Anderlecht was crowned Jupiler Pro League champion after a 4-1 final-day win over Standard Liege.

Anderlecht have won the Juplier League for the 5th straight year and 3rd under Fabio Cannavaro after a superb final 10 games in the Championship playoff round saw them come from 4th to finish as Champions.

It wasnt all plain sailing though as the month began with a match against bogey side KV Kortrijk and our poor record against the side continued as we went down 3-1 to this very organised and hard working team for the second time this year, we havnt beaten KV in our last 5 attempts.

Club Brugge and Genk were up next and we knew that after our shock loss last match a loss in either of these matches could have been disastrous but thankfully despite playing pretty awful in these games we somehow managed to come away with two 1-1 draws

we only needed a draw in our last match against Standard Liege to retain the title and i couldnt be happier with the result a Denswil, Villa and Neal Maupay put us 3-0 ahead within 32 minutes, Standard Liege did manage to pull a goal back just after the restart but Thorgen Hazard put the icing on the cake with one minute left to play to wrap up the title.

Matias Suarez signs with Stade De Reims

Anderlecht have today announced the sale of there highly gifted attacking midfielder Matias Suarez to Stade De Reims for 7.5m, De Reims have recently been taken over and the new owners look to be splashing the cash looking to catch up to the big boys in France
Matias Suarez spent the last six seasons at Anderlecht making 200 appearances scoring 58 goals in the process.
Fabio Cannavaro has stated that Matias wanted a new challenge and felt it was time to move abroad and test himself in France.

Matias Suarez had this to say on his arrival in France :

- This is a chance for me to try a different language, culture and way of living. As soon as I spoke to [Stade de Reims coach ] and I saw how much they wanted me here at Stade de Reims I jumped at the chance. I’ve always had a good relationship with Fabio Cannavaro but I was no longer useful to his project at Anderlecht.

“I came here to play in the Champions League. Stade de Reims is an ambitious club, it’s a challenge for me and I’m prepared to fight for my place. Hopefully we can do something special here next season and win Ligue 1.”

Having won three Jupiler League titles and a record 5 Cofidis Cups at Anderlecht.
Suarez has joined a side that finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season . Several hundred Stade de Reims fans were at the club’s training ground on Tuesday to welcome him and Matias insisted he is ready for the next stage in his career.

He said: “I’m not afraid of pressure. I noticed the fans’ passion and love as soon as I landed. I’m going to enjoy my time here. I feel fit, I kept myself busy in pre-season but I still have a bit to go. Hopefully I’ll be fully fit when I come back from my holiday.”
Great update Toon, you are getting better and better as a writer, keep up the good work.

Fabio Cannavaro fires warning shot to Jupiler League rivals ahead of upcoming campaign

Fabio Cannavaro insists Anderlecht will not be involved in a Jupiler League title battle with Standard Liege and Genk next season - because he believes his side will win it.
Anderlecht pipped Zulte Waregem to the crown with victory against Standard Liege on the final day of the season , while Standard finished 7 points behind the league leaders in third. Cannavaro constantly denied Anderlecht chances of winning the title last season, referring to side as a "little horse", but is already expressing confidence ahead of the new campaign.

"I have great belief in them [the players] and I think next season we can start day one and we can say without any kind of fears that we are there not to fight for the title, to win it," Cannavaro said at Anderlechts Player of the Season awards on Monday.

"It's good to be back. I'm happy with the evolution, but I'm not happy with winning the title on the last day of the season. Next season we want to do better than we did. We have to do better, I have to do better, the players have to do better."

While Cannavaro remains intent on strengthening his side this summer, the Italian wants to see more from his players for the next campaign.

Earlier in May, Cannavaro issued a stark warning to Anderlecht stars and called on them to improve next season or leave the club. In particular, Cheickhou Kouyate's commitment was criticised and, while presenting him with the club's Player of the Year award on Monday, Cannavaro told the Senegal man: "Next season we want more from you."

Anderlecht, look set for an overhaul with the club understood to be targeting a new left-back, central defender and striker this summer.
In other breaking news, Fabio Cannavaro also appears to be terrific at stating the obvious!

Have you had any interest from Italian sides to move the Serie A?
Griffo - ive had offers from Lazio and Genoa in the last 6 months but ive got no interest in leaving Anderlecht at the moment, though ill consider an international job if the right one comes up
Toonman? Go to Newcastle
don't leave toon, you've done so well so far
ImDonkey - maybe in the future ill manage Newcastle United but for now I see myself at Anderlecht for many years to come

fzmedegs - don't worry degs im not leaving, ill turn Anderlecht into European giants before I even think about leaving

Former Italy under 21 international joins Anderlecht

Anderlecht have finally made a move in the transfer market with the signing of former under 21 Italian International Massimiliano Busellato, Busellato joins from Italian club Cittadella whom hed been at since July 2011 making 83 appearances scoring 19 goals

Busellato is Fabio Cannavaros first signing of the season after receiving great reports from assistant manager Andrea Pirlo who had been watching the player for some time. Busellato is known to have great technical ability but his main strength would have to be his vision and passing, could we see a new Andrea Pirlo on our hands?

Busellato had great words to say about Fabio Cannavaro and his methods only a week after joining the club. here what he had to say :

I absolutely loved his training methods, I thought they were fantastic. They were quite intense sessions, everything was on a clock, everything was done for a reason. It was a new start for everybody.
Once we started training, from my point of view, it was quite evident that we had got a manager who was – I couldn’t say “special”, you couldn’t say that yet – but who put on sessions that were there for a reason.

I thoroughly enjoyed them: there was a lot of ball work and a lot of individual technical stuff and small-sided games. It was all about movement and passing and making options for each other, which I really enjoyed.

Cannavaro did a lot of what I could call “technical work”, between mannequins, where we were working on touch and control. It was high-intensity but was all very short – we would work for 30 or 40 seconds, in groups of three, and then rotate around. Then we would have 15 minutes for a keep-ball session and 15 minutes for a game. It did not matter where we had got to, 15 minutes and the game would be over. We would go and get a drink and then off to the next session.

The training was allied to new dietary requirements, as well as tablets and supplements to take for recovery and to help our performance.

When we finished training Fabio wanted everyone to go upstairs and eat. It was all very, very plain stuff: boiled chicken, fish and pasta, and different desserts. Then there always used to be tablets for recovery, which were new to me, but something ive becoming to enjoy
Covering the dietary intake in an FM story... that is the definition of detail haha!
