For manager Mike Korrigan this final was very special as it was his 100th match in charge of the club. Looking to make this special he was looking for a positive outcome. Well the Rovers made his day as they shutout Championship side Bray Wanderers to claim the title.
This match was Captain Robbie Keane's first trophy as captain of the squad. A few months back Korrigan made the switch of captains amid a huge firestorm with many believing it was favoritism.
"Being apart of this club is special at first I was a little apprehensive about the move, but it has paid off."-Robbie Keane
Keane would start off the scoring after an easy finish during the 17th minute. Later on Bray would cause two errors leading to two Rovers goals. The second goal of the night came from Tadanari Lee as he took advantage of Gav Boynes error. The third and final goal came from wonderkid Jim Mulholland. He would score from an error in close range.
In other news before the match the club announced the signing of Croatian youngster Tomislav Kiš from Hajduk Split. The transfer deal that will go ahead on 1 July is estimated to be just under 1 million Euro. Since joining Split in 2011 he has not lived up to the hype. So far in the 2014-15 season he has only made 10 appearances with only one goal.
Since taking over Shamrock, Mike Korrigan has been a force to be reckoned with. During his time they have won two league titles (season is not over yet but they have mathematically won), one EA Sports Cup, one Irish Shield and one All-Ireland Cup. He is looking to finish the season up with victories in the All-Ireland Cup and the FAI Cup.
