Hello and welcome to The Eintracht-Stadion, home of Eintracht Braunschweig, for their game against reigning champions BV Borussia Dortmund. The two sides met just a few weeks ago in the DFL-Supercup with a 2-0 win for underdogs Braunschweig, but last season Dortmund won both league fixtures including a 5-1 win on the opening day. Let's see who will play this time.

Braunschweig are playing their usual strikerless formation, but it is a first league game for their new signings such as Christopher Quiring and former Dortmund keeper Mitchell Langerak, who made a string of fantastic saves in the Supercup.

Dortmund play their usual 4-5-1 with no real surprises. Hummels, Piszczek, Reus, Blaszczkowski and Aubameyang will all start. New boy Lewis Holtby and former Braunschweig winger Karim Bellarabi will be on the bench. Dortmund certainly will be favourites, let's get on with the game.

1 - Kick Off
Borussia Dortmund will kick off here.

3 - Chance
Capuano goes in late on Blaszczkowski just outside the box and it'll be a free kick to Borussia Dortmund, which Marco Reus will take. It's Marco REUS!!!!!!! Against the crossbar! And Correia clears it out for a throw. Unlucky for Reus.

6 - Chance
Kratz, to Kessel, Benjamin Kessel misplaces his pass, Dortmund rush forward on the counter, Reus to Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan, he frees Aubameyang who lays it off to Marco REUS! Kept out by Langerak! He should have scored, but it's a corner kick for Dortmund.

14 - Chance
Another corner to Borussia Dortmund, it's Reus to take it, delivered in to the far post and it's headed away by Correia but only as far as SVEN BENDER! And his header hits the bar AND BENDER AGAIN! And his volley hits the bar! And it falls to AUBAMEYANG! Poor header! Should've scored.

26 - Chance
A free kick for Dortmund who are completely dominating this. Reus to take it and you feel it's only a matter of time before they score, Reus' free kick... against the bar! It falls to Aubameyang with AN OPEN GOAL... BRILLIANT TACKLE! Deniz Dogan comes in from behind to take the ball away cleanly from Aubameyang when he was certain to score!

33 - Yellow Card
Blaszczykowski on the ball, Capuano goes in late and the referee's card is straight out. It's a booking.

35 - GOAL! Eintracht Braunschweig 1-0 Borussia Dortmund
A rare attack for Braunschweig here, but Oerhl loses the ball, and Quiring gets it back, Kratz, Kruppke, Pfitzner, he frees Mirko Boland... IT'S MIRKO BOLAND WITH THE LOB.... GOAAAAAAAAALLLL! A world class lob from Mirko Boland! His second against Borussia Dortmund! 1-0, against the run of play!

Half Time

Eintracht Braunschweig 1-0 Borussia Dortmund

46 - Kick Off
It's Braunschweig who begin the next 45 minutes.

52 - Red Card
It's Blaszczykowski, on the halfway line, goes down under Capuano's challenge and he's already been booked! Capuano in danger of a red card here... he's off! Fabian Wangler pulls out his red card! Capuano protesting furiously, he thinks the Pole dived, and it's clear to see his claim really, there wasn't much contact!

71 - No goal
Reus with the ball out to Kevin Grosskreutz, the substitute, great touch, poor cross though, headed away to GUNDOGAN! Langerak keeps it out but it falls to AUBAMEYANG! HE'S NOT GOING TO MISS THAT ONE! 1-1! No! The linesman is flagging, Aubameyang's shot hit Kruppke on the line and Mkhitaryan turned it in with his knee, pinball really, but Mkhitaryan was offside, he's furious! Kruppke was on the line and I think that Mkhitaryan does not realise that he was ahead of the goalkeeper, he's livid! No goal!

92 - Full Time
Dortmund have one last chance here, they need a goal! Sebastian Rode, finds Marco Reus, he tries to play in Henrikh Mkhitaryan but Deniz Dogan smashes it away desperately, back to square one for Dortmund, Weidenfeller boots it back up the field and Dogan wins it in he air again, the referee looks at his watch and THAT'S IT! 1-0! A very lucky win for Braunschweig but a great start to the season nonetheless!

Eintracht Braunschweig 1-0 Borussia Dortmund

What the Frick?

Eintracht Braunschweig coach Benno Mohlmann has asked the DFB to supply more help to referees following his side's 3rd red card in the first two games of the season. Italian left back Ciro Capuano, 30 year old midfielder Marco Caligiuri and defensive midfielder Marc Pfitnzer have all received red cards.

Braunschweig's season began with a 1-0 win over reigning champions Borussia Dortmund though not without controversy. The two sides had met just weeks earlier in the DFL-Supercup with Braunschweig winning 2-0 and Dortmund's Marco Reus being sent off after gaining two bookings for simulation, which Mohlmann described as 'extremely harsh'. The league fixture saw a controversial win for Braunschweig not only as they defended the whole game but also saw Ciro Capuano's sending off for two bookable offences. The first was for a foul on Dortmund's Jakub Blaszczykowski who was also fouled for the second, though the referee seemed to have been fooled by a dive from the Pole. Dortmund's manager Jurgen Klopp complained later about the referee's decision.

