Sporting Kansas City's Osvaldo Armendariz has agreed with Irish giants Shamrock Rovers on a transfer that is estimated around $3.5m USD. In what was seen as a surprise move Shamrock have added a really quality defender to their squad.
The 20 year old Armendariz has been apart of the SKC system for the last few years. He is most notably known for being one of their best academy players in recent memory. On top of that Armendariz has been a member of the USA U20 squad where he has made 5 appearances. Last season he made 11 appearances and scored a goal.
"This will be a huge loss for us at SKC but Shamrock will be getting a quality defender who knows how to make plays and will be a star some day."- Peter Vermes, SKC Manager
The Rovers manager is American Michael Korrigan. Since his arrival at Tallaght Stadium, he has made the club into a powerhouse. He is most known for the concept of Money Ball 2.0. This is when you find great players on frees or at low cost. This transfer will be the highest that he has spent on a player since joining the club in June of 2013.
This transfer will go through on June 27th. With the deal there is a rumor that the two clubs will be facing each other in a friendly. Does this mean Shamrock will be coming over to the US this summer??
