower leagues were given a treat, too, as Audax Rio piled the pressure on Bonsucesso with an 8-2 annihilation. By half time the away side already had 7 goals to their name, the drubbing beginning in only the 4th minute through experienced striker Joao Paulo.

By half time things were looking not only bad for Bonsucesso but also extremely embarrassing as Audax Rio failed to take their foot off the gas, which was too much for the minnows of Rio to handle.

The Rio State has started brightly, but despite the goals being scored, many are being put off by the fact it is so one sided. One fan exclaiming that, "It's not healthy for the competition if there are 6 and 7 goal wins.

"We really need to preserve the game in the lower leagues, this is where the heart of the game can be found."
9-0 :OO Great stuff mate, love it :D

Seedorf Nervous Ahead Of Alvinegro Derby

Clarence Seedorf addressed a packed press conference earlier today at Botafogo's headquarters ahead of their massive Alvinegro Derby against arch rivals Vasco da Gama in the Rio State Championship in three days time.

Both sets of fans will be demanding wins after having relatively good starts to the season. Dorival Junior's side are confident they can continue their brilliant start to the campaign with a morale boosting win over their bitter rivals.

Seedorf, 37, on the other hand was nervous and said that these games were always tense affairs. "It's going to be close," he told globesporte. "Fans and players will be demanding wins, we have to deliver. Can we? I think we can.. will we? We'll just have to wait."

Vasco find themselves in second level on points with league leaders Fluminense while reigning champions Botafogo are in third with a game in hand on Flamengo, who are three points behind them.

Botafogo's home advantage makes them slight favourites but it is set to be one of the bes Rio derbies in years.
