Arsenal lead 1-0 early on here! Poor keeping really, the cross from Santon is undefended and Giroud heads in, the keeper just deflects it past his defender.

Not good. Feyenoord's Gudelj will have to come off, he seems to have a torn hamstring here. He got it from tackling Kratz, he might have just stretched a bit too much.

1-0! Braunschweig have taken the lead here! It's Korte who gets it, well done to Christopher Quiring, he got it from Kratz, dribbled through numerous defenders and teed up Korte. Open goal, he couldn't miss.

Micah Richards will have to come off for Arsenal. I can't quite tell how on Earth he's done that! He's just bruised his rib, whilst passing the ball. Extraordinary.

- Booking - 42 - Jordy Clasie
A yellow card here for Feyenoord's Jordy Clasie. It's clearly a foul, Marcel Correia had the ball on the wing, he cut inside to deliver the ball in but Clasie tripped him, and ends up in the ref's book.

And now it's 2-0! Arsenal have some breathing space here. Davide Santon with the goal, a fantastic header, the original ball came in from Ozil, towards Giroud but Tom De Sutter got it away, only as far as Santon. Bullet header from him to make it 2.

Feyenoord down to just 10 men here! Wow! It's Clasie who picks up his second booking, the first came just before half time and this one just after, for another trip on Marcel Correia.

- GOAL! - 49 - Deniz Dogan - Eintracht Braunschweig 2-0 Feyenoord Rotterdam
Unbelievable! It's 2-0 to the underdog, Eintracht Braunschweig two goals ahead here! I think that's going to go down to the poor defending, Dogan was unmarked and there was no one at the post to block his header. 2-0!

- GOAL! - 57 - Aaron Ramsey - Arsenal 3-0 Club Brugge
Arsenal have wrapped the game up here! 3-0! It's Aaron Ramsey who scores. Gibbs got it out wide, receiving a pass from Sagna, he played it wide to Andre Ayew, who squared it for the Welshman Ramsey. Game over.

Who needs Ciro Capuano? Not Braunschweig! It's Christian Eichner, who's been in his shadow for most of their time here, but that's a great goal. Kratz takes his free kick quickly, delivers to Eichner at the near post, who whacks it in!

Full Time
A convincing win for Arsenal as expected, but Feyenoord? As the favourites no one saw a 3-0 defeat coming. That was not a good performance from them, but Braunschweig will be over the moon.

Hell of a result man!! Hope you can upset Arsenal.

Zambian midfielder Rainford Kalaba has finally signed a contract with Eintracht Braunschweig having first trialled with the club in late 2013. The 28 year old has never played in Germany before, having spent all of his career, save for 3 years in Portugal and one year at French side Nice, for African clubs.

Kalaba was a free agent in December 2013, only for Eintracht Braunschweig to take him on trial amongst others such as David Healy, Alexander Madlung and Ciro Capuano, who later signed. Kalaba was given another trial by Der BTSV for the start of the 2014/15 season. He signed on the morning of July the 26th and played against Borussia Dortmund in the DFL-Supercup later that day, with Braunschweig's Mirko Boland and Ermin Bicakcic scoring the only goals of the game, though Kalaba did not play to the best of his ability. His trial period ran out before their first Bundesliga game, again vs Dortmund. His agent asked Die Lowen's coach Benno Mohlmann for a €23k salary every week, which Mohlmann described as ridiculous and refused to speak to the agent. However, Kalaba has recently sacked his agent and Braunschweig have tied up a deal worth a paltry €4k per week.

Kalaba began his career in his native Zambia with local side Afrisports. In 2005 he broke into the first team, and played 26 times with 19 goals going in from his midfield role. Afrisports loaned him out for a year to French side OGC Nice, but he failed to make an appearance. The next 2 years he was on loan again, at Zambian Premier League side Zesco United. He played 29 times in the first season at Zesco, but failed to make an appearance in his next year. He managed to impress scouts from Portuguese side SC Braga who coughed up €115k to bring him abroad. He didn't break through to the first team and was loaned out to Second Division Gil Vicente, where he scored just 4 times in 22 games. Then he moved on loan again, to Leira, but he played just 3 times. He was again loaned out, this time to Egyptian team Zamalek, but failed to impress, making no appearances, and was then released by Braga. From there he joined Congolese side TP Mazembe, where he made 24 appearances last year before being released. He has 68 Zambia caps, having won the African cup of Nations of 2012.

Kalaba has stated his delight at joining Braunschweig, and having a chance to play in Europe, and especially the Europa League. However, he was not registered in time to play in the group stage and will now hope that the side progress to the knockout stages.

Goal for Mainz! A great start, they take an early lead! It's a penalty, Julian Koch gave it to Kampl and the ref saw a foul by Ofori, personally I'm not sure, but Nedelev tucks it in.

Bayern Munich lead here in Frankfurt! The defence will have some questions to answer and the keeper, Kevin Trapp, will be asking them. Thiago's free kick, header by Kadlec, and Trapp makes a wonderful save, but the defence just watches and let's Badstuber nod in the rebound. Die Bayern in front.

- GOAL! - 12 -Holger Badstuber - Eintracht Fraknfurt 0-2 FC Bayern Munchen
BADSTUBER GETS HIS SECOND! EXTRAORDINARY! Just two minutes later! And would you believe it, it's a free kick from the centre back! Not even smashed it, but beautifully curled it right past Kevin Trapp.

- GOAL! - 16 - Marvin Pourie - Eintracht Frankfurt 1-2
Frankfurt haven't taken too long to respond here! They've pulled one back, through Marvin Pourie, on the counter attack, Bayern just couldn't stop them. It's Chandler who has it first, intercepting a poor pass, gives it to Aigner, he runs through them all and sets up Pourie, who beats Neuer to the ball. They have a lifeline here.

Own Goal! - 16 - Daniel Royer - 1.FC Kaiserslautern 1-1 1.FSV Mainz 05
Ahhh, own goal! It's Royer, the new signing from FK Austria, who's turned it in, I have absolutely no idea what he was doing! The corner comes in from Borysiuk and under no pressure, he smashes it in with a bullet header. Definitely a freak goal, you can be sure that match fixing allegations will be doing the rounds on the internet.

- GOAL! - 22 - Daniel Royer - 1.FC Kaiserslautern 1-2 1.FSV Mainz 05
Never mind those allegations. Royer puts one in at the right end, and it's a great goal too! Got the ball in a position to cross, but cut inside, beat two men, and fired in from an angle.



- GOAL! - 50 - Nikolce Noveski - 1.FC Kaiserslautern 1-3 1.FSV Mainz 05
Royer got a header earlier at the wrong end, but this time it's a goal from a Mainz player that will count for Mainz and it's another header! He lost his marker, got in front of the keeper, and nodded in. 3-1.

- GOAL! - 60 - Martin Lanig - Eintracht Frankfurt 2-2 FC Bayern Munchen
WOW! WOW! Hahaha! Frankfurt level! Martin Lanig! It's 2-2! No one saw this coming, 2-2, Lanig the scorer, he received the ball from Norman Theuerkauf, blasted it in at the near post, Neuer hadn't a prayer.

- GOAL! - Ádám Szalai - 62 - Schalke 04 1-0 Hertha BSC
Ooh, slack defending from Die Alte Dame and they've been punished, it's Szalai! Schalke lead at the Veltins Arena, through the Hungarian Szalai, no one seemed too bothered by his presence and
Aogo didn't have any trouble picking him out, he didn't have any trouble picking out the back of the net.

- GOAL! - Klaas Jan Huntellar - 66 - Schalke 04 2-0 Hertha BSC
Well, we have another goal here! The Hunter just does not miss! Another good move by Die Konigsblauen, Aogo with another assist, as Dutchman Huntelaar rose to head in his cross at the near post.

- GOAL! - 73 - Jakub Swierczok - 1.FC Kaiserslautern 2-3 1.FSV Mainz 05
Kaiserslautern may just be back in this one. It's 3-2 to Mainz now, Die Roten having pulled one back through Swierczok. He had a sniff of goal beforehand, but looked out wide and saw Gaus in a better position, and he beat his man before putting it on a plate for the 21 year old Pole, Swierczok.

He's off, his second booking, this one for clattering into Timothy Chandler, his first came after 70 minutes for stopping Frankfurt's Ramos illegally, though it looked like a dive and Bayern are now feeling the consequences of the referee's decision.

You'd have thought that after Boateng's sending off Frankfurt wouldn't want to go down to 10 themselves, but Johannes Flum has got his second yellow. Needless really, he gave the ball away and Muller tried to run past him, but he stuck out a leg, and has been shown a red by the ref.

Ribery with the assist, Mandzukic finished the move! Great goal! Ribery did well, he beat his man, got into a good position, I think his ross might have deflected of Marcel Correia but it found it's way to Mario Mandzukic, he made no mistake, 1-0.

Maybe Braunschweig can counter here, it's Timo Perthel on the right, he plays it to Mirko Boland. Boland hesitates, Lahm wins it, Arjen Robben, Robben gets past a defender into a good position, he might have a go... he does, but it's well wide. Should've done better with the finish, but maybe he could have also given it out wide, I think Ribéry was there.

Badstuber at the back, simple pass to Javi Martínez, Martínez to Robben. Arjen Robben cuts inside, Braunschweig are holding off him, oh, he's past Pfitzner, he shoots from a long way out, Langerak gathers. Robben too greedy again. He had options and he ignored them.

Headed on by Mario Mandzukic, no one's near Robben, Mirko Boland and Pfitzner racing back but they can't keep up, Robben still, chance, Dogan comes over, Robben tees up FRANCK RIBÉRY WITH THE OPEN GOAL! NO! HOW? I don't believe that! He didn't get any form of connection on the ball! Langerak clutches the ball to his chest gratefully. Ribéry cannot believe he missed the ball there.

Franck Ribéry with the long ball... headed away by Deniz Dogan. Kratz gets it, touches it off to Correia, through ball to Quiring, Damir Vrancic, plays it over the top to Korte, Gianluca Korte, Badstuber chasing, Korte brings it down, past Badstuber, Korte, past Neuer, Korte, GOAL! Gianluca Korte fires home, great ball from Vrancic, he brought it down, rounded the keeper, and did not miss from there, Braunschweig know there's hope in this yet. 2-1.

Boateng's throw in, Ribéry, Mandzukic, FULL TIME! Bayern get the 3 points! They dominated here, but it was tough! Braunschweig would not lie down and Bayern were caught napping at times, they were a little lucky in the end - but so were Braunschweig. Full time, 2-1.

Despite winning both of their two cup games this month, Braunschweig were not as successful in the league. Exactly how unsuccessful were they, though?


Not too unsuccessful to begin with, at least. After two weeks off for internationals, Eintracht Braunschweig got off to a great start to the month on their return. A very good start, in fact, as it took just 22 seconds for Die Lowen to score through Jan Hochsheidt's second league goal for the club, fantastically lobbing the goalkeeper after Kevin Kratz's assist. Despite the game bursting into life immediately, there was a while before the next goal, and two injuries, to Braunschweig's Ken Reichel and Freiburg's Gelson Fernandes, came first. When the goal did come it was Kevin Kratz, who had assisted the first goal, tying the game up with a calm finish.


Going into the game there was hope and optimism in the Braunschweig camp, after defeating ot just Freiburg but Feyenoord too. However, the performance was cause for concern as Stuttgart, managed by former Braunschweig man Torsten Lieberknecht, could've had 5. Just 22 minutes had passed when Stuttgart were awarded a penalty for a clumsy trip by Dennis Kruppke. However, Mitchell Langerak stopped Daniel Schwaab's penalty and the visitors hung on until the 68th minute when Mato Jajalo got his first goal after a cut back from Marko Marin. The lead didn't last as Braunschweig soon had a penalty of their own, which was converted by Timo Perthel, but Schwaab who was denied a goal earlier saw a header ruled out, but more poor defending saw Stuttgart lead again through Marin, and Jajalo got his second after a lucky deflection sent him clean through, as Stuttgart headed even further up the table.


Against the mighty empire that is Bayern Munich, Eintracht Braunschweig were not up to much. But there wasn't much expected of them and they in fact played well despite Bayern's dominance. It took 25 minutes for Mario Mandzukic to open the scoring with a tap in and Franck Ribéry made it 2-0 before half time. Bayern had 23 shots but only 6 were on target, and Braunschweig themselves managed to put 4 of their 5 efforts on target, one of them being Gianluca Korte's goal late on in the game after he rounded Manuel Neuer.

