Seedorf's Diary: What Really Happened

It was a normal morning at training. I did a few fitness exercises and then took a break to sort out some managerial business regarding transfers, finances and match preparation. I had had a busy transfer day yesterday, sending numerous players out on loan and rejecting offers for some of our key players.

I heard a knock on the door moments later, and ushered the guests to come in. I recognised one of them. It was Gabriel, who I had rejected an offer for from a big Portuguese club just yesterday. But the youngster was with a man wearing a suit. I assumed it was his agent, and how right I was.

It came as a shock, as the first thing Gabriel did was request an improved contract. I had looked at the finances before the meeting and I knew we'd have to focus on keeping our best players before handing out contracts to players like Gabriel.

At first the meeting was calm and civil, but Gabriel soon started to get annoyed. He told me he deserved one, despite not playing a minute of football this year. I explained my thoughts to him and he seemed to snap. He began to tell me that this was not fair.

Well I was not having any of it.

I used my authority and told him it was not in his job to be asking for a new contract, and that that was entirely up to me. This just made things worse. He snapped, and asked me why I had blocked the move in the first place. It was quite clear to see he'd never even play a game at Sporting, and I said this to him. Meanwhile, his agent just sat in his chair listening on our conversation.

Gabriel told me he'd had enough, and they left. I was considering blocking any move and forcing him to train with the goalkeepers, but I knew this would do nothing but harm for the whole team. I needed to offload him, and if he wanted to sit on the bench for the rest of his career.. so be it!
Sell him, for a good and juicy profit. My guess is around 3m+, and hopefully, you'll use that money wisely. Great update! Any rumors on other players?

That is the plan. Your guess is on target, but I'd like to bump it up to around 4m maybe even 5m, if anyone will go there.

Lots of my players have gone out on loan, and many clubs like Corinthians and Atletico Paranaense are tracking Lucas and Edilson, although I think the former is too good a player to let go. I won't be making any wonderkid signings, want to produce more of them :)

Gabriel Has Wealth Of Choice - Agent

The agent of Botafogo want-away midfielder Gabriel has revealed that his client has a number of clubs to choose from if he is to leave the Engenhão in the near future. Alessandro Marçal said that the player was interested in all moves on offer.

The 21 year old, who has been transfer listed at Rio de Janeiro heavyweights Botafogo for the past week, is reportedly interested in a number of moves abroad according to his agent. The player reportedly had a bust up with teammate and manager Clarence Seedorf when the Dutch legend rejected a transfer offer from Portuguese giants Sporting CP.

The player then forced himself onto the transfer list, and now has many clubs to choose from. Earlier this week the defensive midfielder was expected to join Spanish side Real Sociedad, but the move was blocked by Botafogo.

A bidding war for the Brazilian's services has come alive, and many clubs are vying for his signature. There is no doubt that Botafogo will be trying to get the best deal possible for themselves.

No comment has been made from the Brazilian club, who look to round off preseason in their last fixture against Argentine side All Boys. After three successful results so far, the club will now face their hardest test before facing arch rivals Flamengo in the Rio State Championship three days later.
Just sell the fool :P
He looks like an absolute retard in that picture, which can be understandable, now that I see him.

Seedorf's Diary: Preseason

Preseason is a time of preparation for every club. There are many factors that preseason friendlies play a part in later down the track in the regular season, including team cohesion, familiarity with tactics and overall morale.

I decided early on this season that the youngsters would get there chance in the team, and I had many lined up for the four friendlies we would be playing. We started off against Bangu AC and finished with Argentine outfit All Boys. I was fairly positive going into preseason and wanted to see how the boys fared.

Botafogo FR 2-0 Bangu AC

Exhibition Match | Rio de Jan. | Engenhao | Attendance: 3274

Goals: Clarence Seedorf 2, 35

Thoughts: We dominated Bangu for the whole match, and really the scoreboard wasn't a true reflection on our dominance as I felt we could've scored a lot more. I was glad to score two goals and I think that the team played well as a whole.

Botafogo FR 3-0 Sao Cristavao FR

Exhibition Match | Rio de Janeiro | Engenhao | Attendance: 3243

Goals: Hyuri [3]

Thoughts: Lots of youngsters played well in the last match against Bangu, so I decided to give them a shot against São Cristovão. I brought in Hyuri to replace Rafael Marques upfront because the latter had played lazily last match. Hyuri was the polar opposite of that, scoring all three goals in a dominant win.

Lots of players like Gegê, Jeferson Paulista and Cidinho performed well in the win and are shaping up for the first team in the upcoming Rio State Championship. The tactic seems to be working a treat, as I have wing backs attacking well, inside forwards cutting in excellently and a great midfield.

The 'Regista' and 'Deep Lying Forward' in the tactic are working well, too. Hyuri played out of his skin in that role in the match, today.

Tupi FC 0-4 Botafogo FR

Exhibition Match | Minas Geras | Tupi Home Ground | Attendance: 2015

Goals: Nicolas Lodeiro [2], Hyuri, Seedorf

Thoughts: Next we played Brazilian lower league side Tupi, and we came away victorious again. We still haven't had very tough opposition but this was a fanastic win. Nicolas Lodeiro showed his worth and got himself player of the match, which he rightly deserved.

All Boys 3-1 Botafogo FR

Exhibition Match | Buenos Aires | Islas Malvinas Stadium | Attendance: 15,525

Goals: None

All Boys of Argentina was our stern test before the Rio State, and they proved tough. I was a bit complacent and put a few too many youngsters in. Our defending from corners was shocking and Oscar de la Fuente was too good for us. Hopefully we can improve.
Man, the Gabriel mistake was understandable.. but this? This is the drop of semen that just was too much. Kthxbai

Rio State Championship Kicks Off

The 2013 Rio State Championship is set to kick off tonight, when FLuminense host Cabofriense in the opening fixture of the tournament. Another game that is set to draw a big crowd is Botafogo versus Flamengo in one of the biggest derbies in the country.

Other Rio heavyweights Vasco da Gama will play host to Nova Iguacu, and are firm favourites to take home the three points. In other games, Macae will pit their wits against Duque de Caxias.

But all eyes are firmly on the Derby da Rivalidade, where two of the countries biggest sides will play off in a match will surely open up views as to who is the early frontrunner for the competition.

Botafogo, last season's winners, have the eyes on the prize, with player-manager Clarence Seedorf galvanising his troops to do it again. "We are a team that knows who to play well, and win," he told depor.pe. "I think we may be slight underdogs, but my boys know we can win the championship.

"We think we can place ourselves as the best club in the city," the Dutch midfielder added. His counterpart, Dunga, played a more reserved role to the media, more or less playing up the rivalry.

"It is going to be a fantastic game," the former Brazil manager told the press. "We want to win, but Botafogo are stiff opposition. It's going to be tough."

Botafogo's home advantage makes them slight favourites for the fixture, but Flamengo could easily spring a surprise, according to club favourite Alemao, who is not new to these fixtures. "These games always had the most passion," the former Botafogo players said. "Players need to know what it means, it's a massive game."
