Anderlecht sit mid-table after a sluggish start to the season
Anderlecht kicked off there campaign with a match against fierce rivals Standard Liege at the Constant Vanden Stock and were heavy favourites to come out on top in this clash of titans but Standard had different ideas and ran out 2-0 winners to stamp there ealry authority on the competition, our next to matches were against two newly promoted sides Tubize and Westerlo which we came away with a win and loss. the loss against Westerlo was very hard to take because we dominated from start to finish and did not deserve to lose, a win and draw followed in our last two matches of the month as Anderlechts free flowing football really starting to click into gear
Anderlecht have had a sluggish start to the season so far and find themselves in 8th place at the end of August. the current Belgian champions have started off the season without really setting the competition alight and have only mustered 4 goals in 5 matches so far, though still very early in the championship improvements need to be seen, Fabio Cannavaro definitely has work to do if Anderlecht are to retain the Jupiler League
Fabio Cannavaro looks to the future
Fabio Cannavaroo has unveiled two new signings to the club on transfer deadline as he looks to add more firepower to his goal shy strike force, Joel Campbell was first to join the club albeit a laon deal which will keep him at the club til seasons end. Cannavaro has said that Joels pace and directness was the main reason to bring the player to the club and feels he could bring plenty of goals
Alexander Embrechts joined the club just as the transfer window was about to slam shut, with the fee at a nice $1.4m we Cannavaro feels this could be a bargain as Alexander has a very bright future in the game and has been dubbed the new Marc Wilmots but still only at the tender age of 19 he still have plenty of work to do to live up to that billing
