ANTONIO ADAN SIGNS FOR AS ROMA
Francesco Totti has today confirmed that AS Roma have signed Antonio Adan on a free transfer after the Spanish goalkeeper’s contract was not renewed by new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. Adan, who is expected to play second string to Morgan De Sanctis, signed a two year deal which expires in 2015 and will be on €11k per week.
Last season, Adan was the center of a huge goalkeeping controversy under Jose Mourinho’s tumultuous reign in charge of Los Galacticos. Mourinho, defying every Real Madrid fan and pundit, unceremoniously dropped club hero and captain Iker Casillas and began to start Antonio Adan, and, eventually, Diego Lopez. However, Francesco Totti didn’t mention this at the new shot stopper’s unveiling, and instead talked about Adan’s qualities.
“Antonio is a very good goalkeeper that I’m very happy to welcome to Roma. We don’t have much depth in this position as behind De Sanctis we only have Lukasz Skorupski, who is injured, and so Adan can help us here in backup. I think he also has the quality to play in the Coppa matches and keep Morgan on his toes for his starting spot.”
The Spaniard, who has 2 U21 caps for his national side to his name, expressed his excitement at joining the Giallorossi as well. “There was a lot of unwanted press last year about who should start, so this year I’m happy to join Roma and focus on my football. There is something big happening here and I am excited to be a part of it.”
While Adan may not play for a few matches, he is expected to make his debut when Roma host Padova in the Coppa Italia on January 1st, though he may play earlier should regular first choice goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis suffer an injury.

ROMA WIN TWO STRAIGHT BEFORE MILAN MATCH
CHIEVO 1-5 ROMA (DODO, TOTTI X3, LJAJIC)
ROMA 2-1 TORINO (DE ROSSI, LJAJIC)
Coming off of their huge Derby della Capitale draw against Lazio, AS Roma was looking to continue its unbeaten start to the campaign. The Giallorossi had so far gone 12 matches unbeaten with a record of 8-4-0, having won the first 4 matches in a row. Many people had expected Roma to be fighting for a Europa League/Champions League spot, so their early form had been quite a positive surprise.
After the international break that followed the Derby match, Roma traveled to the Stadio Mercantonio Bentegodi in Verona to take on Chievo in a match where American midfielder Michael Bradley would return to the club he’d spent a season at. Most people expected a solid win for the league leaders, but nobody expected the great thrashing that ensued.
Dodo started the scoring just six minutes into the match with a delightful left-footed hit from outside the box, and player-manager Francesco Totti doubled the lead from the spot just ten minutes later. Bostjan Cesar scored half an hour in, and the sides went in 2-1 to Roma after a well fought half.
In the second half, Francesco Totti took control of the game. The legendary captain set up Adem Ljajic to make it 3-1 before scoring twice in the last fifteen minutes to complete his hattrick and fully beat Chievo into the dust, 5-1. Rome’s ‘Golden Boy’ now has 7 goals on the year.
“It’s a great, great feeling,” said Totti, who had only managed 1 goal in his last 7 matches. “I want to lead the team as a manager and captain but my main job on the pitch is to score goals, and I’m ecstatic to have scored three today.”
Roma next hosted Torino at the Stadio Olimpico. The Toro had finally recovered from its four match losing streak by picking up 7 points from its last 9 available but knew traveling to Rome to take on the capital city side would be a very difficult challenge.
In fact, Roma got off to the perfect start when Daniele De Rossi hammered home a header from Totti’s lofted cross just six minutes in to send the Giallorossi fans into raptures. Half an hour in, Adam Ljajic doubled the lead when he drifted past two defenders after collecting a pass from Michael Bradley and slotting the ball home.
Torino weren’t ready to throw in the towel just yet, though, and Ciro Immobile netted a league-leading 11th goal to bring Torino back into the match with a shout with twenty minutes remaining. However, very late on in the game, with Torino pushing forward for an equalizer, Danilo D’Ambrosio was sent off for a second bookable offense, allowing Roma to regain control of the game and win 2-1.
“It’s been a good couple of games for the team and for my own performances as a player,” said Francesco Totti in the match’s aftermath. “Our attack is rearing to go before every match and goals look a certainty.”
The Giallorossi will next travel to the San Siro to take on AC Milan in an important match for the top of the league. Roma drew Inter Milan 1-1 in their last visit to Milan but will look to take all 3 points this time. Before that match, the league table looks as follows:

