SERIE A REVIEW 2013/14

FINAL TABLE

PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Eduardo Salvio (FC Internazionale)
TOP GOALSCORER: Christian Benteke (FC Internazionale) - 29
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Gino Peruzzi (Catania)

COPPA ITALIA WINNERS: Juventus

PROMOTED FROM SERIE B: Bari, Padova, Empoli.

Well, that was quite a season.

15 points ahead of runners up, Juventus and a massive FIFTY clear of our city rivals on top of going the entire season unbeaten was truly phenomenal.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Christian Benteke's 29 league goals means he is crowned Europe's Golden Shoe winner, ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Jeez AC Milan suck :))

Sign up Salvio on a permanent deal!!
Can't believe what I was missing out on, just read it all from start to finish and all I can say is that you're a legend! :D Congratulations on winning the title mate, absolutely love the storylines you come up with :D Benteke has been great this season, I hope he does as well for you next season :) Good luck Jason, will be following regularly from now onwards!

@Neal - Got him on loan for a second season mate, more than happy with that! But he'll have to fight for his place, got a top new RW on the cheap! :)

@Tahir - Thanks mate, you're making me blush!! :P
Hell of a season man!! Loving the 0 in the loss column.

Quality this mate. Can't believe I've only just stumbled across this, definitely going to begin following - hope you continue.

SEASON 2 - 2014 / 15

After a well deserved rest and trip to Brazil to take in the World Cup, I was back in Italy and behind my desk for the first time in 3 weeks.

My e-mail inbox was jammed but one in particular caught my eye.

To: "Jason Connolly" ([email protected])

From: "Eric Cantona" ([email protected])

Subject: Congratulations

Dear Jason,

Congratulations on a magnificent first season in Italy. I wish you all the best for your next adventure.

E

Wow. Talk about making me feel bad.

Even after the way I spoke to him the last time we met, Eric took time out to congratulate me on my first season at Inter.

I clicked reply but before I could begin to type - my phone rang.

Massimo.

"Hello?"

"Jason, come over to my office when you're free please. We need to discuss transfers and our initial budget." Massimo states.

I looked at Eric's e-mail and said to myself I'll reply later.

I dropped the lid down on my MacBook and walked across the stadium to Massimo's office.
After the meeting with Massimo, I was suitably informed of the healthy state of affairs surrounding the club's finances.

They were so secure, that my transfer budget for the season was sitting pretty at almost £75m.

I drew up a list of targets and after working tirelessly for what seemed like eternity, I had secured a few new faces that would improve the squad and replace those who I deemed surplus to requirements.

NEW FACES AT THE SAN SIRO

Chilean winger, Alexis Sanchez, arrived back in Serie A from Barcelona in a cut price deal worth £14.75m. His creativity and pace will add something special to our attacking options and his Champions League experience will be vital as only half a dozen of my squad have played in the competition before.

Spanish international goalkeeper, Victor Valdes joins us on a free transfer following his release from Barcelona. Speculation surrounding the future of Samir Handanovic was the main factor in concluding this deal. Like Sanchez, Valdes adds vital Champions League experience.

Last season's Young Player of the Year, Gino Peruzzi arrives from Catania in a deal worth £18m. The 24 times capped Argentine right back is seen as the long term successor to countryman Javier Zanetti who aged 40 - played 27 times in Serie A last season.

A full transfer round up will be compiled at the close of the Transfer Window.
Good signings :)
Sanchez and Valdes are absolutely top class signings, well done! Peruzzi was a beast for me in FM13, hope he does just as well for you in this edition! :D
Nice update with some really nice signings. Peruzzi will be sick!

100th Comment
Thanks guys!!

And congrats on 100th comment Joe :)
I read this from start to finish, as well. I loved it! A great story and well done on the story of the month nomination.