"I obviously don't condone diving within my side but I think the referees need to look a lot harder to spot it. It exists so it must be stamped out, it's bad. There's been 2 sending offs in our games becausde of it."

Braunschweig got 2 red cards in the second game of their Bundesliga season, a 3-0 loss away at Borussia Monchengladbach. The first was for 30 year old midfielder Marco Caligiuri, who was sent
off after half time for two yellow cards. The first was for clattering into Gladbach's Max Kruse seconds before the home side took the lead, and the second yellow was for another foul on Kruse, coming in on him from behind and taking his legs away. As both fouls were fairly obvious and not at all debatable, the second sending off was a lot more controversial. Marc Pfitzner dived in for the ball but got there a little late and upended Kruse - which prompted the referee to get out his red card again. Mohlmann was furious after the game, and sharply told journalists that the referee's, especially Wolfgang Frick who had officiated the Gladbach game, needed help.

"It's not fair, we've had 3 red cards and two of them were clearly not red cards. Marc's distraught, I'm complaining to the authorities because [Wolfgang] Frick clearly needs help. No way should he have been sent off."

When quizzed over Capuano's red card against Dortmund, Mohlmann was no less damning.

"The referees have to have extra help, be it from video replays, the fourth official, or just extra training. They need to be able to tell what is a foul. Perhaps then we'd have even won that game."

Mohlmann's appeal about Pfitzner was rejected by the DFB.
Man these refs are as bad as the ones from MLS. Better check where they came from haha

Europa League Group Stage

Eintracht Braunschweig have been pitted against English giants Arsenal in their Europa League group. Group F will also contain Belgians Club Brugge and Feyenoord Rotterdam, the club of Kostas Lamprou, a goalkeeper who spent last year on loan at Braunschweig.

Braunschweig have qualified for this Europa League tournament with their victory over VfL Wolfsburg in the DFB-Pokal. The other German sides currently in the competition are Borussia Monchengladbach, 1.FC Nurnberg, and VfL Wolfsburg.

Arsenal finished 4th in the Premier League last year but failed to qualify for the later stages of the Champions League having lost the qualification play off to Real Betis over two legs. The first leg at the Emirates saw a horrible injury to defender Laurent Koscielny who will be out for 3 more weeks, and Arsenal were up against it in the second leg in Seville despite drawing the first leg, as defender Marc Bartra picked up two yellow cards, though Betis too went down to 10 men.

Braunschweig director Soren Oliver Vogt has publicly condemned the tough draw, though he did state that the challenge could motivate his side to go all the way.

"Benno's done a great job, now we're here and we've got a tough group. There might not be any way out of it but we will try. Obviously I don't want a tough draw but maybe we can make something of it."

The full draw is as follows.

August - Season Two

And Braunschweig begin their second top flight season, but how did it go?

They weren't the favourites and they did not play well. But Eintracht Braunschweig managed to defeat Borussia Dortmund and it was all thanks to Mirko Boland. They were defending, defending, defending, but after half an hour it was Braunschweig who took the lead against the run of play through Boland's excellent lob, Braunschweig's only shot of 3 that was on target. Things took a turn for the worse after Ciro Capuano's red card for two bookings. Die Lowen held out though, for a great start.

A 1-0 win at home to Dortmund was the ideal way to start Braunschweig's second Bundesliga season. A 3-0 defeat at the hands of Borussia Verein für Leibesübungen Mönchengladbach (to give them their full name) was not. Luuk De Jong opened the scoring with a penalty that saw Christopher Quiring, the offender, not booked but Benjamin Kessel, Kevin Kratz, and Mirko Boland all enter the referee's book for dissent. Just a few minutes later it was 2-0 when Patrick Hermann found Mitchell Langerak out of position and the sides went in at 3-0 after a Max Kruse volley. The second half saw no goals but 2 sending offs as Marco Caligiuri received his second booking and Marc Pfitzner raised his studs on Kruse. The Braunschweig team left to a chorus of boos.

After the traumatic 3-0 loss to Gladbach, Braunschweig would be mainly just trying not to embarass themselves, especially against rivals Wolfsburg. But although they did do that, they didn't entertain the paying customers in the Eintracht-Stadion with a 0-0 draw that only gave us 13 shots in the 90 minutes. They still managed to pick up 4 bookings, but no more red cards.

Oh dear Ciro Capuano. The Italian left back has been a first choice since his arrival, playing 15 times in the 2013/14 season but his new year did not begin brightly. His second red card of the year came against Frankfurt in yet another bore draw. The side cleaned up their act though and despite Capuano's disgrace which resulted in him being left out of the Europa League squad registration they did only did pick up one booking through Marcel Correia.

Not a bad start! 5 points from the first few games with a win over Dortmund is class