Not a very good month mate! I am sure that the results will start coming soon..

No Goal! - 10 - Ivan Trickowski - Eintracht Braunschweig 0-0 Club Brugge
And Brugge thought they had the lead here, but the referee has ruled it out! A long ball from the free kick, in the box, Odjidja headed it down to Trickowski, smashes it in, 1-0, no, ruled out. Brugge aren't protesting.

- GOAL! - 17 - Lex Immers - Feyenoord 1-0 Arsenal
And the home side lead! Feyenoord in front! It's Immers who scores, but it's not exactly beautiful goal. van Aanholt's corner is missed by all the Feyenoord players and Arsenal's defence. Immers was there, and he hit it past Iliev. 1-0!

- GOAL! - 39 - Marcel Correia - Eintracht Braunschweig 1-0 Club Brugge
Braunschweig finally have the breakthrough! They don't deserve it, though, Brugge have dominated so far, and have had a goal ruled out, but Braunschweig lead through Correia. A great corner in to the near post, Corriea rises and heads in past an FM11 style keeper out of position at a corner.

- GOAL! - 45 - Graziano Pelle - Feyenoord 2-0 Arsenal
Who saw this coming? Arsenal down 2-0! Feyenoord have scored again, through Graziano Pelle. He calmly finished by slotting it past Iliev, but it wasn't all him, a fantastic team goal! Singh, Immers, Beltmann, Djordevic, and finally, Pelle finished it.

3-0 TO FEYENOORD! ARSENAL SINKING WITHOUT TRACE! And you can bet Vermaelen will be pilloried by the media, he had the ball at the back, completely ignored his options and the two Feyenoord players coming to tackle him. Pelle got the ball, ran with it, then hit it low and hard, past Iliev for 3-0.

- GOAL! - 80 - Joel Campbell - Feyenoord 3-1
Campbell pulls one back! Arsenal still 2 goals behind but it's only 3-1 now, he got the ball from a cross to the near post and volleyed in. 3-1.

- GOAL! - 89 - Carl Hoefkens - Eintracht Braunschweig 1-1 Club Brugge
Late drama here, Brugge level the score! 1-1! Hoefkens with the goal, they've dominated, they deserve the goal, Brugge. Langerak has played well today, but he might feel at fault, he couldn't hold it and it trickled in. The equaliser.

Eintracht Braunschweig were beginning to slip up, but would October be a month of revival? Or would they drop down even further?


Braunschweig were on poor form having just drawn to Club Brugge and lost their league gamesbefore that. Union Berlin, on the other hand, had just dominated Nurnberg with a 5-1 win. This fixture should have been an entertaining one, but both sides played so poorly that the referee was thanked for bringing the game to an end. Torsten Oerhl opened the scoring half an hour in having been given the ball by the Berlin defence, but in the second half, Lennart Thy equalised, the goal having come as 5 Braunschweig defenders stood round the ball before Marcel Correia poked it into the path of Thy. Braunschweig took the lead again when Dennis Kruppke was unmarked, but late on Simon Terrode's header found Benatelli who failed to convert 'his chance, yet Bjorn Jopek turned the ball in to equalise in the late stages of the game.


Football teams often are left to wonder 'if only...' and Eintracht Braunschweig were one of these teams. But what they were pondering was how well they'd fare 'if only we could defend competently...'. Schalke's Roman Neudstadter was shown his second yellow card nearly an hour in, but Braunschweig didn't capitalise, and Schalke's goal came in the worst possible circumstances. A long clearance from Howedes came to Timo Perthel, who missed the ball, and was outpaced by Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who was unable to get the ball, until Mitchell Langerak let the ball rub past him and Huntelaar tapped into the open goal for the only goal of the game.


And with every single game this month, Braunschweig have come out of it with a poor result - but one that flatters them nonetheless. This was another terrible performance as the side succumbed to Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion. Eljero Elia gave the home side the lead as he passed it into the back of the net just before half time, and Cedric Makiadi got the second late on as goalkeeper Langerak came out to clear a long ball and Makiadi smashed the ball in from 40 yards with the open goal. Braunschweig pulled one back through Zambian Rainford Kalaba, who volleyed in for his first Braunschweig goal, but the game was already up.
