LIVERPOOL TURN TO LAUDRUP
Liverpool has appointed former Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup as the club’s new manager, following Brendan Rodgers’ move to the England national team.
Laudrup signs a one year deal with Liverpool and will once again succeed Rodgers, as he did so in the summer of 2012 at Swansea.
The Danish manager was sacked halfway through the campaign by the Swans last season, but he’s keen to put his failures behind him and prove he has all the capabilities of managing in the Barclays Premier League.
”I enjoyed my time with Swansea, but I know I left much unanswered with regards to my managerial attributes since my departure.
“I believe I can rectify that here and I’m very much looking forward to the challenge of managing a club such as Liverpool.
“Brendan Rodgers did an exceptional job last season, so it’s my task to continue where he left off and aim for the title that we all want.”
Laudrup arrives at a time Liverpool’s star man Luis Suarez has left the club for Barcelona, and although the Dane wishes he still had the forward to work with, he insists the £77 million fee will be reinvested.
“I would have loved to have worked with Suarez but, as we all know, his situation was complex. However, I made plans with the club to pour his fee back into the squad before I was appointed, so I hope to have some more news for you guys fairly soon.”
Liverpool, who have already added Emre Can and Rickie Lambert to their squad this summer, could soon complete the signing of Adam Lallana from Southampton.
The Merseyside club are also thought to be keen on World Cup stars Marcos Rojo, Xherdan Shaqiri and 19-year-old Divock Origi.
