I reckon you should have tried to get perhaps £10m for Skrtel at the most £4m doesn't seem an awful lot. arsenal done pretty well to get him for that little anyway great updates and obiang will be a very good player as well as the keeper!

Former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has praised his replacement at Anfield, Frenchman Mamadou Sakho.

The 23-year-old arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and with the signing, new manager Jamie Carragher decided to sell Skrtel.

Now playing for the Reds' league rivals Arsenal, Skrtel revealed, "I am still a Liverpool fan and I have of course been watching Liverpool games. Manchester United gave them a harsh beating but I think they have recovered from it well."


The Slovak was referring to Liverpool's games after the United match, against Aston Villa and Fulham. The Reds won 3-1 in both fixtures.

"I think Mamadou Sakho has been amazing for Liverpool," Skrtel said in an interview with Sky Sports at Upton Park, just before the Gunners' match-up against West Ham.

"He's looking like a very good buy and his two goals against Aston Villa was fantastic. He is still only 23 and I feel that if he stays at Liverpool long enough he can really carve his name into the club's history."

Talking about his move to Arsenal, Skrtel said, "It wasn't my decision. I would have liked to stay at Liverpool. But, well, it's football. Arsenal is a great team and I want to help end the trophy drought."

Skrtel is not the only one to think highly of Sakho, with Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert expressing that "(Sakho) was very solid for (Liverpool) and very much the reason why we couldn't score more" after their 3-1 loss last week.

Since joining Liverpool, Sakho has made 5 appearances out of 5, having not missed a single game.

I offered him for 7.5 million, then 6M, then 5M, then 4.5M, but no one wanted him until I offered 3.5M. When Arsenal came in the best I could negotiate it to was 4M

I echo comments that some of those players are rated a lot lower than they should be lol but great signing in Timo Horn IMO. I had him in FM13 and he was incredible. Good luck as this goes forward and I will of course be following intently

Just ploughed through the 6 pages in one sitting. Great story so far. Very original set up in the way you'e relaying the story, in my opinion.

Good signing in Obiang too. Signed him on every save on FM13. Hugely reliable.

Curse Manchester! Man City have become the second Manchester team to beat us in a single month, knocking us out of the Capital One Cup with a 4-1 scoreline.

Goals from Andre Ayew, James Milner, Gael Clichy and Alvaro Negredo sealed the deal for City. Luis made his return in this match and managed to make an impact, but his single goal was only enough to prevent a clean sheet for Costel Pantilimon.

My back four of Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Mamadou Sakho and Aly Cissokho were horrible and I feel that they are starting to get too complacent. Our next match is against Cardiff and I think it is time to start a few other players.

I'm not exaggerating, the defending was terrible and cost us the game. Our midfield partnership of Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen was also unable to go up against City's four-man midfield of Fernandinho, Sami Khedira, Samir Nasri and Stevan Jovetic.

However, our young goalkeeper Timo Horn made an excellent contribution. Without Tim, the score would have been 8-1 or even more. Tim was exceptional today and I will definitely be playing him more in the future. The kid is already looking better than Brad Jones.


Andre Ayew was the official Man of the Match but our squad's best player on the field today was definitely Tim, and maybe Luis as a close runner-up. Both played their parts very well and their teammates let them down. On another day, we might have secured a win. Stevie's suspension for his red card against Manchester United earlier this month also cost us, with him running the midfield perhaps we could have at least pushed it to penalties.

But what's done is done and we have to look forward to the next game.

The Capital One Cup may be over for us, but we still have the FA Cup, and the Premier League of course.

Aside from club news, I think I've really found a bargain in young Timo. We'll have to see how he develops over the next few months. With Simon Mignolet not coming back at least for a few more weeks, that will give Tim plenty of chances to prove he has what it takes to challenge for a first team role once Simon returns.

In what will come as a big blow to both Liverpool manager Jamie Carragher and star striker Luis Suarez, the Uruguayan player will have an extended spell on the sidelines, suffering an injury in only his second appearance back from suspension.

Suarez was given a ten-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic in a match between Chelsea and Liverpool last season, with his suspension ending only last week when he made his long-awaited return against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup.

However, he went down in the 22nd minute holding his knee as the Reds took on Premier League newcomers Cardiff City, and Carragher has confirmed that he will miss Liverpool's next game against Newcastle.

"It is a big shame for us and Luis because we were looking forward to his return and he was looking forward to play football again," said Carragher, in Liverpool's post match conference after they drew Cardiff 1-1. "We have really missed him in the squad but I suppose we will have to go one more game without him."

French defender Mamadou Sakho took the lead for Liverpool in the match-up, but Cardiff came back with a late 80th minute equaliser courtesy of Don Cowie.

"I think we didn't play well enough," Carragher admitted. "That's why we were only able to secure a draw. I was hoping we could take three points from this.

"We have not been playing well in recent weeks and I will speak to the lads about it. Hopefully against Newcastle we can step up and make it our game."

In 5 games played this month, Liverpool drew once, lost twice and won twice. Devastating losses against the Manchester duo knocked them out of the Capital One Cup as well as three points down the Premier League table. A good display against Cardiff City was also only enough to earn them a point. But the Reds' convincing wins against Aston Villa and Fulham are ensuring their stay in the race for the Champions League qualifying spots.

Premier League Young Player of the Month

Liverpool's very own Coutinho has won the Young Player of the Month with a series of dazzling performances this September. The Brazilian scored the only goal for Liverpool when Manchester United crushed them 6-1, and also contributed to a 3-1 win against Aston Villa a week later when he opened the scoring for Liverpool with a beautiful volley. Not far behind Coutinho in third place for the award is Pedro Obiang, who has been filling in well for the injured Lucas Leiva.