Napoli also have a positive goal difference yet have lost over half there games xD
This save has everything xD
Still unbeaten, even with those draws staying unbeaten will get you the title, no doubt.
Good luck against Milan!

jason_connolly1987: Not quite sure, looks like Mazzarri's 3-5-1-1 type of formation isn't working out so well >.<

ROMA FINALLY LOSE IN POOR DECEMBER
MILAN 0-0 ROMA
ROMA 1-0 BOLOGNA (DESTRO)
FIORENTINA 1-0 ROMA
It took 17 matches to do it, but AS Roma have finally lost in Serie A and are on a poor streak, having picked up 4 of the last 9 possible points after a tough draw against AC Milan, a slender win against Bologna, and a disappointing loss to Fiorentina. Not only has the streak been dry on points but also dry on goals, with only 1 scored in those matches.
First the Giallorossi traveled to the San Siro to face a Milan side that was on a four match winning streak in Serie A and that could go second, just two points behind Roma, if they could pull of a victory.
The match was mainly fought in midfield, as both sides played with three central midfielders and an attacking midfielder, and the two sides canceled each other out at times and struggled to keep the ball. While the Rossoneri perhaps struggled to create offense, they also shut down Roma’s rampant attack as Totti and Ljajic failed to be involved.
Late on, Roma suffered a big injury blow as Marco Borriello was stretchered off with a broken foot and will miss nearly two months, leaving the Giallorossi with only three first team strikers and only 10 men on the pitch as the match ended 0-0.
Francesco Totti’s men wanted to quickly recover in the next match when they hosted Bologna. After the disappointing offensive showing in the previous game, the manager dropped himself from the eleven and gave Mattia Destro his first league start.
Roma dominated the match from the very first whistle, but their match got a lot easier when Archimede Morleo was given a straight red card 23 minutes into the match after a horrible tackle on Daniele De Rossi. Thankfully the Roma midfielder was able to continue after receiving treatment, and from there on Roma enjoyed over 70% of possession.
Bologna then parked the bus, eager to preserve a draw, but it was Mattia Destro netting on his first start this season with a drilled shot from outside the box that gave Roma the lead. Bologna struggled to get out of their defensive shell in the second half but at least did not concede again as Roma came out the victors by a 1-0 score.
The fans in the Stadio Artemio Franchi of Florence were the first to celebrate their side to topple the then-undefeated AS Roma. Everybody knew it would be a tough match for the league leaders, who hadn’t lost their first 16 matches, but most people believed they could escape with at least a point.
It was an evenly contested match at first, but Fiorentina looked the more dangerous, and half an hour in it was Mario Gomez who gave the home side a 1-0 lead with a thumping header from Borja Valero’s corner kick. The German international, who is a new signing for the Viola, celebrated wildly as his fans leaped off their feet, sensing an upset.
Seventy minutes in, Daniele De Rossi was shown a straight red card (and eventually banned 3 matches) for a rash, two footed challenge on Giuseppe Rossi, and the 10 men of Roma could not find an equalizer. Fiorentina ran out 1-0 winners, inflicting the Giallorossi’s first loss in 17 games.
“It’s very disappointing for us,” said a dejected Francesco Totti after the match. “If we want to win the Scudetto then we have to win against the big teams; we cannot afford to drop so many points. We start fresh now in 2014 and we hope to start things with a win and some goals in the Coppa against Padova.”
At the end of the 2013 calendar year, the Serie A race looks as follows:
