Nicklas Bendtner: 100 Club
Nicklas Bendtner has only scored once this season, against P.Ferreira
Nicklas Bendtner today became the next Arsenal player to reach the
100 club, his involvement in the Barclays Premier League match against West Ham United being his 100th appearance for the club.
The Danish striker signed for the Gunners in 2004 and has never looked back since. While also enjoying loan spells at multiple clubs, Birmingham City, Sunderland and Juventus all playing host to the 6'4'' star, North London has always been his home.
After signing for just £75k from FC Kobenhavn, Bendtner enjoyed notable seasons with Arsenal from 2007 to 2010, becoming a regular alongside the likes of Robin van Persie. Unfortunately, the striker failed to appear in the red shirt during the 2011/12 season or the 2012/13 season, due to links with loans across the seasons.
With much hope lost for the Dane, many expected Nicklas to be leaving the club alongside many other players, who were playing regularly for the club before managerial changes. Nevertheless, Bould put his faith in the pony-tailed powerhouse, who has featured on more regular occassions, earning himself his 100th appearance in November.
Bendtner praised Bould for his re-introduction into the team when questioned about his new milestone.
"Steve has put a lot of faith in me, especially since Olivier unfortunately picked up a nasty injury. At the start of the season, I was expecting to leave, with reported interest from Juventus and an unknown Sky Bet Championship side. When the manager then personally spoke to me to discuss my future, I knew we [Arsenal] had a great man in charge."
"Even with Giroud coming back very soon, I have been promised regular game time, something every footballer wants, and I cannot thank Bould enough for these opportunities, I am very grateful for every minute I play on the pitch."
The 25-year-old is currently earning £50k a week with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
