PRE SEASON 2014/15

Due to the success of last season and the impact of Yuto Nagatomo, Inter as a club had never been more popular in the Far East.

A pre season tour of China was arranged towards the end of last season and we headed for the People's Republic to further enhance our brand and grab the marketing revenues by the throat.

Two games, two wins and some of the new men and youngsters impressed me greatly.



SHENZHEN 1-3 FC INTERNAZIONALE

Goals - Kovacic, Bonaventura, Rugani.



BEIJING 0-2 FC INTERNAZIONALE

Goals - Nagatomo, Benteke.

China was somewhere I hadn't visited before but I would definitely return… Not because of the Great Wall or the culture and not because of the history or the tourism.

Because of her - Jia Li.

What can I say?

From the moment I met her, she took my breath away.

25 years old, a year younger than myself and a Chinese make up and fashion model, Jia Li (her name means beautiful) was the first girl that captured my interests since I broke up with my ex.

We met at one of Beijing's swankiest night spots after the game and after spending a wonderful few days together, I was dreading leaving China.

I took the bull by the horns and invited her to join us on the next leg of our pre-season tour in Portugal.

She had a week off shooting, so duly obliged to getting some Iberian sunshine.

She made me feel good about myself, I think having a lady in my life was all that was missing because although my job at Inter made me happy, I hated going home to an empty apartment.

PRE-SEASON TOUR NUMBER 2 - PORTUGAL

Jia Li joined us as planned on the trip and the connection between us grew and grew. It was a bit of a joke amongst the lads, the manager acting like a smitten teenager but I didn't care - although when we went our separate ways at the airport come the end of the tour, my heart was in tatters.

Anyway, in terms of football - two strong performances in Portugal were rewarded with two resounding victories over good opposition. Mateo Kovacic bagged four goals in two games and was the star performer in pre-season.

Goals: Kovacic (2), Icardi, Sanchez, Benteke.

The Italian Super Cup beckons as our first competitive fixture of the season.

Brazilian International left back joins the club as replacement for Roma bound Nagatomo in a £12m deal from FC Porto.

Obiang arrives in an £11m co-ownership deal from Sampdoria with the Nerazzuri beating off competition from Juventus.

THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY...

Ander Herrera looked set to join us in a £15m deal from Athletic Bilbao but moneybags Monaco snatched him from our grasp at the last second.

Nevertheless, I'm very happy with our transfer dealings and think they can help in a long season which now includes Champions League football.
