Griffo - im trying my utmost to agree a fee for Maupay before the January window opens, but may have to use Riviere as bait. Ill see how I go

BradleyBoreland - yeah Hatem Ben Arfa has had a solid start so far but its only early in the year. Grenier will be key to any success we have I believe but needs to be consistent and not just good in patches
Great idea with Ginola. Solid start aswell with some top signings, I can't help but feel Newcastle will do well in real life this year too! Haway the lads!
French attackers have all the talent....

September Update

We did not get off to a good start in November losing 3-1 to Liverpool in a match that was surrounded in controversy, Liverpool did take a 2-0 lead inside 16 minutes through Daniel Sturridge and Coutinho and looked in complete control, Ben Arfa did pull one back in the 21st minute to bring us back into the match but we never really troubled the Liverpool defence and they make us pay with 5 minutes remaining when Sturridge scored his second of the match. I beleive we should have been awarded a penalty just after the restart for a handball by Skrtel but the referee waved the appeals away.

Hatem Ben Arfa stole the show against Aston Villa scoring a hattrick as we took a 3-0 lead before the break courtesy of a Ben Arfa brace and a trademark Mike Williamson header. We made in 4-0 just after the hour mark before Aston Villa pulled two goals back in the last 5 minutes to make the scoreline abit more respectable, but most importantly we came away with the 3 points

September finished how it started, another loss against one of the big boys. Ben Arfa did give us the lead early on with a cheeky lob over Petr Cech, but it was all Chelsea from then on with 2 goals in 10 minutes to turn the game on its head, Diego Costa getting a brace, Ben Arfa did pull one back before the break but Chelsea would go onto score 2 more goals in the second half to claim a 4-2 win

despite playing two of England's biggest clubs, im still disappointed in losing both matches and we definitely deserved more, from the Chelsea game especially.
but performances aside we lost 2 matches which leaves us in 7th place, we will be looking for a great finish to the year and by christmas we are looking to be in the top six

Player of the Month

The second full month of the season is now complete and it looks like Hatem Ben Arfa is finding the form which excited Newcastle United fans on his arrival nearly four years ago.

Ben Arfa celebrates scoring his second goal against Aston Villa

The French midfielder seems to have finally put his injury nightmare behind him and is showing the form that persuaded Alan Pardew to splash the cash back in 2011. So far this season he has scored eight goals in all competitions for the club, if this form continues he'll be well on his way to break Newcastle united's goal scoring record for a player in a single season
Expected results, good to see Ben Arfa hit form!
Hopefully Ben Arfa can keep his form going. Later in the season you will beat the big teams, I know it. How are West Brom still up there?
Good results, you can't blame yourself for the loss to Pool, hopefully the next times you can push further and win those kind of matches

Newcastle United need a penalty-shootout to get past Leicester City

Newcastle United have reached the last 16 of the Capital One Cup with a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Leicester City.

Jack Colback and Co. celebrate there Penalty shootout win

The first half had the lions’ share of entertainment and quality, but the second half had the all-important goals. Ayoze Perez showed tremendous quality with expert finishes inside the Leicester City area. This was no vintage performance from Newcastle United though, but they did control large parts of the game and finished two of the many scoring chances it created. While Leicester demonstrated its attacking character and quality by scoring two goals from losing positions, it will be concerned about the way it defended for much of the game.

Newcastle United did end up winning the match via a penalty shootout after the scores were still locked at 2-2 after 120 minutes, Mike Williamson converted the final penalty to send through to the last 16

City march on!
Great read - hopefully you can keep this cup run going and pick up some silverwear.

Newcastle United smash Manchester City, Toon Army go fifth

New Newcastle United manager David Ginola enjoyed a dream result as his side swept past lacklustre City with a superb display.

United began at a frantic pace with an in-form Ben Arfa gave them a 1-0 lead inside 10 mintes,
Moussa Sissoko then steered a shot past Joe Hart for United's second, Ayoze went close to making it 3-0 on 25 minutes but his fierce was parried away by Hart.

Martin Demichelis wanted the St James Park to swallow him up after scoring an embarrassing own goal on 34 minutes. Alvaro Negredo did pull one back for City after the restart as City looked to get back into the match, a silly foul from Vincent Kompany in the area on HBA gave the referee no other choice but to point to the spot, Ben Arfa stepped up confidently and put the ball away giving Newcastle United a dominant 4-1

It was a resounding performance by an irrepressible-looking Newcastle side, with summer signings Grenier and Cabella appearing comfortable throughout.

Newcastle went onto have a very solid month as they then faced Hull City at home, scoring another 4 goals en route to a crushing victory, Stoke did manage to hold onto a draw at the Britannia despite being outplayed for most of the match,

5th place is where Newcastle currently sit after that great undefeated month, things are really starting to come together nicely for David Ginola and United, can they keep this form going?

I don't want to talk about this...
Ben Arfa is still going strong. Player of the month again?
